I just had a meeting with the consultant (which we had to kick up a fuss for). Turns out we should have been consultant led all this time, and not midwife led due to recurrent mc. So she has booked a growth scan at 24 weeks, 28 weeks, 36 (and 39 if needed), plus a cervix check and a glucose test for diabetes. Shame it took until 21 weeks for them to realise and do something about it, but relieved for the proper monitoring. They'll then decide if a c section or vagina birth would be sensible. Again so relieved as I've been struggling with this decision myself!

Also for those worrying about movements - the midwife was absolutely lovely this time and showed clearly why I couldn't feel anything. He was kicking away but right into the placenta. She said she wouldn't expect me to feel anything until 24 weeks!

I’ve been feeling totally rubbish all weekend. Nausea is back and all I can do is lie on the couch 😫 Anyone else? I was 20 weeks yesterday. On the bright side, I think I’m finally feeling the flutters! Exciting!!

@wimbler absolutely, so reassuring! I have a colleague who had her baby at 23 weeks last year which terrifies me, I just can't imagine it - we have nothing ready!

Glad to hear you're finally getting the care you should be having @Daffodil21, what a relief. And lots more chances to see your lovely baby!

I’ve been a bit absent - have been reading but had more bleeding and spd pain so been trying to take it easy while I have 2 weeks off work. I’m 20 weeks tomorrow so scan is on Friday, already had a private gender scan so know it’s a girl but getting a bit anxious about everything being ok as they check so much! Fingers crossed it’ll be all good!

Hmm @Daffodil21 I have been consultant led throughout but they only arranged extra scans at 32 and 36 weeks. No growth scans, no extra checks or tests and no discussions re delivery before 36 weeks. I wonder if I should be pushing for more now? xx

Also re viability threshold, the newest guidance is 22 weeks for those who are interested (in a sense that babies born at 22 weeks with signs of life have to be attempted to be saved and they do indeed now have some chances of survival, which does of course increase significantly with every week). I didn't want to mention this because I read a sad story online last night (unintentionally) but in some ways it is comforting to know that the guidelines in the UK have changed for better. xx

@PurplePansy05 definitely push if it's something you want. You've also just confirmed what we were thinking - that they've put on extra checks because they've fucked up so much so far.

I do actually find that reassuring. The consultant also said today that if you go into labour at 24 weeks their survival rate is very good, which does put my mind at rest quite a bit, although I hope we go further!

Yes @Daffodil21, around mid-20s the chances of survival climb to something like 82% I read. Obviously that's not someting I think about 24/7, but with our history I totally get why this time is quite an important milestone. Keep your chin up. I know you're still anxious deep inside and I am too at times. But look how well we've done. Already halfway there, if not closer. Keep the faith ❤ xx

@PurplePansy05 to be honest, I'm not far off thinking about it 24/7 🙈 but we are approaching that milestone and soon we'll hopefully be past it. Yes, anxiety is still sky high, I'm sure it is for you too, and others ❤️ I feel much better after today's appointment though just knowing that they will be monitoring. At my 20 week scan she said how she wouldn't see me again until birth, so I'm so glad that's no longer the case

Exciting to hear everybody reaching the 24 week milestone, I’m 20 on Wednesday with scan on Friday. Feeling anxious for it but got everything crossed.

@Alittlexmasmagic I’ve been looking at that cot from IKEA, I’ve never had issue with anything I’ve ever bought from there but good to know it’s lasted 2.5 years! It’s one of the few that has a drawer and isn’t a sleigh as I’m restricted on size but would fit that in comfortably.

@PurplePansy05 wow £400! I haven’t considered anything like a newborn shoot but my sister had one for hers and still has the pictures on display 12-10 years ago!

On the pram / car seat front I’ve been looking at the Jane/Johnston crosswalk pram which is all terrain but seems a good size for boot etc but also the matrix 2 car seat which can lie down so it can be ok for longer journeys. The seat can also be the carrycot and with a mattress they sell for £25 it’s safe for overnight sleeping. I’m really keen on it and seen a few threads about it but just can’t find anywhere that has them on display so would risk I think £30 to send back which I don’t mind but would prefer to see it.

Hi girls! Can I join? I am due Aug 29. 20w scan is next Wednesday. DH and I can't wait to find out who will be joining our little family! This is our first two legged child; already have two crazy springer spaniels.

I am catching up on the previous two threads - so interesting to read some of your comments! Wish I knew about this group. I would have definitely felt more reassured and less alone.

Also I’ve had a couple of sessions with a specialist women’s health physio which has been amazing for my pelvic pain. I’d really recommend going for a couple a sessions with one if any of you are experiencing pain. Not your average physio session but really eye opening. She gave some great advice about pelvic floor and how to achieve the vbac I’m after too

That's really interesting about the guidelines. I just looked it up for Germany and it's similar. Before 22 weeks there is considered such a low chance of survival that nothing is done. But from 22-24 weeks, it's allowed for doctors to intervene. However the website I was reading said that babies who are born and survive at 22 weeks tend to have severe disabilities, and 23 weeks is about a 50/50 chance for severe disabilities, so they would only intervene medically after a discussion with the parents about the risks, if the parents still have a strong wish for medical intervention.

From 24 weeks onwards chances of survival and health are good so they would intervene regardless.

Sorry to post this ladies but I have had these patches either side of my bump for a few weeks, raised dry patches which I've slathered in bio oil and moisturiser most days but they're red and sore tonight and rather itchy. Wondering if they're stretch marks appearing or a rash? I didn't have stretch marks with DS and was obviously much bigger than I am now so I'm confused !
