good job Kveta for starting the new thread and nice title Smile

Thanks for all the nice words - GP just rang me,is going to see whether they still have my booking bloods and if they can still be used for the chicken pox test, otherwise will go and have blood taken.don't know how long the results take to come back...Poor DS is so poorly,he is permanently attached to me or DH and not eating at all.

warlin - isn't it so nice when you get a gift, makes you realise that it is real for others besides yourself and DP. I know what you mean about the "pearls of wisdom"...

SSC sorry to hear about your weekend

Ceej huge congrats on your thesis!!!

Kveta thanks for the new thread. Love the name.
seriously Sorry to hear about your weekend. Hope you get the pushchair to make up for it.
ffnorm Hope the immunity holds good and DS recovers soon.
ceej well done on thesis!

I have started my annual leave followed by maternity leave so am off work now. Given how ill I have been it's the best thing really.

One of my friends is going to the US and has asked if he can bring baby stuff back. Apparently it's cheaper and in some cases better there. I have no idea what to get. Does anyone know what kind of things I could ask him to get?

Thanks kveta and loving the name!

Minimy brother lives in the states and the babies's stuff is so much cheaper...he's going to send me over some newborn vests etc and some 0-3 month outfits. It's worth a go! But def cheaper than over here. Jealous of you finishing work...I'm struggling with motivation!

Hi all,

ffnorm - sorry to hear about the cp. Must be hard enough trying to comfort your poorly DS without the worry over LO too! I?m sure it?ll be fine. Thanks

Seriously - that must have been so disappointing, on your planned weekend away. DH and I are aware that we only have a few more opportunities for us to go away just as a couple, and I?d be furious if one of them was wasted because the hotel messed up like that! Grrr...

ceeej - well done on getting your thesis in!

Tea - NCT sales sound like they might be a bit scary! Do I need to get my elbows out ready to defend myself against shoving! Grin

Mini - you must be relieved to be off work now. Hope it gives you the time you need to rest and look after yourself.

Warlin - good luck with the self-control on eating. I?ve just about got myself disciplined, and at least I?ve proved to myself now that every time I trough, I really will pay for it!

Anyone else getting cramps in their legs at night? Got one so bad on Friday that it?s actually strained my calf muscle and I?m hobbling around now!

Saw my parents at the weekend. They?ve put aside some of my niece?s old clothes for us, and because we don?t know the sex of DC yet, DM?s divided them into ?girl?s? and ?unisex?...but she?s clearly got a different idea about what counts as ?unisex? than I do! Cerise top with puffed sleeves, anyone? (I thought I didn?t care, but DB pointed out that I?d be all right-on and non-gender-specific until I eventually got fed up with people saying ?Oh what a lovely girl!? when it was a boy or vice versa, and then I?d go all out on sparkly butterflies or camouflage prints!) So have somehow ended up in the position that the only item of baby clothing I have is a swimsuit. Confused

Afternoon all!

Sorry for the lack of posts but been so miserable and under the weather I didn't want to bring you all down! Hopefully the end is in sight now though - just left with a horrible cough!

Hope everyone else is ok!

I also went to an nct nearly new sale on Saturday, it was quite good and to be honest I would recommend going, bought a massive bag of clothes and only spent £21.50?! They were all Next, M&S, Gap and the disney store clothes too which didn't look like they'd been worn more than a handful of times! There were loads of prams, cots, toys etc but I just had a mill around the clothes. Definately worth going to one though! Next time I might take DH as I think I might have been being a little picky!

Not sure who mentioned it but I have very little self control when it comes to eating, I'm fine in the day but if I'm offered any snacks or cakes then I just can't stop! Pretty sure I'm going to have to start more exercise than the yoga I'm doing to stay in any kind of shape!

Can't believe we are at the 6 month stage already - where has the time gone?!

Hopefully Ill be back more often with you all, thanks for the get well soon messages, sorry I was off radar for so long!

Hope everyone has a lovely day!

Xx

Hi - just popping in to make sure I know where the thread is!

Not enough sleep in our house last night and DH is away so we are all grumpy, nice and sunny and windy though so at least my laundry might get dry!

DH is away for our local NCT sale on Saturday and its not idea to take kids so I will end up missing it I think - shame as I'd love to get a moses basket with a stand.

Hi all,

I've just found this thread - can I join? I'm due on 5th June with #3. Wasn't sure if I should join this or the May thread 'cos both my previous 2 were early (pre-eclampsia & IUGR so induction and EMCS respectively) and I fully expect to have this one in May.

Have had textbook pg so far - just the usual aches/pains/niggles but am completely paranoid/scared about everything going wrong from about 30 wks which is what happened with the other two. However both others were boys and this is (we think) a girl so maybe she'll be different - here's hoping Smile

Hiya everyone!

Just posting so I can keep track of you lot!

Just back from a midwife's appt - every one I have where my blood pressure behaves is a triumph as I'm unreasonably sure it's going to go high for no reason; so far, so good!

Next week is another scan on the Tuesday and then my GTT on the Friday. So many appointments I'm losing track! Will feel more relaxed when I'm past the GTT I think.

I'm still resisting the pushchair, although those of you that have pointed out I could treat myself to make up for the missed weekend away have a very persuasive argument...Grin

Hope everyone is well and that those of you who aren't feeling tip top at the moment manage to feel a bit better soon - and those of you starting maternity leave feel better for the time to chill out.

Things are so busy at work right now that I must admit to looking forward to when I start my annual leave then mat leave - 11 weeks on Friday this week. Not that I'm counting. Not at all.

Not sharp elbows required at the NCT sale, but ankles of steel! Lots of people seemed to bring along their little ones and abandon them once inside the hall - cue lots of toddlers all playing with the toys for sale, and mainly pushing around toy prams and the like and tripping you up! The adults were very well behaved though Grin
Definitely worth getting there early if you are after a bargain though (but be prepared for the queue) - we left it too late really. Ah well, you live and learn!
Next MW appointment on Thurs, really looking forward to it!

Morning all!

Hope you don't mind, but I just need a whinge. If I get this off my chest before I go to work I might last the day without screaming or crying!

I know this isn't just me and lots of you are feeling like this, but...

So tired. Sick of not sleeping and can't believe it's around six months since I last slept through the night. I can cope with getting up for the odd wee if I sleep well in between but I just seem to wake up every time I turn over. I'm absolutely knackered and was really short tempered at work yesterday as a result (and because the office was around thirty degrees - bloody air conditioning).

This morning I got into the kitchen and one of the cats jumped on my shoulder from the worktop and I just burst into tears. Poor DH just wants to help me sleep better but there really isn't anything he can do. I have a maternity pillow but I don't like being restricted in one position but then without it think I wake up when I turn over worrying that I'm in an 'unapproved' sleeping position such as right side etc. Arrrrggggghhhhhhhhhhhh.

Right. Whinge over. Chin up. Keep calm and carry on.

Hope you all have a good day and see you later folks.

Cathfin DS2 is 3.3. He was 3 in December and has just started showing an interest in using the potty and toilet. I've got him Fireman Sam pants which he loves and wears over his nappy Grin but I think they might be helping as he doesn't want to get Fireman Sam wet.

Seriously I don't know what to say to help you except for my MW says its fine to sleep on your right side. It's your back they worry about due to the baby lying on a nerve. I have that white chestnut rescue remedy stuff. I don't know if it actually helps or not but I feel I sleep better using it. I hope you get some good sleep soon.

Morning all!
seriously when I was pregnant with dd I didn't even know that sleeping on your left side is best! And this time I find sleeping on my right is more comfy and that's what I do most of the time...Don't stress yourself over that. You will not be sleeping on your back as it's really uncomfy at this stage and it comes naturally that you'll switch to one of your sides. As about not sleeping through the night ...well it may not happen for a loooong while yetWink...hope you have a nice day todaySmile

hiya,
my aunt died this morning, so the end finally came for her :( family pretty distraught, obviously. however, there is some solace in that she died at home, surrounded by her family, and just drifted off to sleep.

Seriously, I haven't slept since this pg began either. On top of 2 years with interrupted sleep from DS, I am feeling pretty broken too! Trying not to cry in front of DH, as he can't do anything about it, but I'm finding myself weeping at nothing a lot. I did hear that pg hypnosis cds are good for helping with sleep, so have got one - but it says to use only when you won't be interrupted for 25 minutes, and not whilst driving or before bed. Um, those are the only times I won't be interrupted... Not sure what to do. Will probably try and use it at bed time, as that has to be safer than driving! I have worked out now I've had 5 hours sleep since saturday morning. Not enough...

Kayzr yay for your DS! hope you have a nice quick training! my ghastly toddler isn't well (has a cold) so isn't sleeping at all, and is screaming when we ask if he wants to use the potty. After a week without dirty nappies, it's a bloody nuisance that he's reverting.

speaking of DS, I am about at the end of my tether with him. He was off nursery yesterday with a temperature, so DH took the morning off to look after him whilst I came into work, and apparently he was really good, well behaved etc. Then I got home, and he started whining at me, inserting a million letters into the word 'mummy' ('mmmmuuuuuuuummmmmmeeeeeeeeeeeeeee' whine whine whine) and generally being a pain. And at dinner he kept spitting his food at me, then screaming when I removed it from him. Then in the bath, he peed into his hair washing jug and screamed blue murder when I cruelly wouldn't let him drink it Hmm. Finally I got him out of the bath and he was kicking and screaming and going 'go WAY mummy, want DADDY'. So I ended up doing the dishes and crying whilst DH dealt with hideous-child. And the little bugger was up every hour during the night too. GAH. It was very much a 'drop kick across the threshold' morning at nursery.

sorry, am all doom and gloom at the moment. Miserable tuesday today :(

new folk, please copy and paste the stats to add yourself to them. and welcome to the thread of joy Hmm :o
