Smile glad you found it! kiki I meant to say before, house is going okay thanks, very slow due to Christmas though, no one has really done any work yet, still looking okay for a January move as long as I can get the last bits of paperwork from our landlord here (leasehold) which is a little 'blood from a stone'. Also, I have has the same strong recommendations for Lansinoh cream and have got mine already (when boots were doing a 3 for 2!) have been told one tube lasts forever so not to be put off by the price! Hello all!

No stretch marks here either as yet.

Fingers crossed on your house move speeding up Carlita.

I had an interesting chat with an old schoolfriend today re stuff you NEED for the baby. He's had four kids and said that they hadn't even bothered with a travel system for a new baby - they had carried it in a sling or papoose or car seat in the early months, then one of those carry-rucksack type things, and just got a pushchair later.

I can't believe I have 11 weeks to go. I think we are going to give the baby's room a bit of a paint job this weekend.

So what did you all make of OBEM last night?

KikiRC · 05/01/2012 21:29

Funny, Word, I was just speaking to a friend who's baby is just over 6 months now, and she's ended up buying a completely different pushchair- she's said if she did it again she wouldn't be half so worried about the forward/ back facing carrycot thing. Also, she spent so much time indoors the first six months it was hardly worth having a travel system at all!

I'm 11 weeks to go today, too. Argh!

Re: OBEM- that 10lb 10oz one made my eyes water!! Even the smaller 7 pounder looked enormous..

Good luck with the house, Carlita- I've just signed up to the 6 week pregnancy yoga course which is fully booked with 14 people, so hopefully a chance to meet some nice expectant Hastings mums, too.

I remember, Carlita- I've been quite hesitant about signing up because I'm not wild on the people who run the place and I'm sure I'll be pretty rubbish at it! But now my once-petite bump has expanded greatly, I can blame any ungainly wobbling about on that, and I am developing a few aches & pains, so I think it will do me good. I'll let you know if I meet any nice ladies there. Hopefully might meet some more, too, at the NCT classes that start in about a month's time, very happy to share them!

Hope you all have a good weekend- I've some decorators in doing all the high bits of walls and ceilings I can't reach- so hopefully I'll get the bedroom & living room in order by then end of next week, and can then start introducing the crib & things... Exciting.

Happy Saturday all!

Kiki - enjoy yoga! I get so much out of my classes, hope you will too.

carlita - I shouldn't have said about no stretch marks as I now have a couple right at the front of my bump, near my belly button (which is still an inny!) V annoying!

So yesterday, we went to Kiddicare superstore and bought the car seat and isofix base. We went for a maxi cosi as we've not seen a bad review about them. We also saw a lovely cot, wardrobe and chest of drawer set that we really like so we've got to just measure up the nursery to be sure it fits before ordering it. All coming together nicely Smile

The books do say 50-90% of women get them broody so the numbers on this thread kind of had to increase, still, sorry! Were you a 'belly tops' kinda girl before? Would be more annoying if so, I won't have a problem hiding mine until they fade. Smile
kiki hope you enjoy the yoga and NCT, I'd love to share the ladies you meet please, thank you very much, very kind of you! Grin
All the nursery talk is very exciting, I've planned it in my head, bought the cot and wallpaper and got the chest of drawers already, just need to move now! Smile

Oh I forgot to chat about OBEM yday! I thought it was a good first episode - emotional and amusing. Army guy and his wife were fab and although the young lad was making himself look a bit of a wally, it was clear in the end that he was only concerned about his girlfriend and their baby. I didn't realise you had to go into surgery for forcep delivery so that's something good I learnt. And although, yes, that baby was flippin massive and came out stunned and not breathing, I thought it was good that they showed it because it's again quite common and natural. However, I know I'd be so upset if ours didn't come out screaming! What did everyone else think? Xx

My friend has just had her baby Smile Two weeks late, a little boy as she suspected, 6lbs 14oz, theyve called him joshua (as most boys are being called in my world atm - my sister's, my cousin's and now my friend's boys all share that name!)

Anyone else got any other baby related joy away from here? Makes it even more real that it'll be happening to us soon :)

Nice new thread...........how exicting!

We started the nursery yesterday, well we cleared the whole room out of all of the rubbish and took up the old carpet etc. So its ready for the work to be started now, it's all becoming more real by the day!

I loved OBEM last week, I was holding my breath when that poor girl was having her forceps delivery and then waiting for her baby to breathe, 3 minutes must seem like a really long time!

Hello all,

Broody I've two close friends both expecting on 22 Jan and one whose baby girl was born on New Year's Eve. Plus a ridiculous number of old family acquaintances/ school friends all expecting in between now & May, must be some kind of localised baby boom, it's babies a-go-go.

I had a check-up today with the consultant, all fine- bump is now measuring 1 and a half cm over average (after having had a tiny bump for ages) and heartbeat good & strong. There were loads of about-to-drop women at the hospital who were at least double my size though- so can't imagine what my bump will look like in 11 weeks time!

Also got most of my painting/ decorating done (at least all the high bits that I can't reach). It's looking really nice, though everything's covered in a fine layer of plaster dust, so needs a thorough clean.

And I'm limbering up for pregnancy yoga tonight! I'm hoping it will help me finally master my pelvic floor exercises, which I've been a bit rubbish with.

Oh, also meant to say- when I got my new diary this year I realised my due date (22nd March) is a full moon, and apparently lots of babies are born around full moons. I think a lot of us on this thread are due all around that date, so will be interesting to see if there's any truth in it! X

Welcome milly glad you've joined us! I'm also expecting a boy on the 23rd! Grin
Agreed on OBEM broody, good review!
I have my midwife appointment tomorrow (28 week one I think with blood test) and, very excitingly, we have our 4D scan in the afternoon, me, DH and my mum, am so looking forward to seeing what the little man actually looks like and being able to see him moving around! GrinGrinGrin

Im at the midwife tomorrow too Carlita I had to have the rhesus neg jab after a bleed before chrimbo so I need to remember to ask her when I need the next one of those. Am jealous of your 4d scan though!

Have you all done nurserys? I have put up furniture and can't wait to start putting clothes in drawers and on hangers. I suspect he may have more clothes than me....

Yes, there was some confusion around my due date, Carlita because it got changed from the original (16th) and the sonographer wrote the wrong date on my notes, but we're all going with 22nd now.

Everyone sounds much more organised than me! My house is a complete tip- plaster dust over absolutely everything really doesn't help! X

Welcome milly ah, hope we're not too daunting now for you Smile I'm at the hospital tomorrow as I've got to have my anti d injection due to being rhesus negative. Not looking forward to the needle at all as I've heard it's a biggie! I am also having my 28 week blood tests (two weeks late!) so I'll be well and truly punctured Wink

Hi broodylicious this thread is a lot more manageable to keep up with now Im in at the beginning. 900 odd posts was just too much for my brain last time I saw the other march thread Confused

Anyway, please don't worry about the needle for the anti D. I had it after a bleed and sat in the hospital bed googling my little socks off in a panic. It honestly didn't hurt - though I deliberately didn't look at the size of the needle before hand!

Seems like lots of us are at the midwives tomorrow - hope it goes well for all :)

Hello!

Apologies! I slipped off the last thread and for some reason didn't catch the shiny new thread!
Welcome milly - I'm also due on 23rd March. It seems to be a popular date! Let's hope the 22nd full moon will help us along Wink

The homebirth article is this one:
m.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/2011/apr/16/home-birth-trial-or-rewarding?cat=lifeandstyle&type=article

In terms of prep - we've ordered the cot (on sale in mothercare) and it should arrive in next couple of weeks. The mattress, cot-top changer and spare mattress cover has already arrived, so it's starting to become real! Very exciting! We also need to shuffle spare room/nursery about with getting rid of an old bed/buying new sofa bed etc, so the room isn't going to be finished for a while yet. Just hope bump doesn't arrive early!!

Even though I'm hoping for a homebirth, I should prepare a hospital bag, which I haven't even got half the things for! Need to write a list and get shopping.

I'm really not feeling very organised! List writing session required!

It was funny at the weekend - I saw lots of friends & family and Got many different responses to my bump size - "aren't you big" "you're going to be huge by March" or "aren't you small" and "you're all bump"...make up your mind people!!

Hope the bumps are expanding nicely! Grin
