Thanks kiskidee - didn't spot how close we were to the end on the last one!

Had 31 wk appt this morning and bp back down to normal after going sky-high when I saw a consultant last week - stressed - me?! GTT results all fine too but like digitalgirl am thinking about cutting down on sugary stuff anyway in the hope that dc2 won't be quite as huge...

ooh, new thread!

I am so excited, only a week and a half left in work. Have to write a massive survey on pensions before I go though, which is thrilling

midwife yest was fine, urine and bp both fine. Still head down with head quite low and quite far back. And only measuring 1cm bigger than I should be.

Enjoy your last day debi must be a great feeling. 13 working days for me so hanging on in there!

Saw midwife last week, all ok apart from baby back to back at the moment (I'm 33 wks) so guess plenty of time for bubs to turn? She suggested some things I could try, which are ok for when I get home from work, but not at work! Think I'm going to have more success once go on mat leave (and surely baby could move back and forth anyway at the moment?) Mmm, anyway, if anyone has any useful info on this, ie when good to time to try (home many wks etc) then that would be goood!

Lucky you debi!

I am for some reason virtually having a panic attack about nothing at all. 2 of my colleagues (who both had babies within a couple of weeks of each other, about 2 months ago) are coming in at lunch time today so work people can see the babies. Everyone keeps saying things to me like, 'ooh, bet you're looking forward to seeing them' and how I'll want to hold them and things. Now, I am not desperately confident around small babies (I'm assuming this will change once I have one!), and particularly not in front of a team of colleagues who expect me to be gooey eyed and maternal at the mere sight of them. I am actually getting short of breath and sweating at the prospect of having to be all excited and, shocker, having to hold them. I am mad... Anyone able to reassure me?

In my experieince, scans are wildly inaccurate in predicting the size of babies at birth.

I saw a documentary once where a consultant obstetrician compared an ultrasound scan to guess babys weight to "trying to guess the trouser measurement of a man sat in a bath behind a wall!"

My friends sister gave birth this morning at 1.47am.....she only got to the hospital at 1.40am ....she was told she was having a small baby so bought lots of small/tiny baby clothes - so now she has a 7lb 9oz daughter she has got to go and buy bigger stuff

Feel a bit horrid today..,,its the weather, I think.

Have a good wednesday x

Hi guys
Lovely new thread, thanks kisk
Gosh I m shattered. Anyone else? I am still entertaining/hosting the mil this week. I feel really guilty about grabbing an hour to my self and leaving her with ds. She wants to go the shops now but I dont think she understands how hard this is wit a 3 year old when I feel so tired and heavy. Sorry rant over
Jearund my ds hated his cot and cotbed. I put him in a big boy bed at 18 months and it was the making of him. Ive never used the bag things either. But everychild is different.
Carrieon how are your wardrobes looking? I second the pax wardrobes jearund
I think I am having a whopper of a beby this time. Unfortunately, I am unable to eat large quantities as I am suffering heartburn and feel as though my stomach is in my throat. Gaviscon advanced good though. xxx

Still all anxious! Awaiting iminent arrival of colleagues and small babies. Is ridiculous how stressed out I am.

Eandz I have the most ridiculous anxiety dreams, I'm sure they don't mean anything (except that we're nervous 1st timers!). I had a dream that my baby came out talking and kept telling me off for looking after it badly and leaving it places...

i'm glad i'm not the only one having funky dreams. but yours sound a little bit more daunting than mine. i can't believe i'm worried about having another sibbling rivalry at my age.

Hello new thread! I wish I was finishing work soon - have 6.5 weeks to go...

But SO MUCH to do!!! And no time. Ah well, better just try and relax I guess.

And we need to hire a van and buy loads of Ikea Pax wardrobes too! They do seem to be fantastic.

hopefully I'm sure it is different when the baby is your own. My sister was always very disparaging about other people's "horrible babies" but then was absolutely in love with her own!

I'm still a bit worried that my bump is so small (and yes, people always feel the need to tell me...) Baby seems fine in there anyway, kicking like a mule today, but I still have it on my mind. Have got a scan on Friday anyway, so hopefully that will show us that everything is fine and dandy.

I never seem to dream - or at least I never remember them...

I was of course passed the baby. It of course decided to do a mad lunge for its mummy as i was holding it and nearly threw itself to the floor. I am going to be a bad mummy...

Oh Hopefully hate to say it but have found your last few posts v entertaining!! I'm sure you will be a FAB mum once you meet your own little one.

So once again I have missed nearly a whole thread... you lot move so fast!

Had 32 week check yesterday and they found a trace of glucose in urine sample. Now waiting (impatiently) for blood test results for gestational diabetes.... not something I am keen on having....

All made worse by the fact that almost everything the midwife said this morning contradicts what GP said yesterday. She's not too concerned whereas GP did seem worried. No idea who to believe. Oh well, cross your fingers for me...

surelyyoucantbeserious · 23/07/2008 13:51

jennylind everyone telling me I'm small too... but tonnes of kicking and wriggling so I presume it's ok in there? Is there anything that we aren't going to worry about over the next few months?!

Hopefully - new mother's always set up pregnant women to make them look bad! I remember a friend handing me her new born (after I had been there an hour) at exactly the time the poor child wanted feeding. So inevitably the baby was nuzzling me thinking "well get them out then!" and then disolving into floods of tears due to hunger. I then had to endure an endless barrage of "you're not a natural then" etc., etc. Gee thanks "friend". Did my confidence the world of good. Your baby will think you are great and that everyone else is the most useless person on the planet. Your baby will be, of course, completely correct.

Surelyycbs - I know what you mean. Midwives always seem to be v. laid back whilst GP's seem to think everything is worrying. Whether this is to do with experience, I am not sure. All I know is that GP's can never find the heartbeat, Midwives, first time - everytime. I dread seeing a GP in pregnancy. In fact, don't as have swopped care to the MLU.

i'm very sorry to hear that starlightmckenzie. you seem to have had a long battle of all of this and i just hope you get as close to an ideal birth for you and your baby as possible.

maybe next time around they'll have everything set in place?

sorry to hear that you are feeling disillusioned SL. Go see the birthing unit. Keep your options open, still, I'd say.

I am working on the assumption that I will get my HWB and if worse comes to worse, I can transfer into hospital. Like you, I have a 'doula' there with me who will be a better advocate than dh if that needs to happen.

will email you off list.

Alaro yes although in fact GP got heartbeat first go yesterday whereas last midwife had to chase baby round for ages before finding it! But midwives do seem generally more relaxed.

It's just that the midwife who was telling me not to worry about diabetes has given me misleading info in the past (suggested I had increased risk of baby with Down's based on family history, whereas sonographer said that's rubbish....).

So don't know who to believe now!!
