My Mum passed away in the Summer so Christmas will be a bit strange this year and obviously very hard for my Dad.

I will be at the INLs for Christmas , Dad going to my brothers and then coming to us for New Year . I know that I am going to find it very hard especailly when hearing Carols on Christmas morning as Mum loved that.

I know that there are probably a few of us out there who are going to be without a loved one for the first time .

Its been so strange just writing card to Dad and not buying a present for Mum

just a thread to share our thoughts .

Captainunderpants, feel so the same. Mum passed away 5 weeks ago and am feeling totally lost.
The children are excited about Christmas and I just want it all to go away .

It's hard being strong isn't it.

Thinking of you too.

CaptainUnderpants - I too want Christmas to go away, but with my 2 dc's so excited it isn't going to I don't really know what I am going to do or how I am going to get through it but have been assured by other people who have lost a husband that I will.

Polgara2 - my mum died 5 weeks ago too - 10th November. It is a hard time of year, isn't it. My dd was born 8 days before she died too, so the last few weeks have been a huge rollercoaster of emotions - one of the happiest events in my life coinciding with one of the saddest. At least having my dd has given me something positive to focus on - it's a bit of a cliche, "new life" and all that, but it's true. Still have some very hard days though.

Thoughts going to everyone who was bereaved this year.

I lost my FIL 2 months ago. The family are coming to us for Christmas, and the DC are excited about having everyone here, as grandad was too ill to come last year so we were on our own. I'm looking forward to that too, but slightly nervous about how it will go in the circumstances, as we'll all be missing him. With children, you can't but get on with it, but yet I feel we should do something to acknowledge his absence.

Fruittea, last Christmas morning I went to my baby's grave with some flowers. It meant I could concentrate on him and nothing else for a few moments on Christmas Day, and also feel he'd been acknowledged and included. I felt alot more restful and stronger after I did this. I also noticed that lots of other people were doing this too for their loved ones.
My thoughts are with everybody who's lost a close friend or relative this year.x.

I lost my ds 6 weeks ago so I really can't get excited about Christmas. I find it difficult to believe that I will have to carry this grief and huge void around with me until the day I die. I miss him.

I am thinking of everyone who has lost someone xx
