giraffe does that mean you have to call your LO 'Westminster', using Beckham baby-naming rules? I also found out on RW day, bank holidays are great for POAS!
Have a question, sorry if it's been covered before as I was a late joiner to the last thread... are any first-timers reading a preg book and would you recommend it? And is there anything- book, website- I can direct DH to? At the mo he is full of ill-informed opinions about what I we should do but won't actually gen up on anything, it's driving me up the wall!

I have this one:

www.amazon.co.uk/Your-Pregnancy-Bible-revised-expanded/dp/190476097X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1308142322&sr=8-1&tag=mumsnet&ascsubtag=mnforum-21

It covers lots of things from conception to caring for your newborn. Lots of reviews on amazon as well to give you a better idea if the book is a good choice for you.

Looking forward to seeing any other recommendations esp on childbirth and breast feeding.

Hey everyone. We concieved on the Royal Wedding aswell.

It took me a while to find the first thread as I wrote a post the other day but i was in a rush and apparently it didnt actually post. Ahh well found it now.

I had my booking in appointment this morning. The midwife was having trouble with the computers but got there in the end. I have to ring the hospital later to make my scan (its my 12 week one but we are havign it at 10 weeks. Im entitled to a 9 week one but they cant fit me in then so they are doing one at 10 weeks instead.)

How is everyone doing? I have the constant feeling that im going to be sick all day but havent actually been sick yet. Other then that just the usual sore boobs. They have got a lot bigger, DH likes it but theyre too sore for him to go near hehe.

Conchita I have this book, www.waterstones.com/waterstonesweb/products/maggie+blott/the+day-by-day+pregnancy+book/6621007/ among many others (my sisters bought me another 6 from car boot sales) I think its fab, has great pictures aswell.

Hope everyone is doing well. Im off to get something to nibble on =)

Hello all, thanks pupascupa for providing the new thread.
I have got the foulest taste in my mouth today. Like I have licked too many stamps. Whatever I eat, it's still there, and I've brushed my teeth about 4 times.
I am feeling cheerful today. DS has been in hospital for a couple of days having an operation, I found it a bit traumatic. But all seems to have been successful, and he's now full of beans again. Toddlers are amazing, they just nonce back so quickly; even in scary and horrible situations, they just get on with it.

conchita When I was PG with DS I got a book call "your pregnancy week by week" by Lesley Regan (she's a professor obs/gynae and mother of twins). I loved it, very sensible and lots of good pictures. I then got the follow up "your baby month by month" when he was born

thanks for all the recommendations weevie d0gface and spagbolagain - these all look just like the kind of thing I'm after: factual and not patronising. But DH will be delighted to know that 2 of them are by DK as he loves their travel books and buys one for everywhere we go! This could prove a winner for making him take an interest.
Spagbolagain glad to hear that DS is okay, and hope it was nothing too nasty. wish we could be as brave as toddlers!
But what would the News of the World say if they knew you'd written 'nonce' and 'toddlers' in the same sentence? Shock

Oh I would love some peanut butter on toast! but DH has severe nut allergy so don't have it in the house. Tis a guilty pleasure when I am at my mum's!
Nice n spicy niknaks sound very tempting too.

I have just finished cooking tonight's dinner
we are having spagbol, AGAIN (haha, we do have other things occasionally) but I have made the healthy version with loads of peppers, carrots, tomatoes etc in it. DS probably now won't eat it :o

I thought you meant you had eaten 6 Terry's Chocolate Oranges in a row. impressive! Due to aforementioned gastroenteritis have been mostly living on lucozade and jelly babies. Now have bitten into a salted cracker and felt a big pain in my tooth. Hope I haven't knackered my molars on the sugar. Oh misery! Having a bad week. :(

Hi everybody and welcome to the newly arrived.
I can't believe I'm posting again. I really thought there was no hope for the little bean - as per the midwife. But all is well. Grin

I went in yesterday for a scan with the MW. She saw a fetus about 8-9 weeks but couldn't see a heartbeat. She asked me to come back in the afternoon for a doctor to scan me. Doctor could see an empty sac and told me I must have miscarried. That just didn't make sense as where had it gone in the 2 hours, had I sneezed it out?

So the confused MW advised me again about miscarrying and arranged for a internal scan in the hospital for this morning.

Low and behold, there was a 9w3d, heart beating, legs kicking, little bean.

I'm over the moon but exhausted emotionally. It was good though that I got the second opinion with a different sonographer and on a different machine.

Off to eat some cheddar and a Caramel bar. Smile
