It's a bit mad to think that if this thread takes a few weeks to fill up then I may well have had the baby by the time this thread finishes, (as I'm one of the first ones due being officially an imposter with a late November due date now). Also I imagine that because there's so many of us at least a few of us are going to be early and may well have babies by the end of this thread. Ekk!

In other news 2 weeks and 4 days left until I finish work. My boss managed to (inadvertently) upset me yesterday by talking to me about a promotion opportunity... that she's planning to give to someone else. I'm one of the most senior staff in the team but she told me the last time an opportunity came up that there was no point me applying for it as I wasn't able to be flexible enough due to having to work set days for childcare reasons, so I'm not sure why I'm surprised. Also I know it's really a bit silly to be thinking about work promotions less than 3 weeks before I go off on maternity leave, but I just find it so frustrating that by having children by manager basically completely over-looks me now for promotions. I don't think it's that she's got any issues with me personally either (on the contrary she's very chatty with me, has made me her facebook friend, and has given me good feedback on my work). I just feel so frustrated right now that my career is pretty much on hold for years whilst I have young children.

I actually bought some stuff for my hospital bag at the weekend (maternity pads, breast-feeding pads, nipple cream etc). Just got to pack it all soon along. May try and do it this week before I turn 33 weeks just in case.

I don't think I'll be doing any 'during labour' posts. As my first labour was quite quick (6 hours) and the contractions got very intense very quickly, I think posting on here probably won't be happening this time either. I will post a pic of baby once she arrives though!

I've told the baby in no uncertain terms that he's to aim for 30th November delivery (his brother was 2 weeks early so hoping that's not unfeasible). Of course I know he's going to be stubborn and manage Christmas Day instead Grin Fortunately we're very close to the hospital now so I'll just walk in, have baby, walk back and cook Christmas dinner, right??

New thread!!

kitkat I know how you feel re being overlooked. There's a lot of changes going on at my work, but I'm just trying to put it out of my mind and count down the days until I finish - only 2 weeks to go!

My belly button is stretching so much it was stinging yesterday. I have a laparoscopy scar and I think it's that that's pulling. Sad

Thank you so much for putting me on the thread kit! Wow not long until you finish work now, so exciting!!!

Ive had a meeting with a nasty bitch consultant midwife about ELCS, it was humiliating and I cried like a baby. She was awful Sad

KitKat I'm sorry to hear your boss is not considering you for promotons, it's so unfair! Is there maybe some way you can convey to her that you're still in the market for promotions later on? I don't have any magic solutions to the career/children conandrum, returning to work after having my first child (have now been back one year) has been an experience of being effectively demoted by being given less imporant work to do, although still having same salary etc. Their excuse is that I work reduced hours (don't work Fridays)and can't be so flexible and stay longer if there are urgent deadlines, which is true, but I can still WFH in the evening to finish off things after I put DD to bed, if they gave me stuff that needed urgently doing! It's so frustrating that the work culture is still so rigid and biased towards mothers.

Hope everyone is feeling good and various appointment/check -ups go well.

I called in sick yesterday as I was feeling absolutely rubbish, mainly completely exhausted. Stayed in bed till 1pm and then just managed to do some light housework before picking up DD from nursery. Am finding this second pregnancy SO MUCH harder than the first one! Anyone with me on that? Can't even fathom how you third, fourth of fifth time mums are coping! I guess it's just the added work of already having a child to look after, but then maybe also that my body is more worn out? Wasn't feeling this tired at this stage last time. Found a picture of myself 10 days before DD was born two years ago, and I swear (and DH agreed when I showed him) that my bump then is the size it is this time round at 30 weeks! Yikes.

Sounds horrible mozfan. Is this a one off meeting or will you have to see her again?

I was wondering about how they plan c sections. Is it normally at 39 weeks? My DS was born at 39 weeks, so if I needed one would they schedule it earlier?

Hi everyone!

I haven't checked in on these threads for ages, but I like to think I have a pretty good excuse: My girls made an early arrival two weeks ago, at 29+2 weeks! One of my twins had stopped growing and was experiencing some problems with blood flow from the placenta, and so they needed to get them out asap via c-section! I always knew one twin was smaller so this didn't come as a total surprise, but of course I had still hoped to keep them in as long as possible.

Long story short: My girls are very, very small (one a bit smaller than 2lb, one a bit bigger) but they are doing extremely well considering their size. They are still in NICU and will be for quite a while, but there have been no major disasters so far. They just need to feed and grow!

We feel so happy and lucky to be blessed with two such amazing little humans. NICU is an incredible place, stressful at times, but there is also lots of love and joy and sometimes even laughter!

Not sure how often I'll be able to return to this thread (pretty busy cuddling my girls, and expressing for them non-stop), but if I disappear again for a while - I wish you all the best!

Hi soloman, am I right you're in Holland? Sorry if I've made that up completely! In in the uk, here an ELCS is performed at 39 weeks but you go in two days before. I had to see her, not really sure why but it was completely unhelpful. I now have a meeting with a consultant who was at that birth of my son in the next couple of weeks so hopefully he will be more sympathetic. I NEED ELCS. She has no idea what is going on in my head and was completely detached from it all it was awful. It's because of gynaecological issues that I want it, and she wrote off the knowledge of gynaecologists saying 'well they write their own books so I wouldn't trust them' ... What the fuck?!

With regards to prolapse which is my problem, I am disgusted at the midwifes view of it all. It's so mysoginystic it's unreal. I am not a militant feminist by any means, but when I said I suffered minor prolapse during my last birth, she said 'the routine is to have your children and then 'reupholster' your pelvic floor when you are finished'. I'm sorry, but to me that is unacceptable. I am 23 years old, I do not want to have a bad quality of life. I am not purely a baby maker, I am a human being. It's so fucking demeaning it's unreal. Fucking hell

Hi everyone! Not posted for ages but been lurking Grin. 8 weeks to go and feeling on the homestretch and finally had an answer as to why I have been feeling SO COMPLETELY EXHAUSTED - v low iron levels (not just my 2 year old it turns out!) Docs have put me on supplements and treated myself to steak last night yum yum (though can't wait for the practically mooing rare one post-baby!) Starting to panic a little about coping with two... but have begun to sort babies things out which is exciting!
Has anyone got anywhere with baby names? DH and I can only agree on one, so I guess that will be it!
Hope everyone is well and sleeping a bit better now the heat has gone Smile

NotAClue Congratulations!!! So glad you and your little ones are OK and improving by the day!

mozfan she sounds awful and I hope you don't have to have any more to do with her. My first midwife was a bit like that, luckily I didn't have to discuss anything too important with her, but in the midst of awful pregnancy sickness she would just shrug and say 'Well, you're pregnant' - not even a 'Oh dear, sounds tough'. No empathy whatsoever, and she regarded pregnant women as hysterical inconveniences. She also went on holiday without cancelling her clinic, we were all sitting around wondering where she was, the receptionist had no idea either. I think she was in the wrong profession!

I've got an appointment for a 'birth afterthoughts' session, to go through my first labour again. I can't remember a lot of it and have no explanation for other bits so I'm hoping it will be helpful and help me with no. 2.
