a neighbour knocked on my door and asked if my cat was missing. he hadn't come home and i was getting really worried about him.
my neighbour said he's really sorry but there is a cat dead in his garden.

it was my baby. he was only 1 and a half. i just feel so devestated. he was the sweetest most affectionate cat in the world. he used to come to the shops with me, he would jump up onto my car as soon as i pulled up, he would jump onto my back and sleep curled around my neck.

he had no signs of injury on him. he was laying at the bottom of a tree with bird feathers around him so i dont know if he was chasing a bird and fell from the tree landing awkwardly

i miss him so much. ive buried him in my garden and will plant some flowers there.
i keep looking on the window ledge as thats where he used to sit waiting for me to let him in the house. my ds got quite upset too and my other cat is being unusually affectionate as she can tell he's gone

feel so sad sadsad

sad juicychops - it's a horrible thing, especially because he sounds so special and so young. He might've had a heart attack, possibly. My cat who was about 6 or 7 and adorable - very similar in behaviour as yours (he'd run out to meet me from anywhere, jangling along) disappeared over night and dh found him next morning dead in the alley behind our garden...no sign of injury - I was hart broken and still miss him years on. We buried him in the garden with flowers on his grave too. Huge sympathetic hugs to you

Oh I'm so sorry. My little black cat died while I was pg, she was suddenly and severely ill with nothing the vet could do and slipped away while having a cuddle on my knee.

It's such a sad thing to lose your pet. sad

juicychops Sun 03-May-09 08:56:11

thanks. didn't think about a heart attack. i hope he didn't suffer. i cant bear the thought that he was in pain. he looked so peaceful laying with his feet curled under. his belly was still a bit soft when i was stroking him.

do i need to tell the vets and his microchip company that he has died?

You might want to tell the vets just in case they send out things like vaccination reminders. It can be upsetting to receive something like that through the post but it will be sent automatically if they don't know he's gone.

I am so sorry for your loss. It sounds like he was a really special lad

MargaretMountford Sun 03-May-09 09:25:02

no, you needn't tell anyone, though the vet may send reminders for vaccinations which might be upsetting.

Oh I'm sorry. We lost our beloved ginger tom a couple of months ago sad He got knocked down and someone removed him from the side of the road - I'm thankful that the DSes didn't have to see him but DH wanted to bury him in the garden

So sorry, poor you. sad It's heart-breaking to lose a moggy when they're such a part of the family, isn't it? Sending lots of hugs.

I am so sorry. It is very hard to lose a much-loved cat, especially one as young as this.

I hope it will be some comfort to know you gave him a happy life.

Juicychops- it feels like that at the moment, but soon you will miss the contentment that a cat brings. I was cat free for nearly a year after my Honey died- partly due to financial constraints and partly I hurt too much, but I have my 2 fat furballs and wouldn't change a thing.
It's like an addiction- once you have a cat and like it, you feel like you always need a cat around.smile
Hope you are ok.

i have one cat still and she is only just nearly 2 years old but only had her about 3 months and ive never really got very close to her as i loved my other one so much and gave him nearly all my attention. but now he's gone and i only have her its weird that ive now got to give her all my attention. maybe one day in the future il learn to lover her as much as i loved my boy. but she'll never be the same. but she is lovely too, she's just very winey and wingey!!

Am so sorry.

My little Natasha cat died in front of me, we think of a heart attack but not sure, in 1998.

I still cry when i see photos of her.

How sad.
At least you have him back, he wasn't left somewhere and you are left wonderring.

PieceNharmoknee Mon 04-May-09 22:10:32

sad for you and your ds.
