Friend died suddenly last week, wondering about funeral

This is a bit of an odd one. My friend and fitness instructor died suddenly last week whilst out running. The funeral is on Thursday and I am wondering whether to go. Bit of history, this guy is very big in the ultra running community and has many friends through this and associated groups. He is also a personal trainer and runs fitness classes in my local sports centre. I have been going to his classes every week for just over a year and we always have a great time.
The funeral will be very well attended by all his family and running buddies and I feel I will be out of place cos I just went to his classes. Just looking for a few opinions, if I can get hold of some of the other class members I would feel a bit happier about going with a few others in the same situation. WWYD?

I would go if you want to. You could just attend the service if you feel you wouldn't know anyone at the bit afterwards.

Unless specified by family, funerals are for anyone to go to pay their respects/show support for those left behind imo.
