Hey

boo great start to the thread.

I'm not feeling too bad. I'm pretty exhausted and have a blocked nose, other than that I'm super.

kitty I actually think the whole first 12 weeks takes forever to pass. Usually the rest seems to go a bit quicker. I already feel like I've been pregnant forever and I'm only 11+5.

Oh it's been so cold out recently. Look like autumn and winter is well underway. Sad think I might take ds to the local soft play for an hour. He loved to play with the balls. Although haven't decided if I can be bothered.

How's every one else?

Morning all Smile

Most definitely autumn here too, though it's warming up again tomorrow. I want proper autumn to be here now!!

I too have a permanently blocked nose. Good old progesterone.

I'm having real trouble sleeping. I only seem comfy on my back. When am I not allowed to sleep on my back?

Report
ThedementedPenguin · 19/09/2013 10:10

maybe my Mw told me last time to sleep whatever way I'm comfy. Even if its on my back.

I tried to sleep on my left but I always woke up on my back or right side so I gave up. It was way too sore to be constantly moving back to the left.

Shock I missed the breakfast buffet! how did I not smell the bacon.
I'm most comfy on my back too but I just brought one of the massive long pillows to cuddle makes it much more comfy to be on my side to go to sleep

my shoulders get sore when I sleep on my side. I find it most comfy on my back too. I seem to get breathless if I stay on my right side for too long. so go figure what that is all about.

Thanks for the advice wise brookers! I massive pillow is on my 'to buy' list Smile

Hi everyone. trix I’m sorry you’re feeling so rubbish. Do they not know what’s causing it?
solars I had 3d scans in Thailand at both 12 and 20 weeks. It was lovely to see the baby and it looks obviously much more baby-like than when it’s 2d, but I’m not sure I’d spend lots of money on it. How much are they?

maybe it's not until the third trimester that you shouldn't lie on your back for too long, as the baby's not big enough until then. But even then my MW said not to worry about it too, to sleep how you're comfy. I sometimes am on my back, or prop a pillow behind my back and so am not quite flat. I have quite a lot of pillows around me to get comfortable, and moving around it becoming more of a chore, as my back is not great at hte moment. It gets better after I start moving around though - lying down and sitting are the worst. Go figure.

kitty you're more than 5 weeks now - yay! I agree the wait until taht first scan is tortuous. So glad the spotting was just a one off.

Internet is a bit dodgy here so I'll have to be back tomorrow when i'm working from home but i did just have a great cold lamb sandwich made with love by my wonderful H.

People keep asking when I'm due as if the answer will be 'any day now'. I'm not that big?! But my theory is that you don't tend to see women after about 35 weeks as they start mat leave etc, so people have the wrong idea of when is the end of pregnancy.

sweetie must be one of the twins squashing an artery.

Ooh my mum bought us a sheepkin for Kip to lie on, and a gorgeous silk blanket. It's white, and silk, so not the most practical maybe, but it's so scrumptious!!

I think I've got the nesting bug already, after yesterday's filing all I've been doing is sorting out all sorts of things around the house this morning, now tucking into a big bowl of mushroom risotto.

Keep the 3d scan is only £95 which I thought was ok. I love the sound of those gifts from your mum, very lush. My parents have offered to pay for our cot which is really lovely of them. Perhaps the theory as to people asking when due date is, is that your bump is a bit more prominent as you have such a slight figure?

Maybe my midwife said after 28 weeks which is the start of the 3rd trimester, right(?) for sleeping on your side. I sleep on my side anyway so hopefully should be ok (fingers crossed)

Glad to hear you're feeling better Pen I do like autumn by the way, but not keen on the rain and it's just started raining here and I have to go out this afternoon :(

Kitty good to hear the spotting has stopped and brooking for time to pass quickly so you get to your scan date.

Trix glad to hear the first lot of tests were clear, let's hope it's sorted out soon for you.

yummy maybe thanks. the pillow I got is just a cheapy Argos one its half price atm around 12quid its just a straight one though. I've seen dome that are shaped round a bit.
keep I seem to be much better with my skin now I use only non bio to wash my clothes and only wash myself with plain water, simple soap or sanex for kids. even the 'thrush' is better especially if I only use water (on the docs suggestion) so I guess its just a sensitive skin issue. the dodgy tummy also appears to be fixed since I've switched to lactofree or soya milk. although I am still running to the loo if I eat a rich meal.Blush . I'm due back at the docs on the 30th mw said I need a heart and lung check? so not sure whether to push the other things or just put it down to extra sensitivity.
solars is it my ultra baby near u? there's one just up the road from me. keep don't know how the prices compare to other clinics, but they do different packages according to how many pics you get, b&w or colour, DVD etc etc you can have fridge magnets and all kinds Hmm . its £95 for the most basic goes up to around £200 I think.
sweetie are you ok? did you ever get your hand sorted?
have you got much in the way of symptoms yet kitty?
my maxi cosi carseat arrived today!

Nice lunch Solars! I've also got to brave the rain with the pup. The poor thing has had hardly any walks of late.

Thanks for the advice Keep. That sheepskin rug sounds yummy! I think people asking when you're due is a standard response to a bump. Makes a change to talking about the weather Wink

Trix that sounds like the scan place near here! All sorts of memorabilia! I'm glad your itching has eased off a bit. At least the weather is cooling off now which may help x

they do have a few clinics around can't remember where you are maybe? you can have a heartbeat bear which I was a little Hmm about.

I'm in Essex Trix' it's the Baby Scan Studio. It's where we are going for the gender scan. You can get bears here too! I wonder how many people actually buy them?

Report
cartoontrickster · 19/09/2013 14:55

oh I've heard of them! last time I was there a girl got the bear, I think its weird but each to thier own.

Report
ThedementedPenguin · 19/09/2013 15:29

Wait what do you mean, 'you can get bears?' maybe I have an image in my head and I want to be wrong.

I looked up the 3d scans here the cheapest I found was £119. However you can add key rings, DVDs, etc on to it.

I think ill maybe have a look at one of those pillows as I found last time I moved a lot in my sleep which meant I woke up on my right side and it was so sore to move back around.

trix I'm glad things are working out for you, and that you are not feeling as bad.

I just got tickets very cheaply to go see an ice hockey game on Sat Night. I can't wait.

Okay so I might be wrong here (I blame my memory) but was it sweetie that was showing us the wall stickers?

I remember saying if take a picture of my ds' room and I have finally gotten around to it.

Okay to get to the point do you want me to upload them to here? Or if I put them on fb would everyone see? (Well everyone that wants to) Grin

Having seen a 3d scan I'd rather wait till the baby arrives, you'd get a much less freaky picture...

I'm probably giving away where I live now but the clinic near me is called verulam clinic and I've just looked again on their website but they don't do all those gimmicks just photos and a DVD. Are the images really that creepy from the 3d scan? My sister in law had one done, about 5 years ago now and it looked ok.
