Couldn't see that anyone had started another thread after we filled up the last one, so hopefully I haven't made a double...

@Farmmum7 and @BananasAreTheSourceOfEvil today at work everyone commented on how huge I am since Monday. I was wearing a loose t-shirt so I thought I just looked fat, but they all felt I looked hugely pregnant. I don't think the waddle from my sore hip helped the overall look.

Thread 5!! Thanks, @PyjamasForever.

Took a trip to IKEA today for a look around... We agreed not to buy anything for the nursery until we've got the new carpet down & walls painted, but it has made me so impatient to have it all finished and ready!!

Still haven't had my 20 week scan so wanting to wait until after that as well. I'll be 20+6. The countdown is on!!

@Jojosayshello I love Ikea browsing, in fact I go there so much that my little boy sometimes asks to go there for a day out! Blush

Oh and I had the whooping cough etc jab and my arm is killing me!

Congrats LittleAndOften I have my 20week scan tomorrow and can’t wait to see baby again. I’m looking forward to the milestone to start getting organised with things.

That's so exciting @LittleandOften... well the 20 week scan is, not the whooping cough vaccine. I remember that being sore last time. I still need to book mine. Thanks for reminding me.

Feels like such an achievement to have reached halfway. Even though I've told myself I'm now allowed to buy stuff I haven't bought anything. I have an exam on Friday and then after that I might make a list so I know what I want to get this time. I keep seeing things like lovely blankets (that I really don't need) and being tempted.

Glad I found you all!

@BananasAreTheSourceOfEvil I swing between feeling big and worrying I'm too small almost 20 week scan time though!

@RainhamRosie your poor feet! My sandals are slightly tight when it's hot but nothing like yours!

Its been hard to get too excited as DH has been hospitalised but he made it to the scan which was really special.

@PyjamasForever good luck for your exam!

I hope your DH is on the mend @LittleAndOften. Always stressful when a loved one is poorly. Glad that your scan managed to bring a smile to your face.

16 weeks until my next scan (and maternity leave)! I just feel like time is going so fast this pregnancy. I just can't believe that it's only another 3 weeks until my baby would have a chance of survival outside of the womb (2 weeks at some hospitals particularly in Japan and the USA), just a mind blowing thought about how developed these little babies already are.

Oh congratulations @LittleAndOften! How exciting! sorry about your DH though, that must be really hard, hope he is ok.

I've got mine two weeks on Friday, can't wait!

So is there a later scan then? I thought there were only two?

No one has spoken to me about the whooping cough vaccine, is that something you go to the GP for or is it through your antenatal team?

I am feeling huge - and also have a waddle from some pelvic pain - but today I went to the hairdressers and mentioned I was pregnant and how far along and she thought I was really small! But then last week my midwife got me mixed up with one of her 36 week patients so.. 🤷🏻‍♀️

My trust has just brought in 36 week scans for everyone to check growth and position (it must be fairly new as they didn't do it last time). I don't think everywhere does to get, but quite a lot of places seem to.

It's recommended to have whooping cough vaccine between 16-32 weeks, so baby has some immunity after birth. My midwife told me about it, but I need to book a GP appointment to actually have it done. I was thinking about taking my toddler so he could see me not causing a fuss and hopefully then be relaxed for his next set of jabs, but it could go the other way and he might get really upset.

@motherofcats81 thank you. It's been a difficult week!

They did my whooping cough at the hospital just before my scan. I guess it depends on how your area does it. The vaccine protects against polio, diphtheria, tetanus and whooping cough. You create the antibodies and pass them to baby so they are protected when they're born.

@PyjamasForever do you mind if I ask where in the UK you are? I've just been told by a friend that ours do 36 week scans too but it's the first I'd heard. Not sure if it's just her that has one (and I'm getting the wrong message) or if it's everyone. I guess I'll find out more at my 20 week scan!

@dottydally I'm in Kent. Midwife told me at my booking appointment, but I think it's fairly recent. It's definitely a really good thing.

Does anybody know if after the 20 week scan you have to book the next midwife appointment through your GP or does it come through automatically? I can't find anything about the next appointment in the notes, I only remember that you had to book the first midwife appointment.

dottydally · 27/06/2019 08:39

@PyjamasForever @PrayingandHoping thank you both! I'll see if anything is said at my scan but it would be good if they do another.

For anyone that's felt movement yet, is it all low down? I kept thinking baby is head up which is why my movements are so low but then I remembered baby is still small so it might just be that!

dottydally · 27/06/2019 08:40

@cakeordeath89 my midwife booked my 24 week appointment when I saw her at 16 weeks. She's been very proactive though so it might not be the same everywhere!

Report
PyjamasForever · 27/06/2019 08:43

@cakeordeath99 my midwife always books our next appointment with me there, if you're unsure do you have a midwife number to call?

@dottydally I feel my movements all low down too. I think by 20 weeks your uterus is at the level of your belly button so it makes sense that the kicks and wriggles are below that.

@dottydally all my movements have been really low down - it's really bubbly throughout the morning all below my belly button!

Thanks, I don't recall my my midwife booking it but my memory is shocking at the moment. I think I might give the GP surgery a call after my scan next week as I need to book for my whooping cough anyway.

@PyjamasForever I really don't remember her giving me a direct number - only the triage number at the midwife unit. It's really awkward getting appointments with the midwife because she only does Monday's or if that gets booked up then Tuesdays but you're only allowed to book the next available appointment so I have to keep calling back if I can't to the appointment they offer. My problem is that Monday is my busiest day at work as I work in payroll and I can't really afford time out so have to keep waiting until it rolls over onto the Tuesday appointments. I know it's only a minor thing in the grand scheme of things!

Report
PyjamasForever · 27/06/2019 08:55

@Cakeordeath89 that sounds like a really frustrating system. Could you ask for an appointment either first or last on a Monday and then just either be a little late or a little early leaving? I've had to do the same as one of my appointments was a Monday (also my busiest day at work) and it just couldn't be moved. I'm still feeling guilty about leaving my colleague 2hrs early (daft appointment is a 45 min drive away!!), but better than being missing in the middle of the day.

Hello!

@PyjamasForever that fab you are getting a late scan. I'm going to try and push for one. I only found out my first was breech on my due date having been told for weeks she was head down and engaged. It's not something I want to repeat (led to 3 days sat nil by mouth in hospital waiting for them to fit me in for c-section and not being allowed home in case I went into labour!). Think I will be super anxious/not believe the midwife without seeing position on a scan.

@LittleAndOften hope your DH is ok.
