Thanks!

I’m having an odd week so far. I went into the day unit last week with pains in my belly button area that I had mentioned on here. Scan of baby looked fine, cervix looks fine and swabs were taken which I think came back fine. They took loads of bloods and most came back ok except high amylase and lipase and slightly elevated CRP. They want to see me for an abdomen scan tomorrow to check for pancreas issues (and gallstones etc) and I’m just totally panicking now about what the problem is (main worry is they tell me it’s something really serious like pancreatic cancer!)

I’m frustrated because the doctor I saw Thursday said they would call me that evening or next day if any issues. Heard nothing so assume all ok then got phone call at midday today saying I need to come for w scan tomorrow morning :(

@hjbows88 it doesn't sound relevant to pregnancy which is the positive side. Hopefully it's something minor we can't assume the worst but I understand the frustration x

I had itching so was sent by gp to have liver function tested on Thursday and apparently I have elevated liver enzyme ALT. Repeated the test today and came back with lower ALT but still elevated so I'll be doing it again next week. Can't work out why - I suspected the meds I've been taking but the clinic has came back said not likely. I do hope i don't have to take more meds because now I've got a liver condition...

@umabb thanks for setting this new thread up!

@mrssunshinexxx I suffer terribly from constipation at the best of times and it's been worse during pregnancy becei couldn't take my usual senna. My GP prescribed Laxido (like Fybogel) and I now take that twice a day to keep things moving. If I stop using it I get constipated again so decided to just do it. I hate it - makes me gag - but better than constipation!

APD1981 · 27/01/2020 19:18

@hjbows88 as hard as it sounds, try not to worry. Best thing is that whatever the issue is, they are onto it now. Try not to think the worst. Let us know how you get on x

I think Lactulose is safe in pregnancy too for constipation. It saved my bacon last time after the birth - it helps your intestine or bowel absorb more water if I’ve remembered correctly, it worked well for me anyway!

Anyone else’s sickness back with a vengeance? I was very sick from day 0 to about week 15 and thought it he gone away... nope, 19 weeks now and I was suddenly and violently sick twice this week so far! Maybe a surge in hormones? Feeling a bit sorry for myself tonight but that might be because I am forcing myself to sit down and do my tax return!

@Magpiefeather my sickness has never really gone away completely! I had it horrendously until 12 weeks and it's got better since then but I'm still sick once or twice a week and feel nauseous a lot. I've found weak Robinson's lemon squash helps now 😊 nothing helped at the beginning though.

@hjbows88 oh how worrying for you! I'm keeping everything crossed that it's nothing or something minor 😊 this whole thing is so worrying as it is.

I ended up in maternity triage today with pains but they checked me over, listened to baby's heartbeat which was amazing to hear again and then checked my cervix which was closed so that's good but the doctor said it was tilted to the left! I know my uterus is tilted but I didn't think it affected my cervix too 😕 does anyone else have a tilted uterus or cervix that they know of? Apparently 1 in 5 women have it.

@mrssunshinexxx I used to have a lot of dried prunes as snacks which is fibre rich too but it comes with a lot of sugar as well. Sweet potatoes are good fibre source as well - I use it as potato /rice replacement and I could easily snack on them too (they taste sweeter when they are cold!)

Had my 20 week scan today and everything was perfect. They were so lovely and showed us every organ they were measuring. Also found out we're having a boy Grin sorry to hear some of you are feeling rough. @hjbows if your CRP and amylase are elevated it could be pancreatitis which can be treated with antibiotics. I wouldn't worry too much xx

Evening All
Thanks for creating the new thread @umabb

Has anyone had palpitations? I get them when I lie on my right side. But had them yesterday evening and was short of breath. Called the midwife team today and they asked me to come in. I had all the uaual tests and an ecg. All came back fine but I'm regretting not lying on my right side for the ecg. I think I was stunned that she told me to take my top off, bra and all with nothing to cover myself with. Anyway I guess thats the start of the dignity going.
Was pretty scary last night so I cried myself to sleep and when she told me to come in today, I cried again. Total emo atm too.
I found a MN thread from a few years ago where they talked about it being related to stress. Probably stressed that I keep waking up on my back but that seems to be similar to a lot of you.

Thanks for the new thread.
Having trouble with constipation too, due to my anti-sickness medication. I've got some stuff called dulcosoft, which is what's in laxido, but in a syrup. Much easier to take then a big sachet of stuff.
Hope everyone with health worries gets good news soon.

Getting a bit worried about the virus! Is there any info on how it affects pregnant women or babies? Husband has bought masks, goggles and stocked up on food just in case!!

Also, how late is everyone planning to work? I'm hoping to work to one or two weeks before due date. Year 13 will have gone so I'll have a lighter timetable and year 12 will be being nice to me as I'll be massive. Students are asking lots of questions and seem quite excited, bless them. I've told them we can do bets (not for money) on date and sex nearer the time.

@peetieswie I'm terrified about this virus! Luckily so far it's not over here but that could all change 😫 that's a good idea of your DH buying masks and food... I have no idea how it affects pregnant women or babies.

I've been off work my whole pregnancy so far for one reason or another! I'm going back next week though and I'm hoping to work until 34/35 weeks... I'll actually only be back for 13 or 14 weeks.

Report
MrssC92 · 27/01/2020 22:54

@RPPs Yes I've had palpitations. Started at about 13 weeks and stopped last weekend. I had a Drs appt on the 14th jan and he listened to my heart and referred me for an ecg saying it wasn't quite normal. I last has palpitations on the 18th then ecg on the 23rd. All came back Normal. It's kind of fustrating because I know something was happening but it's reassuring that it's probably just normal pregnancy palpitations for them to have stopped.
My maternity will be starting on my due date but I have about 4 weeks of holidays to put in which ill be using to let me finish in the 15th may with a due date mid June. I'm a solicitor so lots of stress so I'll be more than ready to go by then.

BabyBird20 · 27/01/2020 22:59

@peetieswie I'll be jealous of your lighter timetable! I teach 30 7 and 8 yr olds and already counting down the days! Our half term is a 4 weeks before I'm due so thinking I'll finish officially the first Monday back after that so 15 days before I'm due!

@umabb @APD1981 thanks ladies I don't feel it's bad enough to need supplements yet but very mindful before birth I need to make sure o am going regularly and easy because and drugs although I don't plan on having any in labour they can bung you up to! So will get some lactulose in for when I'm huge and post birth

How much water do you both drink a day? I know I don't drink enough so that could be an easy fix but I find it hard to drink much more but I will definitely try
I will get the all bran cereal too next food shop, fresh orange juice is meant to be good

@MrssC92 same last day working as me 15th May! But I have 3 weeks leave before due date!
Although by my calculations I make my due date 15th, so won't be surprised if she's late!

@Magpiefeather oh my gosh yes! I felt loads better from 15/16 weeks and then this last week I’ve felt my morning sickness come back with a vengeance! I’m assuming baby is having some sort of growth spurt and therefore there’s a surge in hormones!?
