Hi,

Iv posted on here a few times during my pregnancy and previous one. Baby"s due date being 25th Feb 16.

Well in fact she here now at 4 days old, born by c section at 25.3 weeks. I was out of the blue spotted to have pre eclampsia at a routine gp antenatal appt..was sent straight in to hospital and had to have the baby a week later as the pre eclampsia was affecting us both too much.

Our miracle baby girl is tiny only 1lb 5 at birth but she continues to be stable and is doing well in the special unit. We are so proud of her.

Oh my goodness, a frightening time for you all but a delightful happy outcome! many congratulations on your beautiful baby girl. I wish her strength and good health. It will be a tough road for few months yet but I am sure she will be just fine.

My friend has twins born similarly prematurely and it was touch and go for a while but looking at them rampaging noisily round the room now as perfectly healthy average sized three year olds you would never know. Grin

Congratulations on your baby girl - if you'd like to post a photo we'd love to see it, but understand if you don't want to ThanksWine xx

Wow. Congratulations on your little girl Flowers I hope you are feeling supported and getting over the shock. Are you still in hospital?

I had a similar situation with DS - routine ante-natal appointment picked up pre-eclampsia, straight to hospital, c-section a week later when blood pressure medications no longer effective. DS was born at 30.3 weeks, weighing 2lb 6oz. He is now a lively, lovely, loud 3 year old, with advanced language and cognitive abilities for his age. Still very small, but doctors say it can take 6-7 years to reach expected height.

Wishing you both strength Flowers

Hi,

Thanks for all your replies and congrats. I'm back home now and recovering from the cesarean and the pre eclampsia. The pre eclampsia affected my eyesight and vision mainly and that still is yet to return to normal but they sayvit can take a few weeks to fully recover.

Our little girl continues to be doing well in intensive care unit. She has no heart or brain problems or other major issues that they can tell. She just has all the usual
problems that come with being so premature. Like anemia, jaundice, sore skin, probs regulating blood sugar levels etc. But with all of these things she is responding well to treatments and getting better every day.

A hard thing has been trying to express milk whilst recovering but I am now managing it easier with help of a pump so am really pleased I can do that for the baby.

It's great to hear about your son and how well he is doing cakerattleandroll. You must be really proud of how's he's coped.

Congratulations, why have you been sent home so early? Would the hospital not let you stay in longer?

What a shock! Pleased to hear she's doing well though. A friend of mine had a 25 week, 1lb premie under similar circumstances. She's now a gorgeous, healthy, stonking great big 10 year old. Wishing you all the best for the coming months. Flowers

Wow congratulations, and wishing you all the strength in the world for your recovery. Staggered you are expressing as well after a C Section, pre eclampsia and having a tiny baby.... Kudos!!
My friend had tiny very early 25 week twins. They came over yesterday aged 8 and told me I was 'totes embarrassing' and I wasn't to 'try being cool' in front of their friends! Aunty Chopsy is a 'totes nightmare'!!! Grin
Have you named her yet?

Hi,

Thanks for all the replies. My little one is 18 days old now.
She's doing really well now and is putting on weight. She managed to come off of her ventilator today for the first time for a few hours. So when she tries again in a couple of days she'll be bigger and stronger so hopefully will get to stay off it permanently. It helped a lot to hear all about all the premie babies who have thrived and are now older children.
