Hi all,

I'm looking at antenatal classes and I can see Bump and Baby Club listed, has anyone used them and would you recommend them? I've heard better reviews of NCT recently so not sure which to try...

Thank you :)

I never went to the NCT one as we didn't have the money at the time and although the free classes were very informative, certainly at mine no one was keen to keep in touch, but everyone I speak to who went to an NCT made friends as I think people go to them with the intention of making friends. So hard to know what to do x

Yes I attended bump and baby. It was really good. I think you get a few extra stuff then nct but I could be wrong. Like baby first aid. I should imagine they are very alike. The time in the evening of the bump and baby group suited DH and me also plus the sessions were in a pub with a beer and breastfeeding session which got DH's vote. Lol.

Do you feel it covered everything thoroughly? I've can see the course is shorter than the NCT signature.

Never heard of Bump & Baby Club - did NCT with DD but not with my DS.
NCT was good, especially for making friends/connections which were invaluable in that first year. Made a best friend there, and the whole group tries to meet up once a year.

Not sure I'd be happy discussing everything birth related in a pub though!

@APurpleSquirrel it's in a private room in a pub.

Hi all, did any of you do bump and baby club in the end and if so how did you find it? I’m weighing up the various ante natal classes options right now but can’t find many reviews online.

I have seen many babies try to walk as soon as possible. I have read it somewhere on babywalksguide.com that baby walker helps the baby walk fast and also it is safe for them.

I'd not heard of bump and baby club
We did NCT and whilst I could have found 90% of the information online, the opportunity to chat with others was valuable. The real benefit of NCT was one the babies arrived.

I'm due my first later this year and had a similar debate between the two and ended up going with bump & baby. To be honest I think they are probably very similar in terms of content and the main aim is to meet people hopefully! Bump & baby takes up to 10 couples near me so slightly more than NCT which was one slight nudge towards it. Other than that I just looked at the scheduling and locations and which would work best for me and my husband and bump & baby was more convenient in the due date groups we fell into. I think a lot of the course leaders are NCT trained.

To be straightforward I think they are likely practically the same as far as happy and the principal point is to ideally click meet individuals! Knock and child takes up to 10 couples close to me so somewhat more than NCT which was one slight prod towards it.

it struck them that there wasn't one that lio was intended for the versatile.

I did bump and baby. The course was great. But I think nct might be better than B and B for making friends. There's more classes and they seem to be really able to put you in a class with people that live really nearby (probably because more people do nct). I made one friend from b n b and a few others that faded out after. Everyone I know that did nct made a good few friends and built a better support network.

I did the Bump and Baby classes in September this year (South London) and from the get go although I could see people were pleasant enough, no-one was really interested in becoming ‘mummy friends’ and very few lived in my direct area (most were in the next town). Furthermore, I didn’t warm to the teacher (unfortunately) who bordered on scaremongering to being a bit patronising at times. :(
Also there was a lot of emphasis on a natural birth and breastfeeding and not enough on the alternatives (which I will be trying) so sometimes the information was helpful, but not always relevant. I was mainly disappointed by the lack of want to
socialise in the group. I thought this would be a part of it and I’d make new friends but that didn’t really happen.

We recently complete our Bump and Baby classes (North London) and had a worryingly similar experience to @Persephone12 As such, in future, I’d stick to NCT classes as they’re not (personally) worth the money
