Do I have Post Natal Depression?

Hi All, I’m not sure how to word this but I’ll try my best. I don’t really know how I feel, I don’t feel down more blank seems to describe it best. I know I love my twins and we have lots of support but I’m unsure if I’m looking after them well enough even though I know I am. It was a surprise and traumatic pregnancy, as before I was dead set against children (it was at the point where my partner and I were approaching the convo on if we can remain together, as he wanted children) but then I found out I was pregnant. I also have epilepsy and had 3 seizures during, was anxious/stressed daily and I was under constant supervision. Now my medication is slowly balancing out but I’m still scared to be left alone with my twins, is this just being naturally nervous or is it post natal?

Oh bless you. I’ve been there I know how difficult it is. You sound like you're going through a hard time, relationship issues, coping with twins, medical issues. So are you just taking epilepsy meds? Could you make a call to your midwife or doctors and see if you can get a telephone appt. You may well have depression. I felt like you after the birth of my 4th child (unexpected pregnancy) and talking to the doctor bought it all out and I was prescribed anti depressants and it was the best thing I did. Not a dramatic effect, more gradual and I no longer get overwhelmed like I used to.

It’s nice to know I’m not alone in feeling this way and It was more of a sticking point in our relationship other than that we were great. But yes I’m on epilepsy medication which I’m waiting to balance out with my hormones and I will give the GP or midwife a call as it’s my best bet I think like you’ve said. Thank you for your help and advice!
