Mini Metrobabe Arrives!

OMG - I can't believe I did it! Our new ds decided to make his arrival at 2.43am today weighing in at 7lbs exactly. No name however decided.

After having 10 min contractions since 2am yesterday and staying that way until 10pm - they suddenly jumped in intensity and frequency in the space of 20 mins. When I got to the hospital I was 8cm dilated already. Despite a lengthy 2hr second stage I managed to survive on gas and air, and a shot of pethidine. My midwife and DH were fantastic in encouraging me all the way. I can't believe I did it as I am such a wuss with pain. All together a much more positive birth experience

(by the way just retrospectively checked out your 'in labour' thread - you must print out/save copy for new ds in future! reads like fantastic drama, esp. worried mutterings every time you're off line! Rest up well, be proud.)
