By the way I have spotted Dyzzidi has had her baby on the 21st Dec - Brooke! (what a coincidence) so really she was the first due in Jan to pop. doh...

Well - due today and no movement yet, but hours to go yet! Got a cuppa and a piece of toast in bed this am from dh, so he is obviously feeling sorry for me

Snow thawing a bit here, but meant to go down to -10 tonight... so hope he doesn't give us a very chilly ride to hosp in the middle of the night!

well i really thought it mite be happening last nite, i was up and down about 6 times with horrendous pain in my bump, but only on one side. it actually felt more like pain in the guts, like i had terrible wind. i went to the loo a couple of times and that seemed to help, then eventually thought of a hot water bottle, which also helped a lot. but if all that contracting of my bowel rite next to my bump didn't set off my contractions - what will? i feel resigned to another 2 weeks of overdue pg, just like with ds. i suppose 2 weeks isn't so bad wen you consider how long we've been waiting already.

we had an nct get together yesterday, and everyone had their babies except me. it's not fair!!! the latest to be born is absolutely stunning tho, 91b 1oz, very long, a sprinkling of dark hair and just the loveliest face. CLUCK, CLUCK, CLUCK! Can't wait to see Alexander's little face.

can anyone think of an original Christening present? dh and i have been asked to be Godparents in feb, but it's to a baby who doesn't exactly want for much. his parents are very well off. i'd like to get him something to keep till he's older, but i'm a bit stumped.

Hi all - just had a text from Georgie (I contacted her with Chuffed's update). She asked me to say hi to everyone and said she should be getting her pc on Thu so hopefully will be back on line soon to catch up

I'm just about to launch into taking the Xmas dex down (bursting with cleaning urges again today - am starting to wonder whether it's OCD rather than anything more productive!!!! lol)
No doubt will catch up later when I've burnt out Have a good one all!!

I didn't realise you'd gone final on Alexander how lovely!!! - wish we could agree on a name - he going to be "his nibbs" forever at this rate

Christening prezzies - We have bought fruit trees for children before so they can grow with the children(apple/pear) You can get ones that are happy to stay planted in big pots which is ideal if there's a move likely (ours were for children of military parents who moved every 2 years!!)

Hi all, and a very happy new year - I had a bit of a scary start/end to the year, and at one point thought I was going to be following Chuffed into the baby production line... ready for the tale?...

Thursday night, having just got into bed and having some pillowtalk with DH, felt a dampness between the legs and thought "wey-hey, this could be my waters breaking". Dashed to sit on the toilet, and realised that it was not fluid but fresh bright red blood. Remembered from the text books that this is not a Good Thing, so called community midwife straight away who advised waiting to see if any further gushes or if it was just a one-off.

DH very concerned, but I was not that worried as no accompanying pains or cramps, and lots of movement from baby. So went back to bed with giant sanitary pad and slept through to early hours of morning. However, towel quite heavily blood-stained again, so still losing blood. Called labour ward and went in at 9am (having packed hospital bag for first time... just in case).

To cut a long story short, bleeding continued for about another twelve hours, had lots of monitoring, baby fine throughout. Had ultrasound late afternoon to see if placenta abruption could be seen, but nothing abnormal showed up (lovely to see babs again tho!). Bleeding eventually halted late evening, so they kept me in overnight to check that really was going to be it.

A clean pad in the morning (thank goodness), and more monitoring. Eventually got discharged lunchtime Saturday. Lots of bed rest since then, and obviously a very very quiet new year!

Just so frustrated at lack of conclusion on cause of blood loss. They think it's probably a small abruption of placenta (which often doesn't show on scan), but they don't really know where the blood was coming from or what caused it.

Still, baby very active, lots of strong BHs (that's why they thought I might go over into labour as monitoring showed up very regular and strong BH activity, about once every ten minutes at one stage), but no pain at all, and cervix was still tightly closed, so no other signs yet.

Sigh, glad not to have a new year baby, but I had got myself all psyched up for it, so also now slightly disappointed that babs is staying in there a bit longer - honestly, typical woman, never satisfied eh?! DH has been great at focussing on the positives about the whole experience - at least we know that all is well with babs, and got to see him/her again on the scan (pretty sure it's a HER now, as fetal heartrate was consistently 140bpm and above).

Rachey - love your bump cast... what a wonderful record of your blooming belly (wayward nipples aside). I am now starting to think about how much I will miss having something to stroke and pat of an evening (may have to substitute DH!).

Eshay - hope things are getting better for poor Thomas... GPs can vary so enormously, sounds like you have a right numpty. Can you change to a different one within the same practice?

Lyra - hope the pains either start something happening or die away - it must be really frustrating being in pain but with nothing else happening.

Keep posting new pics on the Yahoo site - it's great to see everyone's bumps at this late stage (don't think any of us are looking particularly enormous), aren't we a lovely bunch eh?

Looking forward to an announcement from Jaysfirst soon!! Off for another relaxing bath now, and yet another easy afternoon on the sofa.

thanks for your lovely long post. bit of a scary time eh? glad it was painless though.

we've lost our cat, so that's the main thing going on atm, looking for her. she went out on NYE and hasn't been seen since. i didn't really think abt fireworks, or i'd've kept her in. so bella and me have been out scouring the streets and gardens locally, and dh, ds and dd have gone in the other direction on their bikes, but no luck yet. hope she comes home soon or ds will be distraught (she's his cat). i'm guessing she might have got shut in somewhere like a shed or garage when she was hiding from the fireworks. i feel v guilty for not keeping her in.

Iris - been cleaning here too today! Not doing anything specific on the kick start front, altho tried to get dh interested in a bit of action this morning, but dd2 yelling 'Daddy!' from her cot downstairs put a stop to that . Might try curry later. It would be so nice to have the option of a takeaway.. one of the biggest things I miss about home!

Lyra is your bump better today? And Eshay, hope T is better now...

Loomer, that must have been so scary! Good thing you went to hospital and they took their time to check you over. I think I would have run to hospital in a panic at the first sign of any blood.

Thomas is alot better today. he is still a bit picky with his fod after being spoilt rotten for a week but he seems to be fever free today. He's having a nap now and I will soon follow. MMmmmmm. We can't really change GPs as there are only 2 in our surgery and they are both exactly the same. I swear I can't even tell which one is which. Next time I need to go I'll do some internet research first and suggest my findings and ask him to tell me why it can't be what I think it is. A bit backwards, but who wants to give their child antibiotics at the first little cough?

Any news on the cat, Lyra? They do turn up, we've had a neighbourhood cat lost and there are now stickers on the posters to say it's been found. We've also had a letter through the door asking to check in our shed for a lost cat and the whole street was talking about the poor thing so people do care and are willing to invest a minute or two.

Good luck to Jaysfirst, at least once your waters have gone it's the beginning of the end - perhaps she's delivered her little girl by now?

Loomer - how frightening for you - glad it's settled down, you relax and take care. My hairdresser is a week less than me with her 3rd and has placenta praevia with some abruption, they have made her stay in hospital since the beginning of December with no sign of a c-section till this week! They must be happy with you to let you home, awful to have to stay in. And never mind the bump, you will have baby to stroke soon! Just to be controversial, I would say 140bpm could still go either way! Fun guessing though.

Lyra - hope you find puss soon, I bet ds is heartbroken. BTW Alexander is a fine name, I think we have settled on it as a middle name! It has a good rhythmn to it Don't tire yourself out with all that walking now... I think you and me are contenders for the longest gestations! We are off to see King Kong this afternoon, I think I might need a tea break in the middle!

Must have been something in the air last night as I was having period type pains before bed. Still got them today but I am resigned to the fact that I'm going to have pains until she is born now. Was v emotional last night as well. Must also be cleaning day today we've blitzed the downstairs and are going to start the upstairs in a bit taking decs down and putting some of DDs toys in her room. Also going to get the car seat out the loft (scary).

Jaysfirst - best of luck hope it's not too bad for you and your holding your baby soon (if not by now)!

Eshay - glad Thomas is feeling a bit better now. Poor little man. Abbie has a runny nose and thats bad enough.

Loomer - that's really scary but glad things have settled down, you take it very easy.

Lyra - I think Alexanders lovely too DP was keen on Alex for a girl.

Anyway hope everyone else is doing ok who's next to update the list - it's too exciting!

Tickle - lol at your interruption this morning. A friend was telling me last night that she and her DH were "rather busy" on top of the bed in full flow a couple of days ago & she turned round to see her 6 yr old DS standing in the doorway looking rather confused Apparently her DH is fitting a little bolt to the door today

Rachey - Hope you enjoy King Kong (am I the only person not to have been to the cinema in months?!!) I usually end up missing the films then having to wait until they come out on DVD - I am so disorganised when it comes to going anywhere!!

Lyra - hope your cat turns up soon. At least the weather's been fairly mild.

I have to say that the title of this thread is decidedly disconcerting. Every time I see it I'm reminded just how much denial I'm in about the fact that I'm actually going to give birth soon

Know what you mean Iris I just watched a birth on TV (trying to get DP to watch it as it was a lovely homebirth) and thought "erm I shouldn't really watch this! I'm in denial too I think"

I'm still here can't believe I've had all these period type pains and nothings happening. As I've said before with DD I didn't have so much as a twinge before my waters went so all this is a new experience. I will probably have another 2 weeks of this

hello everyone - am a bit late in joining you all so bear with me while i get to know whos who and whats what...

am listed on the stats as MissC BTW, but changed my nickname to this before having a good old moan on another thread about step-son/dp's horrible ex etc. was needing an outlet quite badly but have worked through it a bit now, so feel able to talk about nicer things now, like all these imminent babies (Yay!! sod denial, i am just SO OVER being pg and really looking forward to third AND FINAL [please please emoticon!] birth, though i bet i have to wait till blinking february knowing my luck.

oooh, cant wait to have a little sqidgy one again - they grow so fast! and the last one was 9lb2 so was never really very small to start with!
