Well, after changing my mind about a TOP back in December, those of you who remember...
My baby girl was born today against all the odds weighing 7lb 8oz and after a 35 hour labour.
No name as yet.
She is my 4th baby and her birth was hideous to be frank.
Booked for a home birth but we went 14 days overdue with ectopic heart beats discovered at routine post dates scan at the weekend.
Induction being virtually being forced on me and took a lot of will power to resist and give her a chance.
Cut to Tuesday when I gave in and had induction booked which I turned up to, only yo change my mind. Then Wednesday when I was all set with Shiney to be induced only to find that birthing partner could not attend after 9pm unless active labour had begun. Didn't want to birth alone and also wanted still to be a t home so came home fuming. That night contractions began...Finally.
Come 3am labour was really happening so Iphoned ahead to community midwife so she would be warned of the need to come out to me soon. Previous birth were 17 hours, 4 hours and 1 hour!
At around 8am two midwives arrived and then stayed with me for the birth except good strong and frequent contractions started to tail around lunchtime and by now I'd been on TeNs with contractions for around 12 hrs.
At this point I was transferred by Ambulance to Watford General (long story) hitting a bus on the way despite blue lights! Had shiney with me but tired and despondent by this point as induction loomed.
Was still reluctant to have ARM or Stretch and sweep in hospital so carried on with walking and birthing ball using TeNs for some time to no avail. finally agreed to stretch and sweep which produced dilation to about 4cm -whoppee doo!
Hold on more to add...but sore hand
