Bo's death. An update

Well, we finally got a letter today from the hospital responding to our questions in writing. I'd left it for a while before chasing them. I 'phoned the Patient's Liaison bod yesterday morning and seven hours later got a real 'Cheques in the post. Oh! you haven't received it yet?' Response.

I won't go into long drawn-out details here. Those of you who may have followed the story know what happened. After the enquiry meeting I came away feeling like crap but also positive that a bleep-holding supernumerary MW would be reinstated to ensure that such a fatal f**k up would not happen again. The letter we got today said that the hospital is 'reviewing reinstating a bleep-holder' Not the same thing and I'm sure they're hoping they never hear from us again. Call me cynical but I believe they have no intention of reinstating this vital role, costs a bit and heck! Let's use the money for yet another meaningless layer of middle-management

I've discussed it with Mr Bubble and I'm contacting Susan Kramer who is our local MP tomorrow to make a big, stinky noise about this.

Tears again today, I expected it but it still feels like a knifewound.

and [andgry] for you bubble.

Good luck with your MP.

Would it help if those of us in neighbouring constituencies who also use Kingston hospital were to write to our MPs and express our concern as well?

oh I'm so sorry b99...

Perhaps it's time to publicly expose this total shambles for what it is?
Hopefully your MP will get the ball rolling, but otherwise now maybe the time for the press to be involved?

MarsLady Thu 09-Jun-05 20:10:39

You go for it bubble!

Oh, sweetheart - I'm so on your behalf.

If you need anything, just shout.

Lots of love, as always, HM xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

zippy539 Thu 09-Jun-05 20:14:00

How incredibly horrible and frustrating Totally echo Pruni - I'm so sorry you have to go through this but go for it - do everything you can to make sure this NEVER happens again.

dinny Thu 09-Jun-05 20:15:00

Bubble, just to say thoughts are with you. Dinny xx

bubble99 Thu 09-Jun-05 20:27:57

Leah. Yes it would. Let me speak to Susan Kramer and I'll CAT you if that's OK. Thanks.

jangus Thu 09-Jun-05 23:06:34

Bubble, I am outraged for you
I hope that you will get somewhere with your local MP. I know that you won't let them get away with fobbing you off.

I'm not surprised you had a teary day, this is very tough for you. Especially since that was really the only good thing they had to say to you that day of the meeting.

I think about your little Bo so much, it is just so unfair.

Much love XxX

milge Thu 09-Jun-05 23:08:30

Good luck with your mp bubble - have you tried your local Community Health Council - they are sometimes pretty good at championing patients complaints?

LGJ Thu 09-Jun-05 23:12:11

My love and thoughts are with you .............

Will connect tomorrow.

All my love

morocco Thu 09-Jun-05 23:17:40

much love to you all in this struggle - I admire your courage and tenacity

milward Thu 09-Jun-05 23:26:03

Admire your strength in this xxx
Hope your mp will help. Just so shocked that the hospital would say they were reviewing the situation when it is clear what needs to be done.

bubble99 Thu 09-Jun-05 23:31:40

Thanks all. I'm off to feed my little survivor. I know how lucky I am to have him. And you.

uwila Fri 10-Jun-05 00:06:47

Oh bubble, you are my hero. If I should ever (God forbid) experience something so horrible as this terrible tradgedy I only hope I might have half your strength.

Go get 'em!

And if you want to solicit more MNers to help, I think you should post a thread and not CAT. You mught get more takers than you think.

mears Fri 10-Jun-05 00:11:48

Oh bubble - that is really a blow. I admire you for carrying on with this despite your pain. Hope your MP can help. The Trust will certainly respond to her. So sad they could not put measures in place to ensure that staff are supported in order to support parents relying on care.

hatstand Fri 10-Jun-05 00:14:54

good luck with Susan Kramer and well done for not letting it lie. Your determination to do something that will benefit / protect other people is remarkable. Thinking of you

suedonim Fri 10-Jun-05 00:16:38

So sorry to hear that they are prevaricating over this simple safety measure, Bubble. Thinking of you.

suzywong Fri 10-Jun-05 00:24:07

At what point do these people abadon their humanity???
Make a big stink a big, big, stink and of course we wil support you as much as you need.

So Sorry

hunkermunker Fri 10-Jun-05 09:40:07

Bubble, are you still thinking of taking this to the media?

I think that you might have to - am still fuming re their cavalier attitude. Dreamt about you last night!

marthamoo Fri 10-Jun-05 09:52:37

Bubble, I'm so sorry. I don't know how you find the strength to do this but I admire you immensely for it. Love to you all xxx
