Hobbgobblin's little miracle is here aided by the loving support given by so many but especially Shinypinkshoes, my birth partner

Well, after changing my mind about a TOP back in December, those of you who remember...

My baby girl was born today against all the odds weighing 7lb 8oz and after a 35 hour labour.

No name as yet.

She is my 4th baby and her birth was hideous to be frank.

Booked for a home birth but we went 14 days overdue with ectopic heart beats discovered at routine post dates scan at the weekend.

Induction being virtually being forced on me and took a lot of will power to resist and give her a chance.

Cut to Tuesday when I gave in and had induction booked which I turned up to, only yo change my mind. Then Wednesday when I was all set with Shiney to be induced only to find that birthing partner could not attend after 9pm unless active labour had begun. Didn't want to birth alone and also wanted still to be a t home so came home fuming. That night contractions began...Finally.

Come 3am labour was really happening so Iphoned ahead to community midwife so she would be warned of the need to come out to me soon. Previous birth were 17 hours, 4 hours and 1 hour!

At around 8am two midwives arrived and then stayed with me for the birth except good strong and frequent contractions started to tail around lunchtime and by now I'd been on TeNs with contractions for around 12 hrs.

At this point I was transferred by Ambulance to Watford General (long story) hitting a bus on the way despite blue lights! Had shiney with me but tired and despondent by this point as induction loomed.

Was still reluctant to have ARM or Stretch and sweep in hospital so carried on with walking and birthing ball using TeNs for some time to no avail. finally agreed to stretch and sweep which produced dilation to about 4cm -whoppee doo! hmm

Hold on more to add...but sore hand

My fourth birth was awful too. Annoying because everyone expects them to just pop out by number 4.

Aww Hob I am amazed you found time to even post that bit! Hope your hand is less painful now.

I got home, laid down on the sofa at about 7- and have JUST woken up! shock

It is most definately Hob's story to post but I'd just like to say that she has been amazing in the way she haS got through the last few days. It was a complete privilege to be there for her and see her beautiful baby born. I sobbed completely unashamedly in fact!

Poor Hobb had canulas in not just one but both hands NL- and the first one went a bit wrong leaving her with a very ouchy hand just to add to the mix

FabBakerGirlIsBack Fri 24-Jul-09 20:20:19

I also remember your distress and are so pleased the baby it here and all is well (ish)

Northernlurker Fri 24-Jul-09 20:21:48

Ooooh nasty! Thanks for the explanation - I was thinking 'a sore hand?? has she got the right body part there or has she mistyped in all the excitement?'

I had a huge bruise on my arm after dd1's birth for the same reason. Not nice.

I'm sure Hobb will fill you all in over the weekend when she's caught up on some sleep

Northernlurker Sun 26-Jul-09 18:12:24
