(1000 Posts)New thread!
Well done pidj beat me to it!
seconds (I think) I will be going nowhere near my cervix! I'm not going to take anything but I suppose it's different as I know they'll definitely induce me. I hope never to see such a thread, why would anyone do that?
marking my place (hsmile)
I only just squeaked it in!
Dp has volunteered himself for gardening duties, but the look on his face when i suggested the evening primrose mirrored my own told me everything i need to know. Tbh, shagging releases prostaglandin so I'd rather stick to that if i ever manage to get in the mood, damned insomnia
werewolves the lady in question wasn't getting on with it and rather than wait for an appointment, removed it herself. Rather her than me.
I'm being induced too - it does take away the element of surprise and the thought of having to dramatically announce to my husband that I'm in labour, but on the other hand it is nice to know I won't be hanging on over Christmas.
I'm getting lots of rib pressure now. I can see a difference - my bump comes straight out from under my boobs in quite a dramatic fashion.
giggles hurting ribs is one thing but having to make a dash for the loo whilst i cried with mirth wasn't so funny
well done sneaking the new thread in pidjin
Maybe not funny for you
New thread already? Marking my place, now off to bed
My friend actually had her dh give her a sweep in all three of her pregnancies and went into labour with all of them! Funny what we're reduced too when we become so uncomfortable!
Marking place and going to bet 2 more babies in this thread, still a bit too early and as we all like to talk, and have more time to talk now more are on mat leave, I don't think this will last that long.
Oh CODwidow - eek, the thought of a sweep from a trained medical professional is bad enough but my husband can't even hang a picture without hitting his head on the wall.
He also thought the baby would have a massive head-rush from being head down all the time, till I pointed out the baby was suspended in amniotic fluid.
Wow, another thread already. We talk too much!
I've never been tempted to get dh to do that but am thinking of the epo nr the cervix trick this time round.
Just marking my place...
Still laughing from catching up and all the pills up there!
This is ds2 but was induced with ds1 at 2 weeks overdue. Is any/everyone else having strong flutters right down the bottom. It feels like its so low its below the bikini line level. I'm am reliably informed that I'm not breech anymore plus im getting kicks up by my ribs so what is it? It's not just when I'm sitting or lying but a lot of the day, more so when I walk? Any suggestions.
5 weeks to go. Trying not to think about labour or the build up too much.
I have that pmgkt thought it might be hands? Prob not though so not sure
Marking my place.
I get loads of random fluttering pmgkt - have pretty well given up trying to work out what LO is up to at any given moment. Sometimes I convince myself they are breech again, but other times I'm sure that there is something v. heavy and head-like pressing down below and the lump at the top seems to be more bum-proportioned! Hoping the mw might be able to shed some light on Thursday.
Hi all, marking my place.
Have missed loads as my lap top has been sick and went to the computer hospital.
Four weeks to go for me! Eek!
pmgkt it's not hiccups is it?
Lol pills! V funny
Could be hiccups or a little hand pmgkt? Or twitching muscle?
My sister via text tonight still claims labour 'didn't hurt', 'you ride the contraction waves', she 'quite enjoyed it, esp the endorphins' can't remember the end but was aware of 'this big push' and enjoyed it so much she'd do it again..... and she was induced NOW she tells me, could have had a surrogate!
V much hoping there's genes to play here, all I had to go on before was my mothers diary entry for my birth, triggered by trying to cross pennines in Renault 4 (dad didn't drive) at 38 wks in snow storm, epidural worked on one side, forceps delivery....
Was told today of friend of friend has now had 5 sweeps! A daily sweep ! She's determined not to be induced! Our nct teacher said she'd tried to do it on herself but short arms and big bump scuppered her.
hi everyone and congratulations honey cant believe we have a baby on the thread all ready makes it all seem a bit more real i guess.
we went to Disneyland Paris on Thursday got home yesterday evening and I've spent most of today napping and catching up with all the chat ive missed out on. i was very glad for half term today as the dd's have played lovely and if dd1 had been at school dd2 would have been a handful.
i feel like a terrible mummy though dh bought the baby a present from Disney and it is gender specific (he knows the sex i don't) dd1 was looking for something we got her and found the present so she now also knows the sex......she is only 5 and i now feel she has this horrible burden on her shoulder keeping this a secret from me (dh was quite upset with her by all accounts and made it clear she wasn't to tell me) i just don't know how to deal with this
with regards to Christmas presents for the baby the dd's are going to get the baby a present and if he/she makes an appearance before Christmas we will save the present for then also dh has bought a few gender specific things that are wrapped so i don't see them so they will prob go under the tree
Grrrrr was having a fab sleep/dream and DS woke with another nightmare....
Now I can't get back to sleep again!
Restless legs, heartburn, and now I can hear him bloody snoring from his room as he insisted on doors being left open!!!
Wow!!! DH giving a sweep?! Mine would run a mile!
Ellie, my DS is 5, him DH and my friend arranged a surprise baby shower for me the other weekend,
DS wasn't supposed to know but overheard them talking,
DH was then forced into telling DS and involving him, So he wouldn't blow the surprise and tell me,
I had no idea of any of it, then the day arrived and everyone turned up, DS was actually thrilled he'd been able to keep it from me, like it had been his and daddy's secret!
Hopefully your DD will also enjoy keeping babys sex a secret with Daddy too.
Had a wonderful compliment from DS just before bedtime.....
He told me I look like Gloria (the hippo) from Madagascar!!!
Aparently not the face just the belly!!
Gee thanks Son!
I was stood in just my bra & pants but still not exactly the look I'm aiming for!
Been awake with reflux and baby hiccuping, so caught up on the last few days of chattering (I'm very behind!). DH away for work, so watching Mad Men in bed and eating digestives. Managed to put my omeprazole in a box on top of kitchen cupboards that's I can't reach so munching away on Rennes hoping that will stop the sicky burps!
Honey lovely news about moving to the cot, you will have him home in no time. Do you have to go home at night or is there somewhere you can stay? Our hospital has a 'hotel' where husbands can stay with the women if they need to stay in, it's fantastic.
I bought a my first Xmas tree decoration for Shrimpy and niece from Harrods (silly I know!) and getting they costumes for the day, but that's all, next year will be the first good Xmas for them.
I've had a gluey milky discharge since about 28wks, they told me to keep an eye on the colour (green is bad) but the consistence was nothing to worry about.
35wks tomo, I will definitely have a baby in 7wks, that's nerve racking!
And fanjo's full of pills is still making me giggle, you would be a human maraca!!!
Urgh, definite no to DIY sweeps, pills etc up there. I actually really hated perineal massage too (although did it religiously with DD and had a 2nd degree tear anyway) but everything I read tells me I should be doing it again. From my point of view, sweeps are next to useless unless your body is ready for labour. Mine wasn't, I had three sweeps from 40 weeks onwards, and still went 2 weeks over and then was induced. I tried everything, drank so much raspberry leaf tea, did loads of walking, had loads of sex (sorry tmi), hot curries, pineapple, etc etc. At least I'm prepared for it this time - have no doubt I will go to at least 40 weeks.
I can feel baby's head down low. Really really low. Not sure who said it, but I agree I felt nothing like this last time, especially this early on. Muscles down there must be shot!
Alison I think that's really cute re Gloria. My DD told me with a big grin yesterday that I looked "gorgeous" which made a very shitty day a lot better.
