Hi, I hope you can help.

I'm attending my friend's funeral tomorrow. It will be at a Catholic Church, I'm not Catholic. I'm not sure what the form will be, however, if there's communion can I participate? - Been looking at a few websites and some mention this happening. Do I have to cross my hands over my chest just for a blessing? Least of my worries really, but just want to get it right on a difficult day.

Thank you.

Hi Bramble
The priest may say before communion, that if any non-catholics wish to come up for a blessing they may do so (in which case, yes you cross your arms over your chest). Even if he doesn't say that, you can go up, and if you cross your arms like that he will know to give you a blessing. It's up to you. Not compulsory. Fine just to stay put in your seat at communion time unless you particulraly want a blessing.

Hope tomorrow goes Ok. I am very sorry for your loss.
