Hi all,

I thought I would try to start a thread and see if anyone responded. I am expecting my first baby end of September and am getting a bit anxious about not knowing anyone in the area. I have missed out on NCT classes due to not booking early. I am going to pregnancy yoga in Blackheath, but ladies there don't seem to be up for chatting too much... Any other ideas of how to meet people? Or are you in the same situation and due any time soon? Would love to hear from you if so...

Hi there I live in the area youve mentioned. I dont have any really young children as mine are much older. But I found when I was pregnant that there were a few Mother and baby groups in and around the area. Pre-birth I was pretty much on my own.
I cant tell you where these groups are being held. But these are things they will tell you when youve had the baby :)

Thank you very much, MelloOne! Will be patient then until the baby arrives!

Hi there Lala29:)

Congratulations on your pregnancy! I am also a pregnant lady in the area.

I am 27, due in december, and live in greenwich. This is also my first child.

I was going to join one of those yoga classes as well, are they any good?

I dont know anyone who is pregnant in this area either and it would be great to meet someone who also has a "condition" ;) See pregnant people all the time, but it is not really easy to just start up a conversation with strangers...

Hope you get in touch! And good luck anyway:)

Oooh, hello! Well, I am 29 (as you may have guessed!) and live in Hither Green. But mum lives in Blackheath and I am often in Greenwich park walking the dog.

I have been doing a yoga class for a while now and to be honest it's not really my kind of thing. Pre pregnancy I used to run a lot and go to the gyma nd the idea of yoga and pilates never really appealed. I joined mainly to make some friends. But I find (with the one I go to anyway), that people change quite often and a lot of the ladies just turn up and sit there not saying anything. I have tried to start up conversations a few times and people get chatting once you talk to them, but it's always a bit of an effort. I am currently giving it until the end of my course of 5 that I bought to see if I manage to "chat anyone up" and if not, might stop wasting my money... My husband is actively pimping me out to any pregnant lady he meets through work, bless him, although none of them live in the immediate vicinity.

Anyway, I'll send you my email address privately (if I can work out how to do it) and would be lovely to meet up. After all, a couple of months once the babies are born is nothing really! (I am due 30th September).
