I need to scatter my dads ashes, I wanted to bury them in our local cemetary but cant afford the plot, interrment and plaque. Scattering them at sea is an option but i feel that i need a place to go and lay flowers etc.has anyone any experience of this kind of thing and any ideas of lasting memorials that dont cost the earth. (not being cheap skate but really have no money and am already in debt with funeral expense etc)

I would scatter them in my garden.

As far as putting flowers etc why not make a little shrine in your house ? just a photo where you can light a candle and put a few flowers when you feel the need ? Hang on to the ashes until maybe you move, or scatter them somewhere pretty or somewhere that meant something to your dad.

Someone on here, can't quite remember who, but they may be on later and tell you, put ashes in a large outdoors pot with a small tree or shrub. You can take it with you if you move house.
Sorry for your loss Frazzled.
