Mine was more of a gently laid down on than jumped on :)

Just wondering, has anyone else been asked to take part in the 35:39 study? Or am I the only practically geriatric over 35 here... they're basically asking for people to take part in a study about inducing women over 35 at 39 weeks because research suggests it may mean less intervention/c sections.

Hi everyone, jumping on too. I am off sick today, have had a cold for a week now and just can't seem to shake it. Woke up with a temperature so decided to stay off work, try to rest to get rid of the bugs. So frustrating not being able to take anything!

Hello again. I'm bored today. Bored with being pregnant (I would like to be joining colleagues for a Pimms fest please and thank you) and bored with work because all I can think about is pregnancy and babies.

ladydolly I am 39, so don't worry! My age is being treated with complete indifference though, which I love.

Today is my only day off and I spent just an hour in town, bought yoga pants in Mothercare and was driven home.....& still had to go back to bed with the dog! Blush

What has been your best pregnancy purchase so far? Mine has been Fitflops. Amazing in the hot weather! Oh, and tonic and limes - my faux G&T's have been a lifesaver.

Place marking

Spent the weekend looking at nursery furniture. Think we know what we want but waiting for new stock in a local shop.

ladydolly · 14/07/2014 14:01

annarose so you've not had the invite for the study? This was the first time my age has come up really so not been insulted yet!

Lifesaving purchases: my seabands for the morning sickness, gym membership for swimming instead of running and the wireless freya bras. Oh, and although I didn't pay for it the pregnancy massage I got on my last work trip, definitely investing in more of those!!

Glad to hear it normal to have worries and little break downs now and again. I guess being a control freak and a worrier normally means that at times I just get overwhelmed.

Hopeful, I had a cold a few weeks back that lasted a week and a half. Usually it takes three days for it to go. Normally I take all kinds of stuff but this time just sweets for the sore throat! It's frustrating! Hope you feel better soon. Rest really helps.

My best pregnancy buy so far have been my maternity trousers. Just started wearing under bump ones today as they are so much more comfy that having my regular ones hang open with a bump band over them! Also love my theraline pillow.

Now I desperately need summer shoes. My feet are too hot but I hate open shoes. I'm so fussy.

I'm another one with a lingering cold so sympathies!! Started last Friday so about 10 days and counting. Spent the weekend doing very little so think it is finally on it's way out now. Should've taken a day off last week and probably would've nipped it in the bud earlier.
Got a meeting at 2.30 which I'm dreading, about work performance :-( basically I was rated good with a really good report, but the head of my department who I've spoken to grand total of three times since I started last July downgraded me without any explanation, warning or discussion with my manager. Have to go have an informal meeting with mr nasty before going to appeal :-( really hope I don't cry as that is my default response to these kind of situations. Oh well it'll all be over in an hour or so...

Have carefully stepped aboard due to SPD and crippling constipation. My inability to poo is really getting me down Sad

Report
weeonion · 14/07/2014 15:01

oh moggle - hope it goes ok. is anyone going in with you for support / back up?? Is mr nasty not aware that he could incur the wrath of a hoarde / wadddle of pregnant women if you call upon this thread to take actionSmile

popcorn - poor you. on the october thread - they were sharing constipation remedies - i think prune juice came out as firm fav?

blamber - keenly awaiting anyone sharing shoe ideas.... i need comfy trendy ones that arent flip flops (cant be doing with toe bars) and will aloow me to walk a few miles each day...

ladydolly - i am 42. maybe they think i am so so so far beyond it at this age!! Grin

did any of you get your bumps t breastfeeding dvd yet???

moggle · 14/07/2014 15:21

Thanks weeonion. It wasn't as bad as I was expecting. He seems to think that all new starters have to be given the worst rating. I don't think that is official policy so think I will still appeal. He agreed that I couldn't have done much of a better job in the time since I've been here, so I didn't cry!!! I didn't even have to invoke the big fat belly or my horrible phlegmy cough to make him feel bad...

Report
weeonion · 14/07/2014 15:28

jeez - he sounds all charm. you couldnt have done any better of a job but he still thinks its fair to just place everyone on the lowest rating?? does he believe that will motivate people more.
glad it wasnt as bad as you thought / expected though.

Just worked out that i am on 6.30am trains for the remainder of the week. Means i will need up at 5.15 am to make it to station on time. pants.

Just got a call from midwife. Apparently i have suspected UTI after last antenatal appt 2 weeks ago - results just back in. How bad would it be to just not take antibiotics and see how it goes. I feel fine with no symptoms and hate, hate , hate taking pills / meds???

Report
Annarose2014 · 14/07/2014 16:24

My GP told me that you have to treat UTI's with antibiotics during pregnancy. If left untreated they can cause premature labour.

Anyway, as someone who once ignored a UTI and ended up in A&E at midnight......I'd say take the antibiotics.

Popcorn prune juice is amazing. Take a shot every night, with a straw is easier if you hate the taste. I walk about 10 Km a day in my job so am pooing almost every day (sorry, TMI!) but my patients all swear by it.

Hello all! A shiny new thread for us all as time marches on. Sorry, I've not posted for a while but have been managing to keep up with the thread sporadically. I had my 20 week scan a while back, which all went well, and have my next midwife appt tomorrow which I'm looking forward to.

Annarose - I totally feel your pain with the shifts. My shift pattern always invovles 4 x 12.5hour shifts in a row, which is a bit of a killer. But as you point out, there is definitely the positive of the fact it keeps me really active. I keep meaning to get a pedometer app on my phone to see how far I actually walk each day.

Weeonion - I have the bump to breastfeeding DVD - I remember you saying a while back that you star in it...I think I might know who you are. What a great thing to be involved with, it's so helpful for other mums to be. I didn't sign up for Lazy Dazy in the end because I wanted a birth prep class dp could come to as well. I'm going to pregnancy yoga run by my normal yoga teacher plus a 4 hr active birth workshop dp can come along to as well. It was actually his suggestion which I was delighted about!

Sorry to those of you who are feeling fed up with pregnancy niggles and problems. It's amazing how different the whole experience is for each person. I think I've been incredibly lucky so far and have been really enjoying being pregnant. I hope it continues this way but I wonder if that'll all change once I get bigger. I've had a lot of comments about not being very big, but I think it's because I'm faitry tall and seem to be hiding the baby away.

Ladydolly - I am 37 and not heard of the study. Having been induced once before I would avoid it again unless there were good medical reasons specific to me personally.

Weeonion. Try these sandals: fitflops but without the toe post. I am walking 3 miles a day in them very happily.

Ladydolly I'm 38 & haven't heard about the study either. ...only time reference has been made to my age was when I was given a not needed or required consultant appointment. She confirmed that I was low risk. When I read her notes later on, she'd written "one other risk factor = age" Hmm

Jesus, Stripey, four in a row??? I waved my pregnancy card to get out of doing more than 2 in a row. Its hard enough!

Have you had midwives say "...And are you keeping active?" The first time I just burst out laughing!

Ladydolly I will be 35 when I give birth, but I haven't been asked to complete a survey (yet).

Has anyone bought a pram/pushchair travel system yet? I've found one I like at a reasonable price but I'm not sure if it's too early? I don't think I'll feel like shopping in October, so would need to buy one in September at the latest in any event, but if I buy it now I'll lose a couple of months on the warranty if anything went wrong with it. Hmmmmm Confused

Signing in, thanks for the new thread Smile.

Best pregnancy purchase so far- my dream genii pillow. I still have yet to find any decent jeans so that hunt is ongoing.

Bunny, we bought our car seats/travel system two weeks ago as it was on offer. If you buy it from mothercare, the warranty starts from day baby is born so you don't lose time if you but it earlier.

ladydolly I'm 35 will be 36 when I give birth and I haven't been told about a survey, I wonder if it's a regional thing?

I took part in a pain relief study when I had DS, was ok but the lady kept coming in and asking me to rate my pain on a slidey thing when I was in the throes of childbirth, she was lucky she didn't get a punch on the nose!
