Hi everyone,
I'm very very pleased to announce the safe arrival of SkiingBaby aka Abbie Elizabeth Pamela. She weighs 7lb exactly and arrived at 4.50am on Tuesday morning.

Gory details for anyone interested....

I started having pains after Corrie on Monday night about every 20 mins so decided to stay up and watch ER. Watched ER and the pains were coming every 10 - 15 mins. (The excitement of seeing Luka!). Went to bed but couldn't sleep as the contractions started coming every 8 - 10 mins and were v painful. At about 2am I decided to go downstairs and get a drink at which point the contractions suddenly jumped to every 4-5 mins and were lasting over a min each. At this point I decided it would be a good idea to go back upstairs and wake up DH!! Woke him up and told him I needed his help now. Once he saw how hard and fast I was contracting it was like a comedy - he was dashing round the room trying to get dressed, rub my back, get my notes and the phone!!

Rang the hospital and arrived there at 3.06. Told DH to park in the car park rather than right outside the door and had 3 big contractions between the car and the door. Started thinking maybe parking in the carpark wasn't a good idea after all!! But made it into the delivery suite.

Was 4cm dilated and felt a bit gutted as expected more than that however contractions were coming every 2-3 mins and lasting over a min each by this stage. Had 2 puffs of gas and air which is what I used with DS but it made me feel so sick (bl**dy heartburn!) that I couldn't use it so decided to see how I could manage without. DH was wonderful massaging my back which really really helped. At the point at which I decided enough was enough and I wanted an epidural or knocking out completely the mw examined me and I was 9.5cm and could push so....

I decided I need the loo!! As soon as I sat down I had the most almighty urge to push so mw quickly dragged me back to the bed!! Got on bed leaning over back and 2 pushes later my waters went with an audible 'pop' (honestly!!) and Abbies head was there!! After some careful manouvering by the wonderful mw and lots of panting I gave another tiny push and baby Abbie finally emerged!!!

Result one beautiful baby daughter, a small tear and NO STITCHES!!!!!! As anyone who read my thread about fearing stitches 2nd time round this was the single biggest fear I had. Can't quite believe how lucky I've been. FInally - the best news was the registrar who saw me yesterday letting me go home yesterday afternoon!!!!

So we're home safe and well. Abbie is bf well tho up most of the night with her as expected. But thats so much easier to deal with in your own home.

Thanks to everyone for all your advice support and good wishes since I discovered and started posting on MN back in October! It def helped make the whole pg experience manageable!

Ok - off for a sleep now!!
