I don't know what I'm doing but seen the message saying another thread was needed. I don't know what to add to this but though.

Erm. I'm Derek btw. 35 week on Thursday and due 6/10/16

Sorry but I have no idea what I'm doing 😂

Ah phew!! I thought I'd lost the new thread! How are you feeling now Derek? I remember commenting on another thread saying to join the October group, hope things are more settled now :).

Can't believe it's thread 6!!

Place marking

I can't believe it's thread 6 but I also can't believe that babies will be arriving in a few weeks (although I know the fb group has seen its first arrival 😊)

Can't believe the first baby has been born! I debate going back on facebook especially since I'll no doubt feel even more out of touch with things on mat leave....but then I remember how much it did my head in. Maybe I'll give it another go.

Ah I keep forgetting about the fb group! After HV visit today I feel less prepared than yesterday! Ack! She seems nice though :)

Who's had a baby??? I'm not on face book!!!
Wow it's getting real now. I've still got 4 weeks left at work and not even thought about packing my hospital bag.

Report
SchnitzelvonKrummsverylowtum · 30/08/2016 21:33

I haven't started packing my bag yet either! I did wash and dry all of the newborn clothes we had for DS today, get the car seat out, and get out the snuzpod. I'm hoping to have most stuff sorted by the end of the week as I'm back in work on Monday.

Hope everyone is doing ok.

Who has had their baby??

Baby is still quiet but there have been some movements so I'm hoping he's just having a rest or kicking in a different direction. I found my heart monitor today and he gave it a few good kicks when I listened in, he seems to hate ultrasound machines!

Glad you are back Derek, I was wondering how things were going. Are you feeling any more prepared? I'm not sure I do, not even got a hospital bag yet!

Derek if you want to add yourself to the list just copy and paste it to a new post. I've started my mat leave already, officially 22nd August but used leave to finish on the 5th. I had to finish early as we were moving out of the area.

When is everyone being seen by the midwife next? I was told 34, 36, 38 and 40 weeks by the old team of midwives at my 31 week appointment, however I can't get an appointment till 35 weeks in the new area so that's gone out the window a bit. Anyone had a tour of the hospital where you'll give birth yet?

Report
Redken24 · 31/08/2016 08:04

We have had the tour, it was interesting seeing everything.
Hoping for water birth! what about everyone else?

Karina I have 7 midwives that I can see. Never the same one. I saw mine yesterday and will again on the 15th.

They do tours?! Mine doesn't. But I went there with the first born anyway plus all over accidentsGrin

My last day was meant to be the 17th but I had holidays so took them before. So next Thursday will be my last shift.

Checking in.

Lisa I replied to your PM last week about the fb group - I need you to accept my request on fb before I can add you.

We have had a first arrival - mum's name on here was pandaglasses but I don't think she's posted for a while. The fb group has been running for 6 months or so now, so there are quite a few people who just use fb exclusively.

Hope everyone is feeling well.

hi checking in for roll call Smile daydream 86, 34+5,
times flying by again at this stage for me, and it's my first week of maternity week this week, bliss! yesterday's conundrum was staring at all the bottle feeding equipment and formula in asda and trying to make sense of the different formulas. I fully and strongly intend to breastfeed but if it doesn't work out for whatever reason I'd like to be prepared for that 4am meltdown, so I bought a pack of 6 cow&gate sterile ready to feed formulas. anybody else got a plan B in place for Bfeeding?

Report
Kariana · 31/08/2016 11:28

Redken I'm hoping for the same in the midwife led unit. It's on a hospital site but not our nearest hospital if that makes sense. It's about a half hour drive away (outside rush hour), am I insane not to go for the nearest hospital? All my midwife care will be at the nearest one.

Daydream I'm getting plan b ready, although so far it's just been ordering one of those machines that makes up the formula for you. Don't actually have any bottles or formula yet, but the machine was on offer!

Morning all! 31+5 here.

Had 32 week scan/appt today. Babies are doing fine, both remain head down and they're big chunks! One has put on 12oz and the other 9oz since last scan two weeks ago, weighing approx 3lb13oz and 3lb7oz. My tum is measuring at 41 weeks so 9 weeks ahead of time so far, explains the sudden increase in back pain anyway!!

Had a quick discussion re birth with the consultant so if all stays as it is we'll try vaginal with an epidural, if twin 1 turns at all between down and labour it'll be section. Twin 1 has stayed head down since 20 weeks though so I'd be really surprised if he/she moved.

Can't believe theres 1 baby already here and I seen today on FB there's a second mum in hospital with broken waters. Getting very very VERY real now isn't it!

Daydream I'm picking up a pack of the Aptamil or Cow&Gate ready to go bottles for the hospital aswell. I don't have any plans to breastfeed but I don't want to go into hospital and not having anything either, I have a perfect prep machine at home for when we're out.

If he's late (which he probably will be) I won't be impressed! Can't stand lateness haha

Redken/Kariana I also would like to get in the pool in my local midwife led unit, I'm booked on the antenatal in a few weeks which includes a tour. I'm not sure how many pools they have but if my midwife appointments are anything to go off there are a lot of women having babies in my area at the moment! The past few appointments haven't been official appointment times, I've had to turn up and they've squeezed me in. Kariana I'll be at my nearest hospital/MLU which is around a 30 minute drive away; personally I'd go with my preferred place of birth for the sake of a short increase in journey time- what was it that made you decide against the MLU nearest to you?

Daydream I'm planning on breastfeeding but have no back-up other than getting DH to go to the nearest 24 hr supermarket for formula if needed. I'm pretty stubborn though! Hopefully it'll work out ok- we'll see!
