It's our Best Man's cremation today

Just putting my thoughts on paper.

My husband died 7 years ago. His Best Man was executor of his will but we lost touch about four years ago. I found out that he had moved back to his home town around about that time. He died 4 days before Christmas.

I had no contact details for him so was looking at the obituaries daily and today I found his. Unfortunately it says that his cremation is today and as it's over 200 miles away I can't go.

Late DH and Best Man were golfing and drinking mates for years before I came on the scene. They had each other's back. For the 10 years we were married Best Man sent gifts and cards at Christmas to our children and they called him Uncle.

I am so annoyed that I didn't see the notice sooner. I am sad that another contemporary of late DH has died and another connection to him has gone iyswim. I am sad that we lost touch. Nothing I can do apart from raise a glass and live well I suppose.

Sorry for your losses. It is a shame you missed the funeral. Is there a widow, or family or a partner you could write to? It would mean a lot to those left behind.

No partner but he did have a sister. Good idea BackforGood I could write via the funeral director and ask them to pass it on. Thank you.
