Twins due in the Autumn

Hi, I'm 13 weeks with identical twins due in the autumn. Just getting over the "twinshock" now (have known since 6 weeks).
Would be lovely to find some other twin mums-to-be at roughly the same stage (plus any top tips from "veterans" who are further on ... Have seen there are a few existing twin threads - all very well established and everyone is further on - congrats to you all by the way!!)
Mine are MCDA twins, and will be little siblings for our DD Antonia, who is 2. Would be great to share some of the joys (and trials) as we go along.
Smile

Hi cheery, thank god for you! Just found out I'm having twins oct/ nov and also have a toddler ( he'll be about 2.11) when they arrive.

I'm not over the shock just yet and don't know if they are identical or not but it certainly explains why I've been feeling so rough!

I'm on the Nov antenatal thread and there's another lady on there having twins so perhaps join us? Hope your pregnancy goes well also have you seen the multiples thread under parenting I think?

Hello. I'm about 8 weeks and found out yesterday there are two in there! Non identical. I am still in shock and walking round in a daze. We have boys who are 6 and 3 and after much deliberation decided to go for one more. EDD was 24 November so I guess they will arrive around the end of October. Haven't got a clue about how it works.

I'm a little bit further ahead - 18w. I also found out very early so had a little bit of time to come to terms with it before we started telling people. Not sure I'm there yet though! I'm having dcda twins.

Congratulations!

Congratulations all! I had no replies for ages and was beginning to feel like a total Norma, so thanks for joining!
Excellent to hear that there are lots of autumn twins on the way, and thanks Spanish for the signposts to other threads too - btw I certainly felt a heck of a lot rougher this time too, but it is lifting as I enter the second trimester - still tired, but not bone-crushingly tired and nauseous.
I had my formal dating scan and they put me a bit further on - about 14 and a half weeks now. Very excited and nervous. Boob and little - I'm not sure if the shock actually wears off (well I'm still waiting!)
Andadc - you sound as though maybe you're getting your head round it ?
I am about to enter a world of 2 weekly scans because of the extra risks with MCDA, but feeling positive. Will be nice to be able to see the little rascals regularly.
So tell me, was your DH/DP with you when you found out? Mine wasn't - I had been going to tell him it was twins as a joke, it wasn't so easy to persuade him I meant it ...

I'm really quite jealous of your two week scans. Two weeks seems to be the point at which I start to go a bit neurotic (first pregnancy after mc in November) and then I have 2 weeks to wait! Starting to feel movement, but no idea which twin it is (their feet are in the same place) as one is transverse and one cephalic.

Nope, I was on my own and had to break the news to DH myself. I got him out of school and told him in the car. I'd gone to the EPU after spotting and expected it all to be going wrong again. He was in shock bless him, and had to go straight into lessons not being able to tell his colleagues anything! How did you break the news?

I sent him a text saying "This is not a joke. It's twins. Look at the picture if you don't believe me!" and enclosed a picture of my 6 week scan with 2 little blobs! ? though I actually got to speak to him before he read the text and saw the pic ?
I also was half expecting bad news, as I also had a mc last year (hence the early scan when I had some aches down there). It certainly does make it harder to be calm. But I am just relieved they found a membrane at 10 weeks (initially they thought both were in one sac, which is a highly risky type of twinning when the cords can get tangled). In a way the scans are a bonus, but I'd trade them for more safety in a heartbeat ? but I appreciate how the gap between scans is hard - I've had nearly four weeks between each so far.

I was ref'd to EPU with a bit of bleeding and was expecting bad news - I didn't know how to react, actually asked the (highly experienced senior) sonographer if she was sure. I was on my own - DH in the car with other two children. I had to whisper the news (and tell him no, it wasn't a joke) so the older two didn't hear - 6YO spent the journey home asking us what I'd said. Got booking appointment tomorrow then I guess that's it until 12 weeks. I haven't been feeling that bad, but have to go back to work tomorrow and hold myself together...

How are you all doing? All well I hope. I am now 18+3 or so. All ticking along OK but have sprouted an enormous bump in the last 3 weeks! Feel like I look ridiculous and I hoping I don't keep growing at this rate!! Also no nausea any more but SOOO TIRED! Ah well ?
Anyone know if they's having boys or girls? Anyone waiting for a surprise? Looks like 2 more girls for us, probably.
