Yeah my FMU is crap, I tested with FMU the day after I got my BFP and it was so faint I could hardly see it. Tested 3 hours later and good strong line.

I did drink about two litres of water this afternoon so in retrospect I'm not surprised it was lighter!

parsnip I don't continually test after someone once said to me on here 'pregnancy tests are designed to give a yes or no answer, not show progression or problems' and I've found repeating that calms me down!

Rather than POAS Im just here going insane at 5 weeks hmm

I also think if something's going to go wrong at this stage, I can't do anything about it. I made DP hide my thermometer for the same reason.

I hadn't realised dilution of urine made a difference once AF was late though.

Congrats Melon and welcome to anyone else I've missed (last thread filled up fast!)

Parsnip I had two last week that looked like that - second one fainter - and worried but it was fine and all to do with using morning wee instead of afternoon wee! I'm keeping my fingers crossed, how dilute and how long it's held does seem to still affect it. Try not to worry (I realise the irony of me telling someone not to worry, I'm the biggest worrier around!) I think thermometer hiding is sensible!

I did a cheap internet one today after a few days break, and my line was almost as dark as the control which I got very excited about! Think my OH is quite looking forward to when I stop running downstairs to show him things I've wee'd on!!

Just about to nip out to my doctor's appointment, quite excited to be deemed officially up the duff!

Since we're not supposed to cook meat that is not completely cooked through does that mean it's a no to rare steak? Is there any real tangible risk at all. I wouldn't eat it well done ever and I'm not sure I can go another 7.5 months with no steak.

Actually I've just remembered I ate a big juicy rare steak about a fortnight ago. Whoops. blush

Brickie yes it's no to rare steak. I honestly wouldn't worry too much though. And I feel your pain as I like to eat my steak basically still alive.

Could you not just freeze the steak first and that eliminates all risk of toxoplasmosis? Am I missing something there?

I'd never eat well done steak by choice either but had some in last pregnancy and it was actually pretty good.

Had more queasiness today, after feeling fine-ish since the BFP! So sick yet though, yay! 5+3 today so I guess if I'm going to get 'proper' sickness, chances are it'll show up within the next week or so.

Thanks for the new thread brickie. How's everyone doing? I was about to poas and then talked myself down! There is nothing I can do so there is no point. Plus I could do with saving the money for little cute things!

Valancy good luck at the Gp's I called the midwife today to self refer. I was told to call back next week but they want to see me before 8 weeks, currently only 4 weeks 4 days!
Boobs are so sore here... Currently have to hold them when I jog up the stairs...Thankfully no real sickness yet... I now it's very early!
Anyone else so bloated that they look 5 months pregnant already. Thank god for well positioned scarfs

I'd forgotten about rare steak shock. However Dr Google tells me that toxoplasmosis can be killed by cooking (up to 70 deg C) or freezing, so I would have thought previously forzen steak might be ok. Also, medium rare steak should be done to an internal temperature of 71 deg, so you could eat med/pink steak and be ok with those guidelines.

I have just rediscovered my pregnancy drink of choice - hot water with fresh lime juice. Delish!

I think "rare" steak is very different in the UK to over here. If I remember well, you could probably go for medium and still be fine, but if you are worried in any way then best to go for well done.

I have already had this problem over here. I obviously don't have a bump yet, so get really annoyed looks when I ask waiters for really specific things. I ordered a burger a while ago, and asked for it "well done. No wait, I would like it BURNT please. No I'm not joking."

When he brought it over he made this big flourish about it being "SUPER well cooked borderline burnt!!". It was still a bit pink inside. I still ate it, though next time I might pull out the "BECAUSE I AM PREGNANT" card. Or just avoid it.

The french do not understand how to actually cook meat!!! (unless you prefer it pink).

Well cooked is medium
Medium is rare
and rare is raw! grin

I have to have my steak blue - can't eat it otherwise. It literally is a case of putting it on the heat and flipping after 5 seconds and then serve!

Gutted that the day before I found out I was pregnant, DH offered to cook me steak and I said I wasn't in the mood for it - now having to wait 9 blinking months!

impatiently that place in Jesmond has offered me an appointment on Sat 6thJune! So early scan - will be nice, as I had early scan at 9/10 weeks with DC1 (although it was due to bleeding), so will be nice to compare!

I had to change my 'go-to' fat day top today, as you could see a bump... although when I told my mum and then held top against tummy, she said that it was just fat / bloat! To be fair, there is bloat but also a small bump that I can't hold in... getting very concerned that I won't be able to hide it at work (particularly as I'm not wanting to let work know until about week 15 due to promotion issues).
