I think the max thread length is 1000 posts. Stress of the evening is that DH is convinced he'll be put on a 4 day week soon. I'll have to go and do supply teaching until I get too fat :(

motherof I start panicking today at the realisation that whilst as of now I have no issue working up til 38 weeks what the bloody hell will I do if I can't get behind the wheel to drive? I'm 5'4 with stupidly short legs and have to have my seat almost as close to the wheel as it'll go...how's that going to work with a big bump in the way?

Can't believe am half way there. I was going to work up til the end of May but as I work for a small company and had premmie baby last time might stop a lot earlier and take holiday otherwise I might not hand everything over in time. We will see....

Waves back to moomin who has great taste in boys names. Also everyone else.

I like the name ruby but someone I know with a colour as a surname called their daughter that.

I like the names discussions, having decided to change my surname to my married name, it now poses a few name combo dangers. My new surname will be Field which seems fairly inoccuous...until you try putting it with...Woody, Poppy, Misty, Chester, Daisy, Ann etc etc! DH will not entertain any discussion about the boys names he chose years ago and we had a row yesterday. William Robert is his choice, which is fine til you shorten it to Bilbo or Billybob - do you think this would be cruel?

Scan day today..not sure of DH is coming or even talking to me yet!

Louja I've got a girl but sonographer still refered to her as he throughout the scan so still may be a suprise yet

Thanks crumble for that. You give me some hope it could be either. I would like a girl but when its born you are so happy to have a healthy baby it doesn't matter. When DS was born they told me he was a girl! Yes really. So maybe they refer to all babies as he or she depending on who the Sonographer is.

banana I have been wondering the same thing. Am the same height as you, also with short legs, and a long commute. Hopefully I can take holiday before I go on maternity leave, otherwise I'm going to be hitchhiking to work!

barbie what brilliant news about your results! I hope you had at least a sniff (or maybe a sip) of champagne to celebrate. Or at least a big bit of cake Congratulations to you too louja on getting to the halfway point. We should all be patting ourselves on the back I think. Welcome back to the thread!

jasmine I don't think there's anything wrong with William Robert - both lovely names and I don't know anybody with a nickname which is an abbreviation of both their first and middle names. I'm sure it wouldn't happen ...

Jasmine I agree, honestly, Billy Bob hadnt even occured to me when I read that - not until you mentioned it also, he'll more than likely be William - its rare to actually use Robert day to day. Really lovely imo, you cant go wrong with a good classic name like this.

Am 23 weeks today (or 24 weeks on Saturday if I go by the dating scan). Works crazy so time is really beginning to fly by (thankfully!!!!) roughly 17 weeks of pregnancy left, 15 weeks of work - wont feel it!!.

Can I just ask your opinions? I've started a thread in baby names.

"As I've mentioned on here before, we are definate on Kate if this LO is a girl.

We've started on middle names and for a while were going to go with Kate Gabrielle/a (as Gabrielle/a was a close second), which I think is beautiful.

DH has now suggested that we use my mother's name as a middle name. This really is very ..well fitting I suppose, as my mother is a massive part of our lives - we are both very close to her. She has no other DC other than myself and my dad and her divorced when I was very young and its just been us two ever since.

Our DC and her have an unusually close relationship. She adores them and vice versa. She is extremely helpful and supportive and although she drives us crazy at times, we both dont know what we'd do without her.

I know that if we told her we were naming this baby after her it would really mean the absolute world to her and so, for these reasons everything points to using her name over Gabrielle/a.

Thing is, Kate - albeit beautiful imo, is very plain and simple imo and my mothers name is Anne.

Kate Anne. Both one syllable names, both lovely but is not very, very boring and... meh???

Jasmine - I think they are great names! I think the abbreviation would be more of an American thing.

I can see why you would need to be careful with the surname Field :)

Motherofsnortpig - i'll take the pooey baby .

barbie i think using your moms name is a love idea. What about using the full version of kate.....ie Kathryn, Kathleen for the birth certificate etc as this stops the 2 syllable thing. In everyday life you will use Kate so it doesnt really matter that its Kate Anne ( which i think is also ok )
Not sure if that makes sense :)

Agree with moomin barbie - perhaps use Catherine for the birth certificate? Catherine Ann (nn Kate) is lovely.

Or, as Gabriella was a close second, Gabriella Ann? I am biased because I voted for Gabrielle/Gabriella on the other thread!

All are lovely choices, and it's lovely your DH suggested using your mum's name :)

Hi all, we had our scan this morning, and all is fine with the baby. We're having a boy! I've gotten boy vibes and have been calling the baby "he" throughout my pregnancy, so I actually would have been surprised today if it was a girl (although we would have of course been thrilled either way). I'll update my info on the stats thread.

8RD, thanks for letting me know about fast-tracking the baby's passport. I'll talk to my GP and MW about whether it will be safe for the baby to travel before getting his immunisations.

Jasmine, my brother is called William Robert and he did get a few "Billy Bobs", but generally only from (American) family who were winding him up. I think it's a lovely name! We'll likely be using William as a first name as well (it's a several-generation family name on my side), perhaps with Nicholas as a middle name (a family name on DH's side).

Barbie, I think it's really nice to use family names when you can, and Kate Anne is lovely, although I would second moomin's suggestion to consider using a full version as her official name (just a personal preference).

Barbie What about Kate Gabrielle/a Ann or Kate Ann Gabriella? Three names are very common now and with Kate Ann Gabriella in particular there's a lovely rhythm because of the two shorter names followed by the longer one. It's beautiful. Also, Gabrielle/a is far enough along the line so that if you ever have another little girl she can be called that outright!

Ooh and mrswantstobeamum congratulations! I can't believe how much more real it feels after the 20 week scan - maybe it's knowing the gender, maybe it's just feeling the baby is thriving, but it's a nice feeling.

This is a TMI post so i apologise.....
Is anyone else having excessive vagnal discharge. The last couple of days i sometimes feel like i am wetting myself but its an excess of a very watery white discharge. I have now resorted to panty liners but its still happenening and makes me feel a bit unclean. Is this normal or should i get it investigated??

I would get it investigated moomin, it sounds similar to my last pregnancy which I just took as normal part of pregnancy but when I had a bleed at 30 weeks they tested me and I had bacterial vaginosis and the discharge stopped after 3 days of antibiotic treatment. BV is very common, and in most cases causes no symptoms at all so lots of ladies live with it without treatment but I believe there can be a few complications in pregnacy so always worth getting looked at.
