Bereavement

My mother is critically ill...

and unlikely to survive
she is in hospital on a BiPap and it probably will be taken off tomorrow as it is not helping.
We (the family) are preparing for the worst to happen very soon

Mum has COPD (lung disease) as well as Diabetes and other problems. She is in heart failiure and not a candidate for resuscitation as it stands because her lungs are not strong enough to withstand resuscitation

Spooky, I hope this isn't inappropriate. But if you don't want your mum's last moments to be in hospital, it may be worth speaking to the ICU Dr's and ask if she can be taken home and extubated at home.

I will be thinking of you and yours xx

Its my Dd1's birthday today too. Not been fun for her, mum not been home.

Iliketomoveit, shes not intubated, just the BiPap and a nasal trumpet in. Tbh I think hospital is the best place for her. They can manage her final moments there better than we could at home. But thank you.

I should have said, I mentioned this as not many people realise it is an option and can take away the upset of having a loved one die outside of the home.

There is always hope. My fil has copd and is o2 dependent - he has been on bi-pap mulitple times and we have been told he will not survive the night but he has and is currently out of hospital at home.
