Hi,

It looks like we filled up the last thread before anyone had a chance to start a new one, so here we go! Hope everyone finds their way over.

@twittlebee could you possibly link to the Google Doc again?

@karigan195 so glad you were seen again and got a bonus scan. Lovely to get a bit of reassurance too, hope the next 7 days go quickly for you.

I have been so so so so bloody rough again today (had to throw up in the loos at Tesco, blurgh!) - I shall get round to going GPs tomorrow for that morning sickness meds (btw they are safe during pregnancy right?)

@twittlebee snap! I'm working from home but popped into tesco after the nursery drop off. I've not been near a supermarket in weeks and made the mistake of walking past the meat and fish counter. Thankfully made it to the toilet - yesterday I was sick in the street. The wind blew my hair into my mouth, and I immediately vomited. Definitely a low point in my life.

There are new meds called Xonvea which are licensed for use in pregnancy now and have been used in the US and Canada for decades. Most others have the caveat of not being tested on pregnant women but being considered safe. Most have been used for many years and with no evidence of problems. The doctor will run through all of that with you.

It's a worry, but to be honest, the alternative for me wasn't worth thinking about. I've seen a Consultant Obstetrician who had no concerns which set my mind at ease.

Thanks for the new thread!
I had a horrible headache and dizzy spell yesterday, then this morning proper full on sick!
So glad my boss knows as was able to go in 1.5hrs late no questions asked, I had head down the loo for a good hour. Very grateful this hasn’t been a regular occurrence for me! I’ve been sick once in the morning most other days this last week but feel instantly better. Not today.

My scan is a week today! Can’t come soon enough-I am so anxious that there is nothing there.

Thanks for the new thread and congratulations on everyone who has had their latest scans (and commiserations to those of you feeling dreadful - really makes me realise how lucky I am to have escaped feeling ill). I had a scan yesterday and NIPT - results should take about a week. Baby was very active waving hands around and so lovely to see. Feels much more real and not just like I’ve eaten all the pies and can’t do my trousers up 🤣. Best wishes to everyone x

@firstbabybean
How long roughly did your NIPT appointment take? I forgot to ask when booking, we have it early at 8.30 so I don't have all day to stress about it!
Good luck with your results.

Thanks for the new thread! I tried to post on the other one and couldn’t work out why it wouldn’t load 🤦🏻‍♀️

I’ve got my booking in appointment later today - silly question, do we take our old blue notes to this appointment or will they have all the details of last pregnancy/labour on their system?

Report
firstbabybean · 13/02/2019 11:09

Hi @Megan2018 it was quick, about half an hour max. You fill out a form then they scan you and take measurements of the baby (but was too early to do the nuchal fold measurements for me) then take blood. I had the SAFE test which I think is slightly more reliable than the Harmony test and the blood gets analysed in the UK rather than the US. Good luck with your results too, we opted to find out the sex too. Exciting and nerve wracking at the same time.

They are meant to keep you notes when they discharge you from the last pregnancy! (Really annoying in my case, as i had some issues postpartum which related to stuff in the notes, which the hospital had kept, so I had to carry around a load of scrappy paper for a while...
I'd bring them, if you still have them.

Had my early scan this morning, all looking fine and measuring 10+3 so a couple of days ahead of what I thought. Two weeks til dating scan now so think I might relax more after than one.

So nervous, I have my 9w scan later today. Feeling so sick so hoping it's good news. I'll feel so much more relaxed after this one. My only experience so far with a scan this late is with my MMC. Struggling at times to imagine a different outcome. Hopefully I'm just being melodramatic 🤞

@GemmaJen I was the same this morning I had just assumed it would be bad news same as last time. Hope it's good news for you too!

@Easterbuns1 it's a BABYYYYYYYY!!!! That's a brilliant scan pic, yay!

@GemmaJen so hard to stay positive! The odds are massively stacked in your favour, but hard to get your brain to believe it. Not long now...

Thanks for the new thread! Lovely to see all the scan pictures, I'm so eager for mine now. I'm convinced that this isn't real.

You don't need to take notes from previous pregnancies with you, they will be accessible on the computer by your midwife and when i go to the hospital they get all the paper copies out. This being #5 my pile is huge and makes me wonder if when Sue Radford has babies do they actually get ALL of hers out?

I had a scan last week thought was 11 weeks but was only 9! So now have another in 2 and a half weeks.

@boodles I’m the same. Want Tuesday to come quickly! Lovely scan pics xx

TwittleBee · 13/02/2019 13:25

Yeah it all has been computerised for me here with the Notes at my NHS Trust but they still wanted me to verify verbally about previous pregnancies, guess they just wanted to cross check!

That reminds me actually IVEgottheDECAF ...

I was bloomin mortified at how the nurse made comment about my "huuuuge file" at the EPU! She said I will soon need my own filing cabinet! Felt like saying to her, well maybe if I didnt keep having MCs or bleeding through pregnancies my file wouldnt be so big! Felt really insensitive.

There's some brilliant pics here. You can tell they're babies and everything!

Booking in appointment fine yesterday, cringed at the fact I'm probably close to half a stone heavier already, due to the fact the only thing that stops the nausea is having food in my mouth. Scan is booked for Friday 8th March, which is ages away! It was very weird seeing my old pregnancy notes for DD- she's 15 today so it felt like ancient history!

The midwife was telling me that they're doing the new holistic care scheme in our area, so I'm going to be seeing that midwife at every appointment possible, or a midwife from that very small team, including for midwifery led/ home births and post natal care if I choose to be part of it. I liked her, so quite happy with that! She was saying it's quite lovely that she is now going to get the chance to see the babies being born and afterwards that she's helped to care for in pregnancy. Is this the case everywhere now?

Not here. I have a temp midwife for the next few months as they are struggling to get someone in to do it. So i know ill definitely have that change. None of my previous mws have ever delivered my baby (i have had 4). I have also found the mws who visit after birth really vary too. No consistency here at all. Seeing a consultant this time as higher risk. So maybe she will be consistent but i wont hold my breath

Twittle that is really insensitive Shock

Yeah I think they are trying to roll it out in most places KnobJockey ! It has been like that for us past 2 years here. My sister just missed out on it with her first before they rolled it in, I was one of the first in the area in the new system. It is great if you like your MW but not so much if you have issues (e.g. mine didn't believe in SPD... so I had to just shut up and put up)

have to say my MW this time around seems nice actually but i did notice her nails were longer than they should be, actually looked like she had acrylics on... didnt think NHS staff were allowed those?

@firstbabybean we opted to find out the gender with our NIPT too...I can't believe this time next week we will know whether we are having a boy or girl!
Less than a week until 12 week scan now and only a week left of the first trimester...this has been the longest 6 weeks of my life!
