So after all that ranting yesterday the New Small decided to turn up early, which genuinely surprised us! (Only by 5 days though.) Not quite the birth I'd had in mind but everyone was glorious at the hospital and he is feeding like a trooper! Still need an absolute fix on a middle name so not told anyone beyond parents and pil yet - and you lot!
Will stick up proper birth story in a bit, anyone else overnight? (Nov 13th - oooh. )

Congratulations Utopian99!!!!
If you tell us the first name we could suggest middle names????

Congratulations Utopian Thanks. Maybe all that moaning was a sign labour was imminent.

Shocker of a nights sleep for me. Contractions between 1 and 2. Lasting a max of 50 seconds and coming in waves ranging from 1 min to 5 minutes. Had an intense urge to wee constantly but nothing was coming out. Spent most of the time perched on the loo as I was scared I would wet the bed. Everything seemed tailed off just as I was about to call the hospital.

DH sprang out of bed really worried and grabbed the Tens machine. So there was us all bleary eyed reading instructions on how to work the silly thing. God knows why I hadn't checked it out earlier. Ladies please get your practice in now, if you haven't already. Nothing like struggling mid contraction to read a manual whilst DH sticks the pads on upside down and mixes up the wiresSad.

Congratulations Utopian! Lovely news :)

I lost the plot a bit last night, after having a horrendous time trying to get DS to go to sleep- he's had a couple of unsettled nights this week so was seriously overtired, and it took ages to get him to drop off. Came downstairs to the second text IN A DAY from MIL asking if I'd had any signs yet! Cue lots of crying, throwing my phone across the sofa and huffing that "I'm not even bloody replying to that!" She then phoned DH about ten minutes later to ask if I was in labour. When he told her to stop texting me so often, she rather innocently asked why, was I getting fed up? Grin

Disclaimer- I love MIL to bits, but was in a seriously foul mood last night!

Congrats Utopian! Grin

No baby here, just a niggly uterus and a stroppy me, slept a lot so can't have been too much going on overnight.

Pinkgirly that does sound annoying! No-one would dare pester me yet, I'm terrifying when pregnant, but DH is getting questions from everyone. He says he can't remember the last time anyone asked him how he is doing!!

Hurrah Utopian!!! Congratulations!! Phoebo as a middle name?

41 weeks today and no news other than a record 7 wees during the night. Sigh.

Ha. Phoebo would do nicely! Staff here lovely and super attentive. Had an emcs after heartbeat issues and failed progression plus meconium, which I wasn't hoping for at all, but they seem to have done a good job of it and The Small is healthy, which is the main thing.
Now worried about the implications for getting a flat tummy back! (Yes my priorities are all wrong...)

Congratulations utopian!

Pink - it's my sister who I'm getting the texts off. Her reasoning is that little sisters are supposed to be annoying...

Still in bed as didn't get home until late last night. Now terrified that following tomorrow's sweep waters will go during DHs concert on Sunday. Which could be awkward.

So, Bean also arrived in the early hours of the morning! A baby girl, Jasmine Mary, 6lb 7.5oz born at 4:54 this morning. I am exhausted after a rather intense first labour experience! Arrived at hospital just after 4 to find myself 9cms dilated! Just about had time to suck down some gas and air before the urge to push struck. 40 minutes later she arrived left elbow first into the world! Narrowly avoided episiotomy (doctor was in the room with scalpel and scissors ready) by dint of the fantastic head MW, who shouted at me to 'push, God damn it!' and wouldn't let the doctor come near me other than to check the monitor! Knackered now so more later. Fingers crossed for everyone else and congratulations, utopian!!

Woooo great news Twiglet and well done to you and the midwife keeping those doctor's scissors away!

What a great way to start a new thread! Very many congratulations Utopian and Twiglet Thanks Thanks - sounds like you got to the hospital just in the nick of time Twiglet!

Not a lot going on here - quite uncomfortable night's sleep: achy hips, back and the odd period pain (could be BH, but I've no idea really). Felt a bit nauseous too, but that's all cleared up now... Am finding it more and more difficult to get myself up and out of bed as the week progresses...5 days until EDD and counting....

catg83 · 13/11/2014 10:20

Congratulations Twiglet. Good work.
I always thought I wouldn't be the person clock watching when EDD came. Well today is the day and I cannot believe I have only been up for 2 hours. Plan is to go to aquanatal this afternoon which will pass a couple of hours. I have always said he will be late but think I have been a bit naive in what that will actually feel like. x

Congrats on all the new babies Thanks

Toddler has decided 6am is now the correct time to get up despite what we tell him and as a result the Christmas Cake is now in the oven baking and cleaning done. Thinking that earns us the rest of the morning off!

Realised that it's been a while since I packed the hospital bags so will be repacking them this afternoon. No signs of anything happening Sad

Back from midwife. Sweep done, she said she managed to get a fingertip in but the cervix is still quite far back but is softening. Very strange having a young lady's hand up my foo but I suppose I'll get used to it!!!

Congratulations Twiglet.

Haven't, I'm the same. Keeping myself going with little bits of housework (a dark load today I think).

Am going to get the second baby cardigan finished today as well, in addition to going on my laptop to do a couple of Guiding related things.

Congratulations Twiglet and Utopian! Crikey they're coming thick and fast aren't they Grin

Had contractions all day yesterday randomly apart and all over the place, tummy was really sore for about 3 hours after I went to bed but nothing this morning. Gaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh.

Have been for a long walk with the dogs in the vain hope...

Lovely news guys, even if I am slowly turning a nice shade of green Wink

DP was suggesting I try the Tens machine last night. I suggested he try it first...just as well I did because when he turned it on it was turned up far too high and he shot off the sofa GrinGrin

Report
haventgotaclue1 · 13/11/2014 13:02

Thisis that's just made me lol Grin! I was advised at one of the NCT classes I went to to use the Tens machine from 37 weeks for an hour a day on the lowest setting ("A1 1" on the Mama Tens one I hired) so that's what I've been doing in the evenings....can't really feel anything at all, but even turning it up one notch makes a big difference. Does make me wonder how much pain there would need to be to require the highest setting (think it goes up to C 15) Shock

ToniWol how's the knitting coming along? I'me a complete knitting beginner but have just finished knitting my 2nd blanket (made up of loads of separate squares that I've then sewn together)...just looked at it and the top row is 5cm wider than the bottom one...Blush...oh well, as long as it does the job!

Hope things start to progress for you Amy

Right, off to do a spot of ironing before my afternoon nap Smile
