Thanks for the thread @kyles101 !
Oof @Dipsy77 fun and games!! Hopefully all the starting off you've been doing will stand you in good stead, and the water breaking/drip will do their job smoothly- and the c section certainly will if needs be!

Congratulations @Megan2018 what a gorgeous girl!
@Dipsy77 hope things are going ok for you.

Max came into the world in quite a dramatic fashion! We had planned a home birth with a pool etc all prepared. Friday 11am contractions started and straight away were 3 mins apart lasting 1 minute. While waiting for the hospital to phone us back to see if they can send someone out, DH takes DD to mums back for 12.30 in that time things have really ramped up a gear.
Hospital finally phone back to say they can't send anyone as really busy 🤦🏼‍♀️ tell us to phone for an ambulance who tel us ambulance is on its way as I'm starting to push! Luckily the amazing woman on the 999 call talked my husband through everything and he delivered baby on the living room floor just as the paramedics walked through the door! Safe to say my husband is traumatised!
But all is good, he is feeding well and sleeping in between so can't complain at all.
Feeing much more confident second time round which is nice.

God I'm ready for all of this to be over now. Fed up of false starts and uncomfortableness, of not being able to do anything but lay down. Feeling unattractive, and useless, and fed up of those messages constantly asking.

Thanks for the new thread @kyles101

@itakephotos wow that certainly is a dramatic entry into the world! Well done to both you and your DH, what a champion! Glad he is feeding well and all is good! 😊

@DustyDoorframes @kyles101 I’m 39 weeks today so not too long to go, I’m just praying she comes early. Every time I go to the hospital I see a different midwife and this one was just really abrupt. I was crying so hard at one point she told me to stop as I wouldn’t be doing my baby any good and everything I’m feeling I’d be sending through to my baby - which was not what I needed to hear at that precise moment as it just made me panic more. I really hope my anxiety hasn’t affected her in any way.

@knobjockey have you got long to go? The messages are annoying aren’t they! I’m ignoring most of them. Have you had any symptoms of impending labour yet?

Aaaaa @itakephotos what a birth story!!!! 0 stars to the hospital for that one- 5 stars each for you, DH and the 999 lady! Had the homebirth team prepared you at all for that? We had a Rapid Birth Protocol (!) to follow last time, and all sorts of detailed instructions this time. I can't imagine just being left to deal with it like that! You amazing people!

What I am learning from this thread is that the September maternity madness is very real Confused

@Puglover88 one more week tops then? Hopefully less! I can't imagine all the complicated feelings this must bring up. It sounds like you are being kind to yourself though, and giving yourself permission to feel them? Whatever the abrupt midwife said, bottling it up and pretending you are not anxious/sad isn't going to help!

@KnobJockey ugh but this last bit is horrible! I've absolutely had enough of this pregnancy, but absolutely not ready for the baby yet! I'm also rapidly running out of the energy to care WHAT happens next...

@Megan2018 have you managed to transfer to the lovely birth centre? Fingers crossed!

I've lost track of who is still standing, we are getting thinner on the ground...

@DustyDoorframes no not at all which is mad really seeing as we had booked a home birth as DD was born in 3 hours.
We had to phone the hospital 3 times to follow up and if they had just phoned us the first time we would have had time to come in by car and have him in a room. They said Friday had been unusually busy!! Never mind!

Dear lord ladies, take it from me - do not buy Always Night max as stand in maternity pads!! They are scented and after one day of then my vagina was on FIRE. I had to send DH on an emergency run to sainsbos. Instant relief. Confused

Stroan · 15/09/2019 20:30

@itakephotos congratulations! A sort of accidental home birth. Glad all is ok.

@megan2018 congratulations, she is lovely. Glad it all worked out in the end.

@puglover88 I'm so sorry you are going through this, anxiety is awful in pregnancy but please don't think it is affecting your baby AT all. The midwife shouldn't have said that. I hope the next few days go quickly, or baby makes a surprise appearance.

DustyDoorframes · 15/09/2019 20:42

@itakephotos it sounds like you guys were just amazing! V glad the ambulance got there not too long later, anyway!

@Lavellan oh no! Last time the MW suggested packing incontinence pants as they are more absorbent than maternity pads- this time I accidentally ordered Always scented ones. Sounds like that's a bigger mistake than I thought...

Hello @Stroan ! Hope all still going well?

@itakephotos oh my God! You absolute legend, your poor husband, once hes over the shock he can dine out on that till Max is 18!

Glad this weekend done, zero care for DD, mum and dad are in Prague till thurs... MIL is agreed back up. But she WhatsApps from 2hours away on Friday - improptued weekend away. Honestly gets back and asks if I've any signs, via OH for once....cheers! I cant say anything I need her primed until my mums home.

OH and I also disagreeing over birth plan - try and bring on labour for a VBB prior to section at 41wks, which I dont want. The amount of colleagues I've never heard of and now his best mate (also a bloke!) Saying I should have gone for the 39wks section. As if we should have got a general opinion on Facebook while we sat in the doctors deciding Angry. As if I havn't spent sleepless nights over it for a month.

Puglover88 · 15/09/2019 21:26

Thanks @DustyDoorframes I went for a long walk with DH at our local beach this evening and am feeling much calmer now - just need this week to go quickly!

@Stroan thanks, my DH did say that he didn’t think she managed the situation very well and he was livid when she said that to me as he knew how I’d react - I think I just got a MW with very little bedside manner! Luckily I’ve never seen her before so hopefully I won’t again! How are you doing?!

@BBell2 why do people all of a sudden become ‘experts’ when it comes to other people’s pregnancies?! 🤷‍♀️ It is agonising when you’re given a degree of control over your delivery as it’s such a huge decision: ignore anyone’s opinion if they’re not your doctor and trust your instincts. What is it you and OH are disagreeing on?

Report
Stroan · 15/09/2019 22:34

@Puglover88 I'm not surprised your DH was livid.

I'm really good, thank you for asking. Like a whole different person now I'm not pregnant. I don't think I've been this chilled out ever, I'm not exactly laid-back but nothing seems to phase me! I hope you get the same relief from anxiety once baby is here.

@BBell2 maybe you should have had your friends and family vote on it? FFS. It's hard enough to stand your ground without other people's unhelpful contributions.

Thanks for the new thread kyles.

@itakephotos OMG what a birth story! Congratulations and well done you, hubby and 999 lady! Hope you're all recovering ok.

I'm 39+2 and have maybe the start of a show - very light brown stain on my pad. Called triage to be safe and midwife was really reassuring and reckoned that was probably it. I bloody hope so! I have been begging and bartering with baby to make an appearance ASAP!

Here goes another sleepless night 😞.

@puglover88 my OH has gone from, give labour a go, aligned to breech is another "form of normal" to suddenly having spoken to "people" and I should book an early elective, a choice I have lost really this late. I had a cry earlier as I've got really sore and straight off - "you need to get it whipped out"
@Stroan i should have run a quick pole of a bunch of relatives and men DH works with before even getting pregnant to truly please everyone!

Bit of a blurry pic but she arrived at 9.52pm last night Meet Ruby Ann, 2 hours after waters broken went on drip was in labour about 3 hours dilated very quickly feeling sore and bruised at the minute. Her sats kept dropping so she has needed monitoring through the night and had to have a bit of oxygen but she is doing fine now I can't stop looking at her x

Loads happening!
@Megan2018, mega congratulations. Lovely name.
@itakephotos, what a great birth story as others have pointed out.
Hope you're both enjoying baby time this morning.
Still pregnant here 40+5. Got a sweep this morning. Terrified after hearing the story earlier in the thread about the high cervix pulling and blood shudder.
DS is still coughing/barking like a dog and is mow on day 3 of high fever. Hopefully meaning it's the last day of it... @DustyDoorframes thank you, that was really good advice about expressing, dusting off the breast pump this afternoon but will try by hand first. Definitely can't hurt to give him some and much more healthy than child paracetamol I'd imagine!
