Thanks all. No had the badge on and displayed prominently I just clearly have a commute full of arseholes. Tonight I will make no bones about demanding a seat.

I was just shocked at how many people just ignored me. Seriously - how bloody rude are people?!

Not looking forward to route home. Am thinking of walking from South Ken to Victoria and then it's only one bus and a train. Still long though.

But on a happier note - the big 12 on sun! And scan a week on sat! Almost at the final week of countdown!

Pug if they ignore you definitely point to the badge and say 'please could I sit down, I did ask politely, however I'm pregnant and am likely to either faint or throw up on you if I remain standing'...

Also, depending where your office is that's likely a 40min walk no?

Pug and Romeo - I share your tube strike pain. Today I arrived at the train station to find a platform queue 6 people deep - clearly the all nearby tube commuters had decided to take the train I get every day. I had my badge on but only just made it onto the train so no one could really see it. Fortunately a lovely lady with a loud voice saw me and then announced into the carriage that there was a pregnant lady who needed a seat. I was ushered to the nearest group of 4 seats where there was a lady sitting with her 3 children. She glared at me then pulled her daughter (who was sitting next to her) towards her leaving half a seat (with a width of about 15cm). I smiled at her and politely explained that I might need a tiny bit more space than that but she glared at me some more and then told her daughter to stand in front of her. On sitting down I thanked her but she completely ignored me! Then she and her children got off at the next stop anyway! I don't understand how people can be so incredibly rude and selfish, especially a lady who has clearly been through pregnancy 3 times!! Seriously though, I was so glad for my seat - the standing space was unbearably packed and tempers were running high. Am dreading the journey home...

Marking my place here!

Sounds pretty crap for you Londoners. I've been out n about in London at rush hour before and it was mayhem. And that was a day with a tube service! Move up north, we're a decent bunch! Smile

Teenie Could you update my stats please. Due date is now 12th Jan, and 20 week scan is 28th August. I'd do it myself but spreadsheets don't like me. Good job I don't work in an office! Blush

i know i feel sorry for you having such long commute's a long with such uncaring people! Sad i would have always offer my chair on the bus/train when an pregnant or elderly person got on! i luckly only commute for 10 mins in my car now after moving closer to my work so atleast i don't have a 1.5hr journey on a bus and train any more Smile

pug I have had the same experience whilst wearing my badge and so don't bother wearing it anymore! Someone told me that if you're not showing much then people don't believe you're really pregnant. Apparently some women do order the badge even though they're not pregnant just so they get a seat, which I found quite shocking and unbelievable, so not sure how true it is. I tend to just stick my know very prominent tummy out.

How much is everybody else showing? I'm worried that I'm too big and it's really just fat.... everyone I've told at work recently said they had guessed and have made loads of comments about how big I am! Will try and take a bumpie later to give you an idea.

Delurking (it's been a busy week!) and place marking Smile

I used to live in London, bet the tube strike has been hell today! Blue and Pug can't believe how rude some people are - I'm up in Yorkshire, and the last time my friend was pregnant she said that every time she got on a packed bus it pretty much caused a mexican wave with people trying to give her a seat!!

Hit the 12 week mark today so am really chuffed. Six days until my scan!

Has anyone else had their risk assessment done at work yet? HR did mine today, and I was impressed at how seriously they took it - within an hour of me pointing out that my chair wasn't suitable the lady in charge of finance was measuring up my desk for a new one! I was quite impressed (and excited about a new chair, how sad!)

I'm sure I'm being dim here but I don't find myself less able to stand just now. Isn't that mainly when you're carrying a lot of extra weight further down the line?

I'm defo too big for 10+4. It's very obvious.

MaybeMrsMum2016 · 09/07/2015 17:12

Valancy I do quite a physical job in the NHS and my supervisor did my risk assessment a few days after I told him about baby. Still on my to-do list is contact HR about mat leave, returning to work and all that. I wanted to wait until I'd had the scan before dealing with the next lot of paperwork.

Sometimes I feel like I'm showing but usually it turns out to be bloating, trapped wind, or needing the toilet! Blush As the scan put me slightly further along than I thought I was, bump might be appearing properly very soon! Smile

Ooh thanks oyster not just me then!

I think it's not just about carrying the extra weight but also about feeling nauseous and dizzy. My legs are also getting a bit swollen by the end of the day since being pregnant and don't think it's good to let blood pool in your feet when pregnant.

Thanks brickie and teenie!

I'm 12 weeks tomorrow, feels like a milestone. I've been telling a few more distant friends by text and email - funnily enough several of my old school friends are also expecting right now so we seem to be having a mini baby boom Smile

My commute, while long, is fairly simple as it's just one bus. I get the tube occasionally and do some travelling in London and around the south east and west for work. I'm not getting a baby on board badge as I just don't feel the need for one for me personally - I'm comfortable asking if I need a seat before I'm showing (or after!) and don't think a badge will make much difference to people's attention or niceness levels Smile

Re the bump, I don't have anything even approaching one yet. This is DC1 so not expecting to show for quite a while yet. My tummy's a bit more rounded and I'm definitely bloated a lot of the time but being quite petite I'm luckily getting away with it! Still, can't get into my trousers or jeans comfortably any more so changes are obviously afoot even if they're not noticeable...
