well done Pixie - how did the appointment go?

Iris - poor you with your DH possibly being away. That sounds really hard. Weekending (which is what I'm doing at the moment but without any babies involved) also sucks but there you go!

Now - did I misread or did someone mention Christmas shopping?????????

Now I really am worried!!!

Pixiefish · 21/08/2007 11:16

It's tomorrow Iris.

Am worried actually as I'm going to talk about a cs with him. The mw thinks its a good idea as everything can be done ina controlled manner but just don't knw what the haematologist will say. I am going to do what he tells me though as I am so worried. it's not the pain that scares me btw- it's the blood loss

Christmas - I'm planning to get everything done by mid Oct but haven't made any headway so far. At the very least I want to write all the envelopes for cards so all I have to do is write the from bit Also a good reminder as I want to get the baby announcement envelopes done at the same time. Maybe a job for this weekend.

Argh- baby announcement adn Christmas cards.

Spose I could write the Christmas cards and then bob in a round robin birth announcement in them... Or I could just forget bleeding Christas this year and just concentrate on us3- who will hopefully be 4 by then

Pixie - with your history they're going to monitor you closely aren't they. That's a hugely positive thing (though I can appreciate your concern IYSWIM) Hopefully the appointment will give you more confidence about what's going to happen.

Hi all, hope all your tests/injections and appointments go well tis pita. I have an apt to see a health visitor today, bit previous but suppose can't complain - anyone else seeing their health visitor before the birth?

Those of you suffering with indigestion I was reading on the net that your baby is more likely to be born with a full-head of hair! They have apparently researched this. Mine is going to be a baldy then .

Sarah - oooo that idiot was really winding me up but i think i managed to keep my calm lol.

I've asked this on another thread but i'm gonna ask here too. I've got literally no work to do and haven't had any to do for the past 3 or 4 weeks and i'm thinking of skiving off for the rest of the week. Shall i do it? I get paid either way so it doesn't matter either way financially. There's just so much i could be doing at home right now, rather than spending my entire day in front of a computer and going brain dead!!

RGPargy - I'd skive off nothing worse than being at work & bored when you've loads to do at home.

Just spoken to the lovely sister at the hospital who got me over my fear of hospitals. Unfortunately it was because I failed the GTT . I've got to go in on friday morning to collect a finger prick/blood test kit. Thankfully I (apparently) did so well controlling my diet last time that she said she's no qualms about having a go at diet again( - I thought it was only by the skin of my teeth I wasn't put on insulin!) Best I stock up on bloody ryvita & cottage cheese again! Luckily I've just found all my old diabetes leaflets & low GI diet books so at least I know what I can eat this time

Hope everyone else does better on their GTTs

Loopy and others who have to deal with DH/DPs being away - I feel for you. I get a little edgy if DH is away for the evening because it means I don't get to hand DS over at 6pm!

Do agree in a way that it would be easier to have him be away and then just come back, rather than come back at weekends and upset the routine and emotions. You'd have to get used to saying goodbye again every 7 days.

Just got back from 2 days at my mum's so feel looked after. Ended up buying a pack of 2 nursing nighties from mothercare for £22.

Also bought sprung cot bed mattress for DS from e-bay for £45. Equivelent in mothercare etc is about £70! Mattresses for cots and moses baskets are sooooo expensive! Will be getting mine from an e-bay shop (which meets all safety standards by the way - they are an established shop, not a personal seller).

Thanks for setting up new thread by the way pixie!

Just been to the dentist to have a couple of fillings. Didn't hurt as bad as I thought which was a pleasant surprise.

Aiki - hope you get all your issues sorted - sounds like a sensible thing to get together and talk things through properly. Mind you, anyone would have a job getting a rational conversation out of me at the moment!

RG - of course you have to skive off. In your heart of hearts you KNOW that is the right decision but you aren't strong enough to commit to it.

Let us on this thread give you the strength you need - YOU MUST SKIVE OFF WOMAN!

Just posting to get this on my threads i'm on list.

Though I agree. RG, you should skive. I'm loving being at home. Everyone told me I'd get bored. I think not.

Good luck to all with tests.

Well I cant skive off work tomorrow now as i'm now working late til 9pm. Of course i use the term "work" lightly. It's working in the WP department and they usually keep the work for themselves But at least it's only 3 1/2 hours extra and that time goes really fast. Yet more MN-ing and such like i think!

I'm not sure whether it is bad to skive off after doing overtime tho, even if it is only til 9pm. I could always start complaining to my boss during the day that i dont feel well and do the same to the night girls too so that someone will say "oh yeah she said she wasn't feeling well" etc.

Blimey, what is WRONG with my conscience?!!!!!

Hi everybody,
I'm back in lovley lovely Sheffield after a long weekend away at the MIL's. Boy am I glad to be back! Not because of her but the last 2 nights and the four hour return car journey have been so damned uncomfortable... ... Grrrr!

And I have my GTT tomorrow morning.

Anyway, knowing how much we like to chat, I did take notes as I went along. Hope you don't have to work to hard to drag your minds back (in some cases as far back as Thursday).

SGK- So? Big knickers in labour bag or still on to do list? I hope you have had a chance to rest. There's so much going on in your life, don't forget to make some you time. (See what you can do to convince others who might help you that it's really important, it's not just you who's depending on it!)

AnnainNZ- After Kell was Stu and then me. Were you a disco's or gig's steward as I was cheif steward for disco's in both Kell's and Stu's sabbaticals. Gosh! it's a small world. I chose Leeds by pretty much the same process as you and I remember f**king my parents off right royally by being more concerned about 'nipping into the poly' to buy tickets for a couple of gigs when they came to drop me off. (Naturally their eyes brimming with tears that I didn't seem to give two hoots that I was leaving home!) Makes me laugh! Unlimited lager drinking and no-one to comment on how sober I was (or wasn't) and I'd still managed to 'nip' home after about 4 days - what's to be sad about??!!! (Oh! If only I knew then what I know I can feel now!!)
P.S. The Duchess rocks! Suspect we may like similar music!

GTT's-well done to all that had good results and my support to those who ddin't hear what they wanted. I know I haven't done it yet but I'm trying to view it as -if it doesn't go according to plan then all is not lost, my baby will get the attention she requires and I may lose a few pounds into the bargain! I will feel a bit hard done by though if I am glucose impaired or intolerant. Lord knows my diet's been fairly fun free for most of this pregnancy.

I had a dream the other day! (Not normal for me to remember them at all). I dreamt I gave birth, three (painless) pushes and babe was out. V. little blood, water or gore, I was doing yogic breathing dah-ling! I suspect if we look that one up it'll come under 'Wishful thinking!!'. I'm beginning to be a little more focussed on labour. I alarmed to understand just how little I knew before this bout of reading (despite having given birth before AND considering myself someoe who does their homework because I'm a need-to-know kind of person). Shame I still haven't packed a thing or am even close to shifting off my plump derriere to do so. 28+2. Should I be packing?

Iris66- What was the deal with feeling like your periods were about to start? Were you just having a weird saturday? Is that all in the realm of normal pregnancy for you? I was quite alarmed when I read that that our first babe was heading for the exit door when I read that. Any more info?
By the way you are SOOOO clever with the boob tubes. I've got big boobs and want to breast feed but I know from last time that big boobs & discretion do not walk hand in hand. If anyone has any more tip s for BF with big boobs, I'm listening.

Whilst I'm on the subject of BF can I have the soapbox for my tuppence worth? As regards getting DH's to do night feeds, pick exactly which one wisely. I mixed fed and when I was struggling to maintain my milk supply (I was doing it all wrong but that's a different story) I was told that the feed at about 3-5am is a crucial one for maintaining milk supply as the chemical which stimulates milk production is at it's highest at this point in the day. I never researched this to see if it was gubbins or not but for me the things that I did (express/BF at this time of day did seem to have a positive effect on my milk supply).

Loopy - Congratulations on your toddler!

Pixiefish- Haematologist? Sorry I think I missed the background. Would you mind terribly if you had to explain again. BY the way Pixie, please ask about the blood loss. I read in 'Blooming Birth- Lucy Atkins' (fab book that I highly recommend by the way) that blood loss in caesarians is higher than in normal vaginal births. (Though obviously this may not be the case for your set of circumstances, probably worth checking though if this is your main reason for thinking a CS may be best for you).

RGPargy- Please link me to your crazy chat about homebirth.

Am going to can it now.

Blimey Easy

I feel like I should really write more!

Rg - yr other thread was really interesting. I plan to give birth in a midwife led unit - don't quite feel confident enough for a HB. But what a lot of evidence to suggest I should. Definitely not staying in hospital though - it sounds revolting. i'll aim to discharge myself asap if everything is ok. will just want to get home.

Iris - I felt like I ws having my period too on Sunday/Monday. Was a bit worried cos I believe that's what early labour feels like??

Organisation - I've bought breast pads, maternity pads and disposable knickers from Boots. Hadn't considered what to wear for actually giving birth - don't fancy being naked (boobs are too big for starters)

Pelvic floors everybody
