You do realise you're tempting fate with this title, right?!

DaleyBump Wed 23-Oct-13 22:48:19

Thanks for the new thread, I'll actually try to properly keep up with this one!

I was admitted to hospital last night with my 8th episode of reduced fm. I was feeling such an idiot, I hate going up but when the wee man stops moving what else can I do?

I was sent for a scan (11th scan, had enough!) this morning and everything looks fine, but when I got back to the ward there were 8 doctors waiting to speak to me to tell me that "we don't think you're crazy, it happens sometimes" and that they want to induce me at 37/38 weeks. I'm 34+4 just now. So in about 2-3 weeks.

Oh my god. They don't actually let you leave the hospital with them, do they?

PinkWitch803 Wed 23-Oct-13 22:48:47

Tempting fate indeed smile

DaleyBump Wed 23-Oct-13 22:50:33

Also, welcome dizzy smile

itsliz Wed 23-Oct-13 22:56:05

Thanks for the new thread, Lady smile
Can't believe how chatty we are! How many threads is this now? 5...?

I had no idea about cord clamping until now so thank you so much mum.
I'm really worried that I'll forget all of this useful info in the heat of the moment, so do you think it might be the sort of thing to include in my birth plan? I haven't really got a plan as such, just wondering if it'll make any difference being written down...

Big hugs for Lady and meandbumpy - it's so inspiring to read about how strong you both are. All of those things are hard enough to cope with as it is, without everything else on top! Although it's horrible at the time, I really do think that the tough times make us and our relationships stronger...
When I first met DP, he'd just come out of a long term relationship and had lost his job and I was being messed around emotionally by one of his friends, taking on too much overtime at work and struggling through my final year of uni.
I won't bore you with the details but we managed to make things work and just a couple of months later, we moved in together. I was terrified that things were moving so fast but in hindsight, I think we're much stronger for going through so much together so early on in a relationship smile

Ooh and welcome, dizzy! We don't mind at all - the more the merrier grin
Glad to hear you've had a nice straightforward pregnancy so far, fingers crossed things continue to go well!

Chelsealady Wed 23-Oct-13 22:57:38

I need help ladies!!!!!! For the past 2 weeks been having braxton hicks and the midwife said if i have more than 4 in a hour to call the hosp...well i am so confussed as i had one at 9 then another at 9.30 and then one at 10 and now im nearly crying in pain as iv had another which had lasted the longest and its the most painful yet. No bleeding or anything scared as im actually on my own at the moment and i am only 30 +3 sad should i call them or wait and see???

clare8allthepies Wed 23-Oct-13 23:04:46

Hooray, new thread!

The last one lasted nearly a month, if this ones the same then we'll have some babies on this one, yay!

DaleyBump Wed 23-Oct-13 23:05:12

Call them. They shouldn't be painful. Best to put your mind at rest.

DaleyBump Wed 23-Oct-13 23:05:48

Sorry, that was to Chelsea.

LadyMedea Wed 23-Oct-13 23:07:28

If they are painful - not just bloody uncomfortable from everything being squished - then call the hospital. I have a lot of braxton hicks but they never properly hurt... If they did I'd be calling maternity! They Can strap you up and see if they are contractions.

On my way nowsad i new as soon as my boyfriend left to go away for the weekend something would happen. This is the worst pain iv felt in my life let alone pregnancy!!! Ahhhh

DaleyBump Wed 23-Oct-13 23:11:31

Keep calm. Have you taken any painkillers? Did you call the mws?

BohemianRaspberry Wed 23-Oct-13 23:12:45

Agreed chelsea call them, you'll only get more upset if you don't. Who can you ring to help you? Let us know!

In random news, junior has the most dramatic case of the hiccups and I've just pressed the side of my bump to soothe muscles and had a little hand push back... feel all warm about that smile

PinkWitch803 Wed 23-Oct-13 23:19:01

Chelsea, keep calm and know we are here.

Bohemian, i am quite jealous. I assume it is because of my anterior placenta but I don't get to see many body part impressions, just lots of bouncing and ripples. Which are lovely but not easily identifiable smile

Chelsealady Wed 23-Oct-13 23:19:52

My boyfriends mother is on her way to meet me at the hosp. Called them they said come in asap...have had no movement from her with the last contraction and im feeling wet sitting im the taxi as i type...thanks for the support ladies. Im 19 and have no knowledge of what pain is what but i am really hoping baby is not on her way as i still have till 30th december left!

Stom91 Wed 23-Oct-13 23:22:00

Welcome dizzy!!

Chelsea hope you are ok! I ended up in hospital a couple weeks ago when dp was in Hungary!! He'd also smashed his phone so couldn't get hold of him!!
Let us know how you get on. I'm sure it's nothing to worry about xx

Can't believe it's a new thread already.
And can't believe how soon we will all have babies!!

LadyMedea Wed 23-Oct-13 23:22:43

Hang in there Chelsea. If baby is on her way she's got a very good chance of being fine.... Even if you end up in shock at her arrival!

BohemianRaspberry Wed 23-Oct-13 23:24:45

You're doing all you can chelsea hang in there. You are in the best possible hands xx

DaleyBump Wed 23-Oct-13 23:32:06

We'll be here for support Chelsea, just remember to try and keep calm. Everything will be fine.

13loki Thu 24-Oct-13 01:16:52

Hope everything is OK Chelsea

Relented and took a codeine so I could get to sleep around 8:30 last night - apparently standing in a science lab for 3 hours trying to stop children from squirting each other with chemicals when you have SPD and are measuring bigger than full term even though you are only 34 weeks is silly and causes pain. If Friday wasn't my last day I would have left work on Wednesday, since I was in pain before I got into work, even though I only worked a half day Tuesday. Unfortunately the drugs have worn off, and while I am not crying like I was before I slept, I can't get back to sleep now with the ache and not being able to lay in a position that doesn't hurt.

Half day at work today (woo hoo) but then I have to take DD to the health visitor to try to work out immunisation schedules. That gives me a wonderful workout for my (very bad) Swedish, since the health visitor only speaks conversational english. Luckily, most of the medical type terms are close enough for me to work out.

I had (massively) delayed cord clamping with DD. Possibly because the paramedic and ambos wanted to wait for the midwife who was "on her way" and she didn't come until nearly an hour after Lola was born. It was really nice because no-one else got cuddles (except hub who I think may have laid down with us) and we just snuggled and fed until MW got there.

PinkWitch803 Thu 24-Oct-13 01:58:41

13loki - may the force be with you. Just one more "sleep" to go before you finish. Try to rest even if you can't sleep. You can tale more drugs shortly.

NomDeClavier Thu 24-Oct-13 03:34:26

Thinking of you chelsea.

I'n quite excited for you daley. I know being induced isn't ideal and you must be really worried about these episodes of reduced movement but just think how soon you'll have your baby!!!!

itsliz that sort of thing is definitely worth putting into a birth plan. IMO a birth plan isn't so much for 'this is my birth all laid out so you just need to follow the instructional' but a) an idea of your wishes where you do have a choice (ranking the pain relief you want you want to try, delayed cord clamping, who cuts the cord, who tells you the sex if you don't know, managed third stage or not, skin to skin immediately after or not) so the MWs don't have to ask you lots of questions assuming all goes well and b) a chance for you to think about the less than desirable circumstances and how you'd prefer those situations to be handled. If you end up with an EMCS and baby goes to SCBU do you want your partner with you or the baby, for example. You can even create birth plan A, plan B etc!

Poor you loki sad Not too long to go now until you can rest up on ML!

WhisperMen Thu 24-Oct-13 06:49:57

Cheers for the new thread lady.

Hope everything is okay Chelsea.

Just a quick place Mark

Stom91 Thu 24-Oct-13 07:51:49
