Ok, I can't see a May thread in here so I guess I will start one! According to the NHS due date calculator my EDD is actually 30th April but I think that makes me more likely to be having a May baby anyway!

Am feeling very tentative about starting this thread as I had a mc in June and it's very early days for this one but...anyone want to come and chat through these nerve-wracking first few days?

Hi jelly I was on the august ttc bus with you and got my bfp yesterday. I also have a due date from NHS site of end April so thought I'd come and join you here! I'm quite overwhelmed at the moment and so nervous that something will go wrong. Symptom wise I've been having headaches, tiredness but disturbed sleep and stitch like feelings, how are you feeling?

Hi EmJay - your username makes me imagine you to be Kirsten Dunst in Spiderman btw! It is such a nervewracking time and I was starting to wonder if I was going to let myself be happy and excited - every time dh and I talk about it we qualify everything with 'if it really happens'.

Symptom-wise, I don't have many - slightly sore boobs (which I realised today are not fitting in my bras anymore or anything that buttons up at the front!), flashes of intense irritation and a lot of sleepiness in the afternoon. Unfortunately this usually kicks in just as my toddler wakes up from his nap; I need to get us in sync!

Hello jelly and EmJay Smile

My due date is also 30th April on both the NHS and mumsnet due date calcuator! I said hello on the April thread, but then wondered if I should really be on a May one instead?! Confused

That's what I thought, especially as last time my EDD got adjusted to a day later after I had my dating scan so if that happens this time I'll officially be due in May - and my son was born at 40+3 anyway.

Ha ha jelly I'll take that as a compliment but I'm no Kirsten dunst from Spiderman lol it is in deed v nerve wrecking! I keep thinking what if and trying to not let myself get to carried away with the whole baby stuff yet anyway! I am so tired but for some reason I've been having v disturbed nights sleep. My boobs are quite tender and my partner is convinced they're bigger! Also been getting headaches. I went to doctors today and I'm now waiting for midwife to ring me next week to arrange appointment. Out of interest who have you all told at mo?

Disturbed sleep and headaches here too! I wake up to pee two or three times and sometimes struggle to get back to sleep. I didn't get the constant peeing thing in my first pregnancy and it is not fun!

I'm keeping it quiet as I told family at this stage last time and then miscarried a few days later so I don't want to get their hopes up again! However I have told my sister and a close friend and then another friend guessed when I turned down a glass of wine..!

Also not making a midwife appt til I'm further along as had to cancel last time. I'm waiting to see if I get to six weeks (a day further on than last time) and then I will start telling more family I think.

Yep I'm like that with the sleep, catching up with me now. At mo I'm keeping quiet as I don't want to get their hopes up too early plus earlier in the year my sister had a mc. Hard though as part of me wants to tell everyone and part of me is too scared to yet. Thought I'd get found out today as was having a girly day at the races but went under the pretence that I was driving as I didn't feel well so that I wasn't questioned for not drinking! Sorry to hear about your mc here's hoping that we both get past the 6 week point then. Think I'm gonna worry about it till I have a scan.

I'm exactly the same with the sleep thing, that's good to know its not just me. Otherwise not many symptoms at all, except slightly tender boobs...I'm not telling anyone yet but we may tell In-laws next week as FIL is terminally ill :-(

Hi All,
I hope you don't mind me joining this club. I just had my bfp 4 days ago and NHS website dated me for 29 April but i think it's more like 1 may onwards(?). It's my first pregnancy and fingers crossed it will be good. Still have pink discharge and cramps which is not very nice but lets hope the bean is making a cosy lil home. I've submitted a self referral to whittington hosp near me but not sure when MW will come back but hopefully not too late. Hope all is well with everyone and have a happy n healthy 9 months ;) x

Oh just on sleep..since bfp I have been up at 3.30am for the last 4 days to pee but not been able to go back to bed. I'm hoping this wont last as I can barely open my eyes at work!! Also I had a slip in my tub last night n landed on my bum, fingers crossed its not going to harm the bean :( do you think i should get a scan done perhaps? TIA

Welcome Ally! Falling over can't hurt it at this stage, it's too well protected! Hope you didn't hurt yourself though Smile

I had pregnancy insomnia most of the way though with my son - it was the worst in the third trimester. Handy preparation for a newborn I guess...

Thanks jelly. Fingers crossed it was ok. Yes insomnia is not great as it's been too busy at work to nap lol! I hope all is well with you too x

I'm finding it hard to decide whether to tell anyone I'm pregnant yet, a big part of me wants to tell my parents and my best friend and my DP wants to tell his parents and sister, but I am also worried that it is too soon and maybe we should enjoy our own wee secret a little bit longer!

Have any of you told anyone you are pregnant yet?

Report
EmJay9 · 23/08/2013 16:51

Hi isean I know just what you mean! Part of me is desperate to tell my parents and best friend but also worried its too early yet! Also I worry because I don't feel pregnant yet!! Without sounding silly lol but other than the disturbed sleep and sore boobs don't feel any different.

Report
Allypallyjelly · 23/08/2013 17:42

I agree emjay and isean, we haven't told many people mainly just my mom but I think this weekend we might cave in and tell his parents as they are quite old so may be a nice news for them. As for work I am keeping quiet until at least the 10-12wk scan. I'm so surprised I got a call from the midwife as I've only just submitted the self referral on Wednesday! And she's scheduled me in for Tuesday for a two hr appmt which she said includes blood test etc. u guys made appmt yet? I'm still having brown discharge and cramps at 17dpo which is a little worrying so I may ask the Mw on Tuesday.

Think I'll prob end up given in and telling my mum and closet friend but won't be telling work until after the scan. I've been to see my gp and the midwife is ringing me when she is in the surgery next week to arrange an appointment with me so hopefully I'll get to see her soon. That will prob make it seem more real! Prob a good idea to check it out with your midwife allypallyjelly they're there to advise, I'll prob have loads of questions for mine!

Hi all,

Can I join? Tentatively popping my head in to say hi. Only got my BFP on Thursday and I'm only 4 weeks today. Apps tell me that my due date is 3rd May.

I say tentatively as I had an early miscarriage last month. I was only 5 weeks at the time, so I think I will start to feel a bit more confident once I have got passed that point with this pregnancy.

LaceyLee · 24/08/2013 09:48

Thanks emjay. I'm finding it really hard not to tell my parents, so hopefully we will tell both sets of parents next weekend. I slept much better last night yay! Anyone else? Boobs are definitely getting bigger also!

Really sorry to hear about your mc impatiently, I'm trying not to worry about that happening but it's a big worry, fingers crossed all will be well for everyone this time around.

Hi impatiently! We're in the same boat - the pg after mc thread is also a good place to go for some positive thinking :)

Morning all! I had my BFP today, but not sure which bus thread I should be on... My last cycle was 31 days, which the MN calculator gives me 4th May EDD, the previous three (after stopping Nexplanon) were 26 days, but before DS I was generally 31 days. Confused

Anyway, here I am! DS was 4 weeks early, so DC2 could be March/April anyway!

Welcome newcomers! Think I'm gonna tell my parents as if anything did happen I'd want my mum to know. And laceylee my boobs are definitely getting bigger already and are quite sore. Sorry to hear about those have you who have suffered previous mcs. It is a worry which I have a lot so must be worse for those of you who have been through one before but hopefully we will all have a healthy 9 months. I'm trying my best to try and not think too much bout things that could go wrong.
