How Soon After Can We Try Again?

M/C'd at 5 weeks. Just getting over a week of heavy bleeding. Feel absolutely bereft but want to try again as soon as possible. Should you wait to have another "NORMAL" period or will it do any harm to try when you next ovulate?

Good to hear what you have done...how it turned out etc..

sorry about your miscarriage nappychange.

There is no reason to wait - the only reason it might be useful is to know your dates, but that's the only reason really.

I've had 3 m/c and for the first 2 I waited until I had a couple of normal periods but with the last one we tried straight away.

good luck

Agree with hana. No reason to wait, but the medical profession like you to have one period before falling pg again so they can properly date the subsequent pregnancy.

Ommitted to say sorry for your loss. Very insensitive of me...

Sorry to hear of your loss.

Just to echo what others have said - that there's nothingstopping you starting to try again straight away, but the HPs do like you to wait 1 cycle to date accurately ...

However, the other side of that is that if you do conceive straight away, you are more likely to get an early scan to confirm dates etc (that is, if you want one)

It all depends on how you feel about it - if you do conceive straight away, then the LMP date they use will be the date of your MC. If you can deal with that, then go for it!

Hoping you do conceive again quickly, and that it's a long, boring and totally unevenful pregnancy! Come and join us on the pg after mc thread when you're successful.

Hi Nappy change - there is a thread on the trying to concieve board called ttc after MC July 2007 - anybody out there? - there are a group of us on there who has the title says have had miscarriages and are TTC. I will not be waiting for my first period and my midwife agreed that there is no reason to unless you want to be certain about dates.

Hope you will join us

hi nappy change, im sorry to her about your loss
i had a mc at 6 1/2 weeks in may, it was a missed one and i had tablets to make it start. we didnt wait and i fell pregnant after my 1st af. the sho a the hospital told me that the latest thinking was to wait 3 mths or the chance of a 2nd mc was slightly higher but a number of other docs told me there was no point in waiting as long as your ready physically and emotionally. plus theres some thinking your more fertile after mc (to me it felt like my body was desperate to let me know i was oving and i had lots of midcycle symptoms that i normally dont get!) im currently 10 weeks and fingers crossed all will be well when i have my scan in 2 weeks time.

i hope your ok and you get your bfp soon. x
