I am in the same boat currently pregnant with baby no 2 and as I didn't do NCT classes and wished I had due to the social side need to do something this time. Cost and ethos of the class have stopped me signing up so far.

Has anyone heard of Lazy Daisy classes?? This is an alternative to NCT with a combination of techniques and is active birthing based but also suitable for elective c-sections as not exclusively pro natural birth. terms run for 6 week at a time and is much cheaper at £54.00 for a term. Available throughout the UK but you can search their website for exact class locations. Might be worth a thought?

I did lazy daisy and really enjoyed it. Teacher was very knowledgable and I also met some other nice pregnant women there. Really nice relaxation section at the end of each session too!

Not heard of lazy daisy but when I did NCT their didn't seem to be much judgement about types of birth. The teacher was an ex-midwife and covered both vaginal and caesarean birth and all types of pain relief. Good thing too as 50% of the women in my class ended up with a caesarean birth and NONE of us had an intervention free birth. Don't assume it's all deep breathing and meditation.

My friend who is expecting a C section for her twins did Lazy Daisy and loved it. I'm doing Birth Light which I really like. Neither of us did NCT so no comparison available but we've both had positive experiences with our respective choices. 3 weeks to go now so I'm starting to put what I've learnt into practise.
