Hi
I am new to this site. I lost my daughter Philippa on 05.04.05 at 25 weeks pregnant. We got the all clear on 26.05.05 from the hosp but the post mortem said that the cord was overcoiled. Our consultant said that this was not significant and that it was there as they probably felt that they had to put something down. She said there is no reason we should not be able to have another child.(We have another daughter lucy who is 19 mths). She did say she would write to us with a more detailed explanantion of the cord problem.Has anyone heard of this before? We are now trying to concieve again....

hi jane... i am so sorry to hear about the loss of Philippa...

you will find a lot of support on the site. There was another post today about someone who lost their little boy earlier this year.

I don't know about the cord... but hopefully there will be someone on here who can shed some more light on it....

Hi, Jane. I am so sorry to hear about Philippa. I've never heard of this cord problem either, I hope your consultant has reassured you and that you will be able to conceive again soon with no problems. XXX.

Jane,
I'm so sorry you lost your little girl Philippa, you must be in a terrible place at the minute.

Sorry, but I don't really know any thing about the umbilical cord or what problems that might cause. I do know there are some midwives here on MN, I think Mears is someone that you should look out for (I hope that's right).
You have come to the right place for some support. There are plenty of people here to give you help.
I hope you are looking after yourself, Much Love
J XxX

Hi Jangus.

I have never heard of this problem with the cord and tend to agree with your consultant that it is just a comment that has been made on the report but is unlikely to be of significance. Babies have all sorts of cords at delivery and some do appear really coiled.Very sadly there are often no ansewrs as to why a stillbirth has happened. So sorry for your loss
