(6 Posts)Hi every1. I have 5 children and number 6 is due in 3 weeks. I have suffered postnatal depression in the past. My problem is Im feeling low, anxious, panicky and stressed out already.I cried for 3 hours yesterday! Ive never felt like this during pregnancy before. I need to talk to some1 who has felt or is feeling this way so I know Im not alone! Thanks.
Hi Clare I also suffered with antinatal depression with dd3 (now 9 weeks old. Have you spoken to your HV? It might be a good idea to speak to her or you GP before having your LO.
I had the panic attacks and could cry at the drop of a hat (still do)irrational fears of things happening to myself my 2 dd's and I was convinced my baby would not make it.
You are not alone. I am sure Rubarb has a website about antinatal depression, but not to sure if she is around MN anymore. I do know there are a few people on here who have suffered with this though.
my doctor gave me a very low dose medication as i was feeling so down, felt same way in both pregnancys. i did not want to go out and felt anxious all time and just sobbing uncontrolably at everything. my relationship started to suffer so i decided it was time tosee doctor. he was really nice about it, even offered me councelling. glad i went now s last time i left it and got post natal depression. so go speak to someone. it honestly does help
take care xxx
Can I ask you what medication you are on?
Hi all, I have become depressed from major stress at work and was very down before I became pregnant. Now people think I am reacting to the hormones but I feel the same as I did before I was pregnant. I have sought advice and help from my GP who has prescribed me 10mg of Citalopram for a couple of months to start with and a week off work.
Does anyone know if this is safe or wise and can anyone let me know what prescriptions they have been given and what dose (if any)?
Hello,
My situation is a little diffrent but thought i would share.
I have 2dc and with my second i had terrible deppression and axiety that just got worse after having my baby, i didnt get any help as i thought i was just not coping when i should be!!!
Anyway she is now 4 and i finally got help back in Nov and i wish i had done it sooner, there really was no need to struggle like that when you can get help i have been put on 20mg citalopram.
Me and DH are ttc no3 and my doctor said it is absolutley fine to take and if i need to up the dose if/when i get pregnant then he will help me further.
Please dont go through it on your own there is help out there and even though you may feel it wont get better it will
Good luck
