That's cool you own your dream home. I'm not quite there yet, but along with a house I bought as a business venture and my flat i am now selling i reckon i am third of the way to buying my dream home. Which isn't bad as UK property prices are ridiculous! Hopefully my flat will sell ok. It's in a really good location with lots of space and light etc etc. Fingers crossed.

My support network, well, i live in Dorset, exactly halfway between two sets of people/family - Mum and some family are in the south west, but no real friends down there as never lived there particularly. Brothers, sisters and good pals are all up in London, and i have a large group of friends where i currently live and have lived for about 7 years.

i'll be moving to Mums for about 9 months, which i'm really looking forward to as she keeps emailing saying she'll babysit so i can start diving again at weekends and if i want to find myself a little cash cleaning job. Also my elderly granny lives down there too and i have a strong sense that she's not going to be around too long and i love her to bits. I shall miss having chums, but hardly any of my friends have children or babies, so i'll be making -hopefully! - a new bunch of mum friends through baby groups or whatever stuff happens. Life's a bit more sedate and way slower down at Mum's but i'll be getting to grips with being a mum so i reckon it'll be best place for me. Also wont' need to be worrying about bills and stuff so should be able to save some money too.

I probably sound confident about it all, i'm half not though. i'm worried about missing my close friends here, altho it's only an hour and a half's drive, and i'm quite apprehensive about setting off from mum's next Autumn with the resonsiblity of a baby. That apprehension is also mixed with a confidence and positivity too. Ahhh must be hormones and completely normal.

I've had lots of dreams lately about when he or she is born and they place her on my chest and in my dream it's a moment that i feel i've waited a long time for.

Sorry! Totally rambling!

I think if you set yourself up as a very independent woman which sounds like you have and really well done for that, but don't assume people wouldn't be glad to help no matter how busy their lives are. I'm rubbish at asking for help and have only recently leaned on my friends a bit and they've been falling over themselves to do stuff for me. i feel a bit daft for not asking sooner!

So dont be afraid to ask your suppport system for help!

I'm gonna have to hit the sack now! It's quarter to 12. Just had a cup of milk and it's made me feel sleepy for once.

Hopefully speak to you soon Buzzy - keep your chin well up.
Night night

Thanks Neuro!! Sorry I dropped out for a while there - had to do a bit of work! Sooo nice to be online at the same time tho. Hope you have a good night's sleep. I reckon you're right about asking others very help - I must get better at doing that, far too much the independent modern woman

Hi - I read this board all the time (at work!) but seldom posted. Just warning you all - these babies can arrive any time. My due date was 27th december - baby no 3 (after 2 full-termers) decided to arrive 12 weeks early on 5 October and is now 4 weeks old tomorrow! He's doing remarkably well but it's hard to believe such a proper little person should still be inside me for another 8 weeks. So be prepared...

Report
loucee · 01/11/2007 08:23

wow congratulations 3littlebears! I'm glad He's doing well, is he still in hospital? I bet that was a bit of a shock coming 12 weeks early - was there a reason for him being premature?

That's the ice broken then - the first of the December club have arrived!

Morning everyone - Good luck with selling your flat Neuro. I don't know what the market is like where you are, I think its quite slow in London at the moment. There's one next door to us that has been on for 6 months, and I'm trying to help my mum sell one that has been on since July. Very boring having to drag myself down to the other side of London to meet greasy estate agents.

Buzzy - good news about Downs. ~Fingers crossed for the other tests. I hope you're coping.

Hope everyone slept well. I've had 3 good nights now, and I feel fantastic for it.

Neuro and Buzzy - I think you're right about relationships. I met DH when I was 23 - its been over 10 years now - you kind of grow together. Don't know what I'd do if I had to find somebody else now. Don't think I'd put up with anyone else's funny ways.

This is the last outing of my halloween name. Am changing it now - too long to type.

loucee · 01/11/2007 08:30

oh well reminded BCW - did anyone get any trick or treaters? I feel a bit bad now but DD was a bit unsettled last night and I knew as soon as the doorbell went she would be even more so, so I only had a couple of lights on in the house and didn't put the outside light on and i didn't get ANY trick or treaters! A whole bucket of candy for them aswell but DH was out at the football last night and I was shattered so I couldn't face getting up and down to the door and up and down to DD!

Anyone else as mean as me?

Report
Amani · 01/11/2007 08:42

Loucee - I was upstairs sorting household bits and bob out and couldn't be bothered to keeping going up and down to open the door.

BTW can anyone help? Getting a really sharp pain on the left hand side of my bump, might this be B-H or stretching pains?

Report
insywinsyspider · 01/11/2007 09:27

well it was our first ante natal class last night so we avoided the trick or treaters, my mum and dad were babysitting and my mum hates it as she says its effectively begging so I made them a sign for the door so they didn't get disturbed

skiddale - my dad was going to give them satsumas from our fruit bowl if they did call, last year dh gave them apples so I don't think we'll have anyone coming round next year!

amani - I'm getting sharpe pain on right hand side which feels like a foot pushing out, last time BH for me weren't painful just lie the whole bump went tight like baby was having a stretch... not much help sorry but its v uncomfortable isn't it!

wow 3littlebears! congratulations! I'm so not prepared if that happens to me, hope you're all doing well now

buzzy - thanks for new thread!

How scary is that thread title, next month i will have a new baby

Hope everyones well. I havent slept properly for days now, ds has a bad cold and is waking up loads through the night so we are both a bit cranky. Had loads of trick or treaters last night, i just didnt answer the door though. I didnt even think to get sweets etc in and i dont believe in giving them money. Got more iron infusions tomorrow, i do actually feel a bit better for having it now.

Report
claireybee · 01/11/2007 09:30

I've always hated trick or treaters but was warned that where we live (our first halloween here) you get lots of them so had stocked up on sweets for them. DD was really fascinated by all the carved pumpkins in town so I also bought one and carved my first ever pumpkin was quite pleased with it. We had quite a few big groups come by, but they were all really polite and had made a real effort with costumes etc, AND (this really impressed me!) they knocked quietly on the door rather than ringing the doorbell.

I was unaware of it, but apparently there is a pumpkin code-where they only go to houses with a pumpkin outside. I took the pumpkin down at 8pm and we only had one more group come after that-obviously quite good halloween etiquette around here!

I was obviously dreading the teenagers coming and demanding money though cos I had a nightmare about it where they came really late at night and I hid and didnt answer the door so they threw eggs at the house and then broke in through the kitchen window-I woke up actually shaking with rage!

Made a start on The Pile yesterday (for those of you who don't have one, The Pile is where you put all the paperwork you are meaning to sort through, file, deal with etc-ours was at the stage where it filled 3 drawers!).

Had a mini freak out at dh part way through cos most of the rubbish was his and then he dared to say he was keeping out of my way because "It's not that much". I then swept the rest of it into one huge pile, dumped it in front of him and said "There, that's your "not much", you deal with it. To give him credit he recognised the hormones so didnt argue and got on with it, it did take him hours though but he seemed to get quite into it and I think he felt a sense of achievement when it was all done! AND, he admitted that it was a lot!

Congratulations to 3littlebears too! Wow, I'm nowhere near ready now, let alone if baby had come 12 weeks early! Think the Dec babies will start coming thick and fast over the next couple of weeks though-just hope mine stays put a while longer!

Report
insywinsyspider · 01/11/2007 10:02

claireybee - like the idea of having the pumpkin-code! I hate the idea of trick or treating as its so american but I just know when ds is old enough if his mates are going round he'll want to join in
we also have a 'pile' its on my expanding lists of jobs to do!

fifi - do you have any indication transfusions are working? i was bad enough with ds's cold and night waking and i have ok iron levels, hope you get chance to rest

Report
fifisworld · 01/11/2007 10:33

Insy - I do/did feel less tired than i was before, the last couple of nights have knocked me back a bit but on the whole i do feel a bit better.
I think from next week i have them twice a week, unless my iron levels have rose by a lot, then they will keep it to once a week.

I have my hospital bag ready, just need to find some pj's. I want some short ones but either black or dark colours and i cant find any anywhere. I dont like wearing nighties but because im having a c/s i will need a cathetar in for 24 hours so long pj's are no good as i found out last time.
