Yeah MonkeyM, how can she just 'have a feeling'? That is NOT encouraging if it is not based on any fact whatsoever. Like my consultant who constantly 'had a feeling' that I would deliver early. Every time I saw him he said 'I doubt you will make the next appointment'...anyway, he did the PLANNED, ON TIME c-section and when he walked in he said, "I see you hung on then"!!!! Ha ha ha. I told him his early predictions had become a bit of a running joke in our house, but I remember the first time when he said it when I was 30 weeks, I was in tears all the way home, petrified about premmie twins.

I am coping ok with lots of help, thanks. But the bfing on demand is getting...well, DEMANDING! Feels almost constant.

Lacks I love that discreet bfing thing...bf'd in front of dh's friends the other day - whilst eating - and afterwards he (dh) said he hadn't noticed!

Choc - ahhhh, cuteness. Is that a red tinge in his hair? Or just the light?

Come on, let us vote on some names...here's some ideas I liked but sound bad with our surname:

Gabriel (Gabe for short)
Elliot
Joel
Micah

yay
Shiny new thread!! Thanks Sparkle

I am so going to have my baby before this one is full!

It is my due date today

Pinkali Esme is soo beautiful!
Hanaflower I'm having the same kinds of pains at night - every night for the last 4, but not much during the day. No show though. It must be labour related - didn't have it before - perhaps just starting to limber up??

Re: Sweep - have mw appointment tomorrow and can have a sweep. Sorry to be graphic but how much of her hand does the mw use? was a bit about the idea of being fisted (I mean lol but the horror !!!)

Anyway tmi but thought in preparation for the sweep I would have a little tidy up - had to use a mirror and managed to totally misjudge snipping and cut myself and bleed. Silly girl. Should've asked dh.

Oh well. Probably much worse to come...

There is NO red!!!! When he came out the first thing I said to DH was "why is he so white". I thought I was the dominant one in this relationship!!

Barb I had 2 sweeps and they were fine. They are a bit like smear tests, although it may take a bit longer as they might need to move about to get the right access - but once they are in it doesn't hurt, just uncomfy. Although I think it does depend on who's doing it, I was lucky to have 2 very nice MWs. I don't actually know how much they used but I think they only need a finger to sweep it. What I would do is ask them to explain what they are doing and agree to stop if its hurting you.

Good luck with your sweep - within 48hrs of having mine I had my baby!!

Oh ChocO he is ADORABLE!

Chocolategal we sound like we are in exactly the same position here. I am happy for them to sweep away to heart's content just stay away with the nasty drip!

I am almost certain baby NOT breech esp after last time but now just about resigned to anything. I am booked in for a sweep next Wed tho. Whatever way it is lying it is not engaged so until that happens sweep useless anyway. Also a bit concerned about baby getting too big Cgal!!

Need to go and have dinner will catch up properly soon...!!

He is a little cracker choc. Totally gorgeous. I'm sure your genes will come through at some point - hopefully in a PMA!!
Hana and MerryM - thanks for your support on my MW's comments. On reflection, I'm going to ignore her and hope for the best, and that tonight's reflexology (and Thursday's sweep + full moon!) will help!
Happy due date Barbereeba!
Names for babychoc

ChocO what a gorgeous little boy Don't forget to come and update those of us stuck on this thread on his name

Sparks how annoying about baby possibly being breech - good luck with the scan.

To those of you having sweeps - can't say I envy you - sounds uncomfortable but maybe it will do the trick and therefore be worth it!!

Monkey grrr for your MW - not very helpful is it?? Mind you, I had the same experience as Merry when pg with DS. MW told me at 35 weeks that head was engaged and baby would be arriving very shortly - he arrived 6 weeks later!!! Take what they say with a pinch of salt!

Beautiful names for your baby babychoc

We have decided on Jack Tomas for a boy and Edith Sarah for a girl - what do you think?? Anyone else starting to feel alittle bit bored of being pregnant now - have 2 weeks to go on the thursday and I am waddling like a penguin due a pain in my left groin...

I am glad I am not the only one trying to convince my midwife to do a sweep - but when I asked her about she said that is was illegal for her to do it and that she would have to send me to the hospital for a consultant to do it - does anyone else think this is weird????

ceebee74 I was engaged at 35 weeks but still no sign of this bloody baby... am getting impatient, I would agree you need to take what they say with a pinch of salt....

Has anyone had there baby on time yet????

Sorry been away from the thread for a long time as my nan died and been helping my mum out with moving house.....so am not up to speed

Hope everyone is well!!!

ChocO Thanks for the info! Am I right in thinking a sweep can't actually start a labour that wasn't going to start anyway?

MM I like your name ideas! We're having a boy and have a name picked out but waiting to see if he looks like one first before we commit!!

Twinkle Lovely names so sorry to hear about your nan x

Did I read grapes are good for hurrying labour along? Hope so - just eaten a huge bunch
Actually think I've overdone the grape thing [feel sick emoticon]

So DH and I liked Aden for a boys name but we don't like the shortened version Ade which is going to happen - question do you think Edan is too girly???

Report
ChocOrange05 · 11/11/2008 19:50

Barb my MW told me that the sweep won't work unless its ready to go, it just encourages it along but in a drug-free way. It was my second sweep that worked.

ChocOrange05 · 11/11/2008 19:51

BTW - I think Edan is too girly, I just need you to confirm or tell me that you completely disagree....

Report
ceebee74 · 11/11/2008 19:56

ChocO I do think Edan is a bit girly but only because I know one baby girl who is called Eden which is similarish - why have you decided against Elvis?

First of all so glad you all approve of title has essence from our lovely Ruthy and I had to get in a bit of Misdee's milk & cardies too!

Speaking of which has Misdee been on today?

Ceebs you are soo right about everything going haywire when a normally great sleeper decides they are no longer playing ball! It completely floored us! My fingers are welded in a crossed position that he stays good for a wee while yet! Def think that the clock helped too tho - he loves it so thanks again for tip!

MonkeyM the midwife has no real reason to think that other than a feeling? What is she a fortune teller all of a sudden?! Some people should learn when to zip it IMO. Don't let her upset you anymore there is still time and things to try first!

ChocO I am sure you will find the perfect name for your LO soon. I had thought I had cracked a boy's name (actually whilst playing scrabble with MonkeyM!) but it rhymes with the name my friend called her wee boy and as we hang around together think it would be a bit funny... Back to drawing board for us!

I am trying not to get too down about this whole breech/big baby stuff, will wait for the facts. Actually the idea of a planned section is now more appealing than giving birth to a large, back to back baby TBH! At moment it is predicted to be 9lb 14oz!! I'd never feel my pelvic floor again!!

Sorry, I think it is too close to Edam! Also, Ede sounds like Eid as in Muslim festival.

I do know a boy called Eden, but I personally think it is quite girly. The nickname thing is important if you are likely to abbreviate. Jude is now called Judo!
