Hello everyone - popping back in after a hectic period at work and now I'm just about caught back up and able to breath again! Think I last updated after my 20 week scan, where everything was going fine; everything still seems to be going fine, although the wriggling and kicking has started in earnest, which is... just odd. People always talk about the 'seeing a hand or foot through the tummy' stage of late pregnancy, but not about this early bit where there's the occasional ripple and bulge. Honestly, if you think about how profoundly odd it is, it's a testament to our intellectual hard-wiring how easily we accept it as something that just is.

Still not in maternity clothes, as I've always dressed to fit my thighs and all the baby growth is happening where the clothes have some space to expand at the moment. I'm showing if you know to look for it, but not if you don't, and that's fine with me! Main symptom is currently feeling knackered, but frankly as it's after a crunch time at work, I'd be feeling that anyway so it's hard to tell the difference...

Yes thanks Brixton.

Going to eat loads of wonderfully unhealthy stuff at friend's Christmas party tonight so have been trying to behave today.

Obvs have still had loads of advent chocs and randomly, some mini smarties lying around in the office.

The staff at the deli were sampling organic limoncello when I went to get my lunch today, it took all my strength and fortitude to decline the offer of a little glass. That was at 1pm so goodness knows what state they're all in now - good for them I say.

Daholster - waitrose sells Cointreau cream if you want to give yourself one less job to do. We've got some in the fridge as well as the cognac butter to go into the mince pies. Poor Yoko - none for her!

Just marking my place.

I was feeling very nestie today. I cleaned the kitchen! Drew the line at cleaning out the cupboards and the fridge though. Still yay for me for doing something constructive today other than hang out with DD.

I always wonder how people get the energy for nesting... last month of pregnancy both previous times I mainly wanted to rest!

Marking my place. Not had much chance to read through. Things are manic here. Mums partner is coming out of hospital today and they're coming to live with us for the foreseeable future so my house looks like a care home with commodes and Zimmer frames and my dining room is now a bedroom!

All that with a blind dog and me on crutches makes for an interesting christmas!

Hope everyone is well xx

Ooh new thread already. I'm still feeling rubbish trying to get over my cold but saw two of my good friends today who felt little one having a wriggle which was lovely. He doesn't seem to like to perform so it can be difficult for others to catch him kicking.

23 weeks today.

Just got some news about DHs step mum. It's not good, we're talking weeks to live not good. It's just very awkward as one of his brothers isn't talking to his dad even though his dad is oblivious to the fact and now were all wondering if he's going to drop his grudge (a good 5 years so far l) and go see him or if poor DH has to break the news as to why his brother hasn't come.

It's really not an appropriate conversation to have at a funeral is it. Sorry your wife's dead but your son isn't speaking to you so that's why he hasn't come!

Sorry about your step mum in law lauren. I hope you all get to enjoy some time together while you can and BIL comes through...

TMI alert, look away now...

Mucus plug!!! I haven't been worrying too much about this since I've had no bleeding or anything. My last pregnancy I didn't have loads of discharge, and I've definitely had more this time - again, not worried about that, no bad colour, no smell.

But sometimes it's really thick. This last week I have had a few days where I have tummy ache a lot, my BHs are definitely coming back again, and I'm a bit uncomfortable - like today. And huge blobs of this yellow thick stuff come out! Some even came down my leg earlier, gross!!! It's like my mucus plug was when in early labour last time, but without the red stuff. It's very thick and quite stiff.

I know it regenerates but the amount of it is making me nervous... I'm going to mention it to the MW on the 29th but is anyone else having similar or can reassure me?

Sorry for the gross post, but the graphics help me put it into perspective how copious it can be!

Embarrassed now... Xmas Blush will refrain from getting MNHQ to delete... Cos I really would like to know what you think... Sorry...

Sorry to hear your news, Lauren Flowers

I went to visit a friend today and we ended up at the harvester, so my food list for the day looks like:

2 slices apricot jam on Toast
1 finger of twix
few cups of tea
Harvester salad bowl (shared with DD)
Half rack of ribs and sweet potato chips
cherry and apple crumble with custard
pork korma and rice.

It's christmas and I'm pregnant, so...meh.

My stats:

BonjourMinou, age 32, 2 cats, 2 chickens, 1 baby, 1 bump at 23 + 1 weeks.

Really sorry to hear that Lauren.

Wine I'm doing NCT classes starting first week of February. More to meet people than to learn much but looking forward to them.

daholster I can't offer anything useful but would definitely mention to midwife for a professional opinion.

BonjourMinou · 22/12/2014 20:57

crossposted with you, daholster, I would just give the antenatal ward (mine is called a maternity assessment centre?) a call on the phone and they will be able to reassure you or tell you whether to come in. My midwife only works part time, so I've never bothered calling her.

On the subject of bladders, which you were all discussing last thread... semi-reluctant to admit this online, but mine has given up the ghost completely now and I have had to resort to pads Blush Sad

It's not all the time... I think it's just coming in bits... I have read that in second and subsequent pregnancies you can dilate/thin a bit early with no consequence, maybe it's just that. I wouldn't be dithering on MN if my pain was bad or I was bleeding. Having said that I have got back ache, lol! Better move off my bed and do something useful to see that it goes away!!!

Sorry to hear your news Lauren82000, hope that the family problems can be resolved.

Glad to hear he's out OneDayLikeThis2013, but don't take on too much. The foreseeable future with a baby in the way sounds like a lot of pressure.

I have a lot of discharge this time daholster, it changes in colour and consistancy but as I've never gone into labour naturally I have no idea what a show looks like for it to worry me! Give the midwife a call if you don't want to wait until your next appointment.

I'm babysitting tonight and its the children of a couple getting married. The meal was just ending as I arrived and the kids has the first dance with their parents and then I put them to bed. Going to be a late one but so cute seeing the little ones all dressed up. How lovely to have you your babies at your wedding. My ds's are annoyed that they weren't at ours, no way to make them understand that they weren't born!

BIL ended up giving in to his 5 year grudge and rang his dad so panic over! It ended up being his mum and younger brother that badgered him into it. (DH refused to get involved) Either way I think he's old enough to get over it. I can understand why he was angry at his dad but really life is too short and the least you can do is tell the person you have fallen out with that your not speaking to them! He's nearly 29 not 10!

I'm fed up went looking for some crisps before as I wanted something salty and there was just a solitary bag of 'rib n saucy' niknaks left. Sad that was not the taste I was looking for. Had to do without, least I'm shopping tomorrow so can get some in a flavour I actually fancy.

Re discharge/plug: I've had loads and yes it varies in colour and texture. I have at times had proper jelly like globs (only way to describe it) I'd still give them a ring if you keep getting big amounts of plug type material. Best to get a professional opinion.

Hey ladies, been a while as I've been so manic at work. 'Tis the Season Xmas Grin

My fruit intake has started looking up, but my food diary for today looks like this:
2 slices toast with real butter
Satsuma
1 slice thick wholemeal bread with hummus
Apple
Bag Cadbury buttons
1/2 bag crisps
8 pieces Asda chocolate crisp
1 Lindt ball
1/2 chicken breast with rice

This is nothing to what I used to eat but that was real food.I try to justify the chocolate by saying I'm making up my calories Xmas Blush

I've noticed my sleep is getting worse now-anyone else? Waking up after a couple of hours and can't get back over.

I've got a burning sensation in the top right of my bump that sometimes changes to stabbing pains. It's uncomfortable to sit, drive, lay, everything. Anyone had anything similar? Just had an e-mail from BabyCentre and it's all about pre-eclampsia, and that's apparently one of the symptoms Xmas Hmm Way to reassure hormonal pregnant women there!

26+4 (27 weeks on Christmas Day Xmas Grin)
