Oh yes - I should have thought of a better title like "the one where we have the babies". Doh.... wish we could go back and amend the titles on this site!

Thanks for that CTOFN. Glad you read the small print re the jab. FFS can't believe that she didn't ask you re the fish allergy - I had read about it only coz I got through about 20+ pages on the thread on this board. I actually know more people allergic to fish (well seafood) than eggs so really that was a more relevant question IMO.

saz I am not ignoring your post. Will get round to sorting out the messaging function... tried to the other day and got to the credit card page and realised my purse was downstairs.

lotti and ali I am glad that both of you are back home safe. Ali fingers crossed that bubs makes it to when you want it to. On the up side, I think you have galvanized everyone into packing or thinking about their hospital bags.

Thanks for the posts/ advice: have more or less successfully moved now. There is stuff all over the house and stuff still in both boots of the cars. I can't think why I thought stuff would fit since there was already stuff in here to begin with. [rolls eyes]

I wasn't sure what to do about nursing bras. I have 1 which still fits which was bought as a maternity bra but I cannot remember when the M&S lady said to go back to be measured - 39 weeks? Thing is I understand you don't really know till you go up in size. Any words of advice from the already-mums?

Aside from that, I have a few more bits to pick up for my hospital bag. Baby's bag and general stuff is more complicated.

Went to Mothercare today to look at a few things and discovered that our big local one was not quite as big as the ones I was used to in Reading.

We then went to look at strollers and car seats and had a minor freak out there. So having established that we didn't have ISOfix bars in either of our cars, we had to look at some others. I was keen to get the newborn-18kg ones without the carry cot but the saleslady did have an opinion on it and said she thought the carry cots ones that clip into a base were better. I didn't want those coz of the short shelf life and coz I hate bulky travel systems. Recommendations to me were light-weight umbrella fold prams so had my heart set on a long-lived carseat and pram. Dunno... really need to process this... I feel like I am having to play catch up with stuff ppl have been dealing with the past few months.

Hi All

Last thread before they arrive, yippee

After weighing up the options, I've decided to have the SF jab. Although I'm now on leave from work, I'm always taking DD to various places and in contact with lots of people - and is it me or is everyone ill at the moment? I have a few paper masks (from work) in my bag for reassurance in the meantime. May sound crazy, but recently I was stuck on a bus in front of a woman who kept coughing loudly and I don't think she was covering her mouth [yuck emoticon]. I would have moved but the bus was jam-packed, so next time I'll have a mask or perhaps even will have had the jab. If SF wasn't about I wouldn't be paranoid!

Aside from that I have 'I feel v. pregnant' days to 'I feel I could cook bump for weeks & weeks more days'. I'm due on the 10th/11th (depending on scan) and I'm going to predict (for fun) on here that I won't give birth until day 16.

flyingma re: feeding bras, I think last time I was measured at 38wks at Blooming Marvellous but not everyone makes it to 38wks do they? to I have some from last time but they are a little loose around the back. I bought some bravado ones with dd which were really comfortable and wore them to bits. I might get some more nearer the time.

Also, carry cot/flat car seats are not really very safe.

shiny I definitely think you need to get the itching checked out. Have you been sick all the way through (I have)? If it has started up that might also need checking out can be indication of pre-eclampsia. Hope you are feeling better.

Oh dear, so so long since I've been on mumsnet, RL has been so busy - hadn't realised Lottie had been in hospital for weeks, but glad to hear you're out now... am afraid I haven't been through and caught up with everything though.

Alibobins, don't know the details of your scare, but also glad to hear you are home again.

I've noticed a couple of people mention they think they'll be early, and it's funny because I've been thinking that too. I think it's because of work and christmas, and I can just imagine that once christmas is over I'll simply relax... so I'm looking for something to keep me a little bit stressed in early January.

On the SF jab, I am getting mine next week. The doctor's failed to invite me, but booked me in quickly when I rang having been told off by a friend who is a consultant - she said that while she is refusing the jab herself, she would definitely have it if she were pregnant, as she thinks the risks of SF when pregnant are far higher than any risk that might be associated with the jab.

I don't have a bag packed yet, my MW said to make sure it was done by 38 weeks, so I relaxed.

Realised I need to have one ready for dd as well though, just in case she ends up away overnight... she is going through a really clingy phase, and said the other day that she wants to catch the baby when it comes out. Am going to have to gently convince her that she's best off out of it! The clingyness is a bit tiring, as it means I end up doing nearly every morning (and she's waking just after 6 at the mo) and 6 nights out of 7. I know I ought to insist on DP doing more, but I just can't stand the sound of her wailing for me, and telling DP that she loves me more than him, so she ends up getting her own way.

On maternity bras, my memory is of getting them 2 weeks before I was due, I don't think they'd measure me for them before that. My boobs have done another growth spurt recently, and are definitely producing something...

Is anyone having a birth pool at home? If so are you hiring a filtered, heated one, or going for a blow up one? I've agreed to the offer of a loaned blow up one, but am a little bit worried about it. Anyone with any experiences/opinions?

Nice to be back, hopefully I'll keep up over the next few weeks as the bumps start becoming babies.

Thanks everyone I did speak to my doctor yesterday, who thought it was proably a severe reaction to something I ate, but if I was still feeling the same by today I should go to the hospital - well I am feeling fine but tired today so I guess she was right.

3 weeks till baby .

It's funny we are all thinking about early babies when the reality is they tend to arrive after 40 weeks .

I have a feeling this one will be early too. I'm probably wrong because the boys were both late.

I really can't seem to get excited for christmas. Normally I am so giddy, but I just know I have so much to do. I can't really get DH to do anything cos he's at work till christmas eve (which is also when he gets paid). Argh.

It doesn't help that I feel so exhausted all the time. (not helped my staying up late watching I'm a celeb and DS2 who still wakes up in the night). I keep thinking "when I get a full nights sleep I'll feel better"... but the reality is I'll probably not get a full night's sleep till next christmas. sigh.

Morning all! I'm really pleased I'm having a c/s early as both of my previous DCs have gone over 9 days late. For those yet to experience it - I found that pure torture !

As for nursing bras, at the ante-natal lesson thing I went to, the consensus was to be measured at 36 weeks and the advisor makes a good guestimate at that stage.

As for names; We're pretty much fixed on Samuel William for a boy and Olivia Iris Elizabeth for a girl. Although I still keep changing my mind on the first name for a girl. Isabella is another favourite, along with Charlotte. Middle names fairly fixed.

My mum's name was Iris and she died in February. Half of me would love to just call the baby Iris as it appears to be getting popular, but the other half still can't relate it to anything other than my mum and it seems so old fashioned!

Oh well, off to do my jobs for the day

hello all,

shiny glad all's well...

mama2b5 why don't you try 'flip this thread' button at top of page, which shows pages in reverse order .or is that not helpful...

dh thinks it's funny to joke that babe will come over Christmas. what's so funny about 3weeks early arrival?!! i have no sense of humour about the due date.

actually have no sense of humour at all -feeling really blue today. [RANT ALERT]

I'm SO SO tired, and there is so much to do around to try and get ready for babe. MIL called yesterday and seemed to get irritated when i told her me and Dh have been doing all sorts to get things ready... seems she thought we'd wait until they're here over christmas. assembling bunk beds, wardrobes, reorganising cupboards getting rid of some furniture ,sorting through old baby things - yeah that's what you do over xmas right??! Also kept offering to come here if i need her ( they live about 1.5hr drive away)... but have to say last time i was ill she steered pretty clear. grrr.

Am having BH and period like cramping today, backache, and PGP also really playing up. Of course I've only got paracetamol to take because despite telling GP it makes no difference nothing else has been forthcoming!!! and situation with low iron is not improving despite being on supps for >6wks now.

urgh. ok - sorry and thanks if you read all that; and no worries if you didn't .

Showme you poor thing. Please take it easy and have a nap whenever pain allows. The chores aren't going anywhere and will still be there when you've slept.

I think I'm going to go well over edd. I don't think he's in any rush to come out and is perfectly happy where he is, which is fine by me as I'm quite enjoying being pregnant. Although clothing is becoming a bit of an issue and I'm currently adopting the just got out of bed look permanently. Don't want to go buy more clothes for a few weeks.

Re bf bras, I'm going to grab a couple that are 1cupsize up from what I am now, just so that I have something. Last bra fitting they said wk 38 is when they do final fitting.

I have my first antenatal class tonight (1st of 3) no idea what to expect, but am not really looking forward to it, but trying to keep an open mind.

Right I'm off to grab coffee.

Yangymac - so pleased to hear you are feeling better than earlier in the week.

On a positive note from my side (ooooh fingers crossed, touching wood etc) - my SDP/PGP is incredibly better and I think I'm now just suffering from the usual late pregnancy aches and pains, BHs etc. Which is probably the first time this pregnancy that whatever the sufferance of the day feels fairly normal and bearable !

Just finished wrapping more xmas pressies, next job beckoning.... oooh, I wonder if this happiness and burst of energy is a sign of early arrival??? Ha, no such bloody luck!!!
