Almost 10 days late and due to go for induction at 07:30 the following morning I felt really nervous going to bed that night.
I woke up at three am ish and had niggly contractions (been having them for the past ten days) so didn't get too excited but at around 4.30 am I thought my waters broke, so at five am decided to go to hosp.
In the taxi the contractions were every 2 mins and getting really strong so the thought of the lovely epidural was keeping me going!
Got into labour room, got changed, put monitor on me for 10 mins to check baby heart beat and by this point I was on the verge of losing it and begging for an epidural.
The midwife said that she had to check my dilation, she did, said you are fully dilated and your waters HAVEN'T broken (so must of wet myself at home ), she said that she was going to break them and that I would deliver straight away. To be honest I just didn't believe her!!
She broke the waters which were full of Meconium, it was like a green mudslide gushing out .... gross and the baby's head was out in 3 pushes, it took another couple of pushes for her to be born at 5.59am.
It was the best feeling ever, both my DS's were born by ventouse after hours of failed pushing and I never got what people meant by almost 'enjoying' the pushing part, but I stupidly feel so proud of myself that I have pushed her out.
She was 8lb 7 oz and is called Cora. We stayed in for 24 hours for them to monitor her cos of the Meconium but she is absolutely fine and we are home now, breast feeding well and very happy. xxxxxx
