Not sure I can remember everything I had to say now we're on new post!

Good luck tomorrow dirge
Excellent work Caz
Welcome toffee
Great news pipsbump

Right that's all I can manage off top of my head.

I don't feel pregnant either. I've had no ms and hardly any other symptoms apart from being tired and very ratty, but that could just be me on a bad day. I dread there being nothing there at the scan.

Oh Dirge do you have a scan tomorrow? Good luck!

Welcome toffee

My pregnancy symptoms have pretty much gone too, not feeling so tired or sick. But boobs still big and tummy even bigger!

Thanks all :) I find it incredible really that something so positive can come out of it all; but if my openness and honesty about our experience raises awareness and help others who've been through simular to have the confidence to share their children too then it totally worth doing. :)

I had no idea the figure was 17 a day either - that is 6500 every year. It is a shockingly high figure and the equivalent to 16 jumbo jets crashing every year with no survivors, yet even though so many babies are lost and so many families devasted it is a rarely spoken about and often poorly reported occurance. Lily Allen and Amanda Holdens losses recently I thought could've been reported so much better and the perfect opportunity to raise awareness.
That's why I'm so pleased with our article today. take a look at //www.why17.org

I feel kinda strange talking about this here because I really don't want to frighten anyone, but I guess it is a huge part of who I am now and is going to affect everything I think and feel throughout this pregnancy. plus I'm so excited about everything we're managing to achieve for Sands at the moment and just want to share that too!

alicat it would be great to see you there. I'm sure we can figure out a way for people to join in the raffle as long as everyone is aware that the majority of the prizes are local. Um, I guess by donating to the justgiving page or something? //www.justgiving.com/anabelles-angel-day

Loving that we're already on a new thread again!

Morning all, nothing much to report here, my worry about spotting is over and done with, darn child just gave me a fright on Monday and nothing else since then, two weeks till my scan then fingers crossed everything will be ok.

Welcome to all the newbies and glad to hear that there has been some successful scans, it is frustrating that we are all still waiting for the next couple of weeks till the scans are here!!!

Hello! Just a quick post as I am rushing to get ready for scan .

I have to decide today if I want the quad test or the nuchal fold test. I have googles but I can't find a comparison of the two and don't know how to make the decision.

Help!

Has anyone had either? I was only offered the triple test with DD and didn't question things as much then. Started a thread in pregnancy but its a bit quiet today...

1st MW appointment today what sort of information an I going to need to know? As in what sort of questions is she likely to ask?

Report
Katiebeau · 14/04/2011 09:23

Dirgeinvegs - according to my pregnancy book (no clue of their references though) the nuchal + bloods is as good for detection as the quad text but slightly less false positives.

H007 - what services, home birth, midwife led etc are available in your area. What testing to expect, schedule of when they will want to see you. Any questions you have on symptoms etc. Re you she should ask your weight, any health issues, any concerns, diet issues etc. (Smoking, drinking etc sometimes).

Katie thanks for posting that this morning, I have opted for the Nuchal Fold screening and have to go to another city (or to a city) to have it next week because my hospital doesn't do it.

Scan went well, the sonographer did that thing they always do and kept the screen away while she hunted for the baby and the heartbeat and when she turned the screen round all I could see was a blob. I said "Hasn't it got any arms yet?" and she laughed and showed me it's arms, legs, heart, cord, placenta and the hemispheres of the brain. It look like an actual baby now!

She also dated me at 11+5 which puts me back to 28th October I think but I'm staying here if that's ok?

Lol at the Indie Midwife stuff, I always think of the Madchester music scene when I hear indie. I was being lazy, I should have just said independent midwife. She can't make it tonight now but she's coming next week which is a blessing really because it means I don't have to tidy or break out the posh biscuits just yet.

TwoJack a friend of mine said the same, she had no symptoms at all and dreaded her first scan but all was fine. She said she really thought there would be nothing there. Her baby is 2 months old now.

Caz I think you're doing a wonderful thing and please don't censor yourself for worry of scaring people. Loss like yours is a sad fact of life and I'd bet my last pound that you're helping and supporting more women and families than you're scaring.

H007 let your dh draw up a short list and you just do the final cull. You can find something and move in 6 months. You'll be fine Smile

ah would love an independent midwife - then I'd get my homebirth. But they cost about £4000 so out of our reach if we are to fund my maternity leave. My employer gives quite generous leave but when you're the bigger earner in the house, the weeks of smp cost quite a lot of salary.
I'm looking into a doula - only costs a few hundred. At least it's something.

Hope all scans went well. Mine's next week!!

Yay to a new thread! was looking for it last night on my phone but couldn't find it, was too tired though, had a girlie night in and has some friends over to watch a film, everyone drinking wine, and me pretending to join in with drinking pink fizzy juice Wink
will have to find an 'excuse' for tonight as we're going out again with friends to a Body Shop Home Party and I won't be driving. Might just say I'm still a bit tired.

I received an ante natal clinic appointment today for the 18th of July with an Obstetrics Nurse All Grades... very strange as the MW didn't mention anything about that. Does this mean they have change my care plan from MW-led to something else? Could be because of the spotting and my visit to the EPU, will have to ask the MW about it.

One more week till my 12 week scan! :)

dirge glad your scan went well! I'm following both October and November bus, as I thought my due date would be in October but dating scan put me at EDD 3rd November... So could be either way, depending on the baby showing up early or on due date or late...
Hope not too early as DD's birthday is 31st October and would like it to be a few days difference.

dirge really pleased on the good scan! I'm already on the countdown to 10th May (am still only 8+4).

caz don't worry about being scary. We're all here to share the hard stuff as well as the fun stuff. I've been impressed at your strength and openness about something so difficult to cope with.

Thanks for all the comments re booze - I've not been in the mood at all, so the issue's not come up. I think I will have a small glass at the weekend as a test - as I think I've pretty much gone off the stuff anyway. At least then I'll know.

Had a lovely time at a friend's baby shower last night - so nice to be on a night out (well, in) when nobody batters an eyelid at you not drinking. Only one girl there knew, but with two other pg women in the room, it was mocktails all the way. Bunked off early though to cough myself to sleep...

Sorry to revert to an old subject but is anybody terrified at the thought of a home birth? It's great to hear all the positive things about them but I'm not sure I've got the guts!

dirge yay for a great scan.

i'm feeling really grrr, at the moment, just phoned hosp can't get scan till 5/5, dh refuses to pay for a private. i'm working myself up to a mess all cause of the bleed last week, didn't really want to go back to the gp to ask for epu but may have to.

since writing above i have contacted epu, spoke to the same woman i spoke to after my mmc, she's booked me in but i need to get the gp to fax them. my asshole husband has turned his phone off, sent me a text saying do what i want, he no longer cares and he gives up. Wonderfully supportive of him. really really wish i could have a bottle glass of wine. glad i bought lots of fatty stuff today.
