The cupcake/fairy cakes sound scrummy and I may have to make some over the weekend (can't be bothered today ... now there's a surprise -LOL)

BR - I have a dry tickly cough too atm, hope it gets better. When you said RL I actually read it as Real Life.. shows I spend too much time chatting on the net really. Also.. 'if the baby doesn't come before Weds' ? Wow! 1/5ths engaged is the same as deeply engaged!!

oh - lucky you Mum2b2BabyRoo getting to spend four days with DH. My DH is working on Friday (which is good as the money is needed at the moment due to us wanting to upgrade our wheels) - but the rest of the weekend he is around ... saying that friends are coming over on Saturday for a 'Footie extravaganza'(DH's words - not mine ) so he'll be LOL-ing with man-pal all evening whilst I try not to be boring and head off to bed to early! And one DSS is coming over which is great as he is superb with DD, therefore giving me a break!

Oh and the other plus side - a GREAT excuse to eat copious amounts of choccie!! yipski

Hey Ladies, someone, I think it was BR asked how the telly thing went, well, basically, I went to meet up with 4 MNers and we did lunch whilst being filmed and talking about MN/baby stuff.
Afraid to say it was mainly me talking (big gob)

Then the tv crew came round my house and I had to answer loads of questions in front of the 'puter whilst DS was jumping all over me!

Took about 2 hours for the interview and obvs they'll edit it down to what they want. I think I talked constantly about VBACs and breastfeeding though I wasn't very nice about Health Visitors either

What a bloody night I had last night, ctx ALL night, started at about 9pm and I was leaning over my birthing ball, they werent really painful, more uncomfortable but when I went to bed they kept waking me up, was determined to get some sleep though, I was not going to be going anywhere without a few hours kip as I was shattered! Seem to have stopped now though so feck knows what it was, obviously not labour.

I like VS's better. I seem to having big spikey pains at the bottom of my tummy on and off. This better not be labour.

What do people describe contractions as feeling like?
I heard you can get them at the base of your belly or at the top, or at the sides... OR all over?
Is that true?

BR - this is from a while back now but I had lots of movements from DD1 when I was in labour. It was a funny one because I was already dilating and having contractions then they broke my waters and put me on a drip to induce me. Before they broke my waters I was having 3 contractions every 10 minutes (although I couldn't feel them at that stage) and she was certainly wriggling. Maybe not as much as normal though.

It's hard to describe, mine are like the braxton hicks but with backache similar to period pains, my whole stomach doesnt hurt, just parts of it, and different parts each time, like sharp pains, last night they were mainly quite low.

Just to complicate matters, you can also get contractions in your back if you are in the early stages of back labour.

Oh ok - all last night i was getting like an 'ache' at the bottom of my stomach and lower back ache but it just kinda kept coming and going. Didnt think anything of it as I'm only just over 35 weeks.

How to describe a period pain.. its like a burning 'grainy' horrible hurty pain down there and around your lower belly I guess.

My back is killing me now VS and have had another bout of spikey pains. Cant be labour though. Am determined its just body revving up. Will tell you all if they continue.

When they say 4/5th it means the midwife can feel 4/5th of the babys head, So 1/5th means it is far engaged.

It would be totally normal for every single one of us to have ctx and not actually go into labour before our due dates as you can have 'false labour' for a good few weeks before it actually kicks in. When they get close together, that's when you need to think about calling someone.
Mine so far haven't been any closer than about every 15 minutes and have mainly been further apart.
